This place lost my family's dog…read more They were grooming our two dogs. They are both quite skittish and the groomer should have been aware of this as we had brought them there many times before. For some reason, one of the (now ex-) employees took one of our dogs outside at some point, without his collar on, and he ran away across the parking lot and disappeared. Apparently they tried to chase him but he got away. That employee was then extremely rude to my mother when she came in to find out what happened. The owner, to her credit, fired the negligent employee who let him loose, and was very involved with the efforts to retrieve him (hired a pet searcher, hung posters, drove around searching). We are grateful to her for that. Our pup was (THANKFULLY!) found 2 days later, after being picked up by animal control and brought to SARC. I am torn about this review now because the owner Megan obviously felt horrible and was so relieved when she learned that he was found. However, all of this could have been avoided had that employee acted with a modicum of common sense, and ultimately the responsibility for that does fall on the business owner. People trust you with their pets. To most of us they are family members. To have one of them go lost or missing because someone you trusted let him down is absolutely heartbreaking.

This place not only LOST OUR DOG due to gross negligence, but instead of following him and calling…read moreit in decided to go back to the facility and let the dog get over an hour headstart on any search effort. This is after they decided that chasing the loose, scared dog far away was better than calmly coaxing him. Oh, and taking him outside in the parking lot by the busy street without a collar on. All of this could have been easily avoided by someone with any common sense. The incompetent employee then decided that it was appropriate to give attitude to the owner who was looking for her dog. The dog was found 2 days later by animal control but I will be telling everyone I know to avoid this place, and so should you. The dog could easily have died. This is not the first time this has happened. Hopefully they are not given the chance to let it happen again. This establishment has no business looking after anyone's animal. Regarding the owner's friend's review: the fact that they have multiple gates just makes it even more ludicrous that they lost a dog. The dog did not plan an elaborate prison break. This is now the second time they have lost a dog. This was a series of unbelievable screwups followed by a token attempt at retrieval and this place should not be in business.

They picked up the call. And not only did the confirm they had, and the price, and yes they don't hold.... They did. Just for me. Cuz it would take me 2+ hours to commute in from the other side of BC. I got there with about 25 minutes to spare before closing. Was introduced to my new baby hog and his quirks and personality. And he was super chill just like they said. Poor little guy has been there since Christmas waiting for (me) someone to take him home. While I haven't had hedgies since 2012 I had this longing for another lately so after about a month of procrastination and really it was just tally how much the new guy would run me (as I recently already spent over $500 on fish tank and reptile decor for my "2" very spoiled roborovski dwarf hamsters just less than 5 days ago), and they were nice enough to tell me a free membership gets me almost $40 off so yeah sign me up The assistant store manager was the one that took my call. And she was there waiting for me at 7:30 pm to help me get my new boy packed up for his commute home. I did get my boy settled in nicely. And I hope the lady sees this review. And yes. I WILL BE SENDING THE SURREY LOCATION A BOX OF LINERS AND SNUGGLE SACKS AND OTHER CAGE FLEECE ACCESSORIES LIKE HAMMOCKS FOR THE FERRETS AND RATS. I didn't know pet stores would consider laundry and utilize fleece items if donated to better enrich and cater to the comfort of the animals. This is a company I can 100% get behind and give them a hand where needed. Donations. Give me a few weeks and I will be mailing in a box of goodies for all the little critters THANK YOU SO MUCH (i forgot your name ASM, but you were absolutely amazing and helpful and i felt good supporting a company that cares this deeply about the welfare of the animals in their care. When you walk in, you can't tell they carry any animals. There's ZERO smells!!! And the cages are immaculate lol I peeked inside my hedgehog tank (not knowing he was in there, didn't see anything move and cage looked spotless so I assumed he was packed up waiting for me) turns out. He was in there so clean it's crazy!!! And if you guys see this review. Here's SPIKE in his new home all tucked in (it was a long ride home)

Allen should not be a manager he does not care about his customers/customer needs. I recommend not to go there and if you go their to stay clear of Allen.

We were looking for some help with our dog and his on-leash reactivity. We've taken a class before…read morebut found that we couldn't transfer the skills we learned there, to the real world. Ryan came and met with us at our house and talked with us, then went out on a training walk in our neighbourhood. A lot of the advice was what we had already learned (which was actually reassuring, because we prefer the positive reinforcement model) but he gave us some helpful tips about how to actually apply it outside. He also gave us some really useful insight into why our dog was behaving the way he does, plus he gave us a better idea on where we had been going wrong in the past (basically moving ahead too quickly without really perfecting the good behaviours). We've seen some improvements in our dog, though I admit that any delays are always due to our lack of consistency. I do wish Ryan could just magically transfer his cool and calm demeanour to us on our walks -- as soon as our dog was in his hands, he calmed right down and followed all of his commands. Of course our dog was so perfectly behaved when someone else was around, but this actually proved a big point about our own body language affecting our dog. I would definitely recommend Ryan to anyone.
