Our guide, Jose, was absolutely phenomenal! He has so much knowledge of Santa Fe and the food scene, and you can definitely tell he is passionate about the cuisine there. He was extremely personable, funny, and was happy to answer any questions and tell us lots of stories! Really just an overall joy! It was also super fun that everyone in the group was visiting from out of town and many of us loved doing food tours in other cities so we got to swap food tour stories and whatnot. Here's a list of our stops and what we had: La Fogata Grill - taco and margarita Del Charro - enchilada with both sauces and margarita San Francisco St Bar and Grill - half of a green chili cheeseburger and margarita Senor Murphy Candymaker - various sweet treats Everything was absolutely phenomenal - I really can't pick a favorite dish because they were all so yummy. But the Del Charro meal convinced me to always order "Christmas" sauce the rest of my stay in Santa Fe. My favorite margarita was definitely the one at San Francisco! And also, there was one person in the group that didn't drink and they were very accommodating to give him some fancy mocktails instead of cocktails (or boring soda!). They extended for one room and not the other? Does this make sense? Never called to say they couldn't get the second room booked for two extra nights! I get some dogs are barkers but you put dog rooms elsewhere and have contact info incase barking occurs. Restaurant reception was pushy they didn't want to serve us because they were closing in 30 mins. They had 7 tables of people in the restaurant. The waiter was excellent and the food was as well. One star because your only as good as your word. No one took accountability for their actions even when they were confronted by their coworker. A "I'm sorry" and "let me see how we can fix this" goes along way.

We could not have been happier with the home, or with the responsiveness and warmth of Michael, the owner. The house was spotlessly clean, roomy, and such a bargain compared to hotels in the area. Extensive and thoughtful remodeling has kept the soul of this older casa intact, while providing beautiful new amenities like a walk-in steam shower, jacuzzi, granite countertops, stainless steel kitchen appliances, and whole house stereo system. Best of all, were the gorgeously burnished plaster walls, so smooth and softly shiny. The house's layout offers privacy, and though my mom is a very talented snorer, we both slept well. The master bedroom is super-dreamy, with a large attached sitting room and french doors opening into a green and lovely, fully-enclosed backyard complete with gas grill and a stone-tiled outdoor dining area. Despite having so many great nearby restaurants, the welcoming draw of the backyard patio won out several evenings of our stay. And after days spent visiting pueblos and museums, we returned home with great appreciation for the Native pottery displayed throughout the open kitchen and living room. Very, very cool. Candelario's location is fabulous, with little street noise to speak of, and only a nice 12 block walk to the plaza. The Santa Fe River Park is a block and a half from the house and several grocery stores are within a couple minute's drive. Access to the main thoroughfare to Taos and the Northern Pueblos is just a few blocks away. Rancho Roybal's Casa Candelario and Casa Quintana's backyards adjoin through a gate in the tall coyote fence, so if's possible to rent both houses for a larger group. If you are traveling with an active canine family member, Santa Fe's amazing and huge Frank Ortiz off-leash dog park is a tidge over a mile from the house and has great views down over the city and so much room to hike and run. Casa Candelario was hard to leave, and I'm already looking forward to a return visit!

I was able to see wild horses, Indian petroglyphs', a Spanish Land Grant, a slot canyon that had many fossils and many other amazing things.. .Everybody should do this while they are in the area

Chef Mica kicked things off by giving us an overview of the history of the area, its chile traditions, and the differences between the peppers we'd be working with and seeing around the city. Each of us prepared a different type of relleno, and then at the end we all sat down and shared the full spread together buffet style. It was such a fun way to learn, connect, and taste a variety of chiles without spending hours cooking everything on your own. It was well organized, engaging, and easy to follow. My anxiety did kick in once I realized other people would also be eating what I made, but we made it through and I loved what I got, the jalapeno poppers. It's a compound of apartment like buildings separate from the checkin site. The part I stayed in had three gates with security codes, so safety was taken into account. I stayed in a king suite and it was very large. A full kitchen with stove/microwave/full sized fridge as well as a large living area with skylight. The bedroom was separate and up a small set of steps. The windows were exposed to the whole courtyard, so might wanna keep the curtains closed. The bathroom was a little small, but very usable, and the shower was hot and had great pressure. Bed was a little firm for my taste, but I slept great, so I can't complain. It's a me thing, not a them thing. They also had a full sized fireplace and matches, though I couldn't get it lit to save my life. I should have used some scrap paper or something to get it going. The checkin crew was very kind and accommodating and watched my backpack while I wandered around before checkin time. My room was ready a couple hours early. This hotel/site is about 4/10 of a mile from the plaza and the main part of town (the walk is easy, not hilly or problematic). It's very quiet and about the same distance from several restaurants. It was about half the price of the hotel that's right on the plaza. I only stayed for 30 hours, so maybe I would've stayed at the hotel on the plaza just for convenience, but for much more than a day or two, this is a much better value (I paid just over 200 dollars a night). They have breakfast and a patio and tables available in the morning. You can get Lyfts here, but they also have a ton of business cards for cabs.
