My wife is with my second child and they have made the payment plan in a way that we will pay the amount in small portions, thus the receipt may not reflect all the various services that are being conducted each time my wife visit the office. I've had so many issues with Discovery with even simple reimbursements (co-pays, doctors visits) where an itemized receipt isn't enough. They will keep denying your requests and make you jump through so many hoops just to allow you the opportunity to use YOUR OWN funds, with the excuse of IRS requirements. Thank goodness our company switched to IGOE Administrative Services this year. I can use my debit card for most of my health expenses (I couldn't with Discovery, everything was denied) and most of my claims (copays, etc) get approved immediately. Although the reps I've spoken with at Disccovery were nice, they were ineffective and had me resubmit my claims multiple times, with a 1-2 week processing period. I'm sure most people reach a breaking point with this company and don't bother to resubmit their claims, forfeiting their funds. Please stay away from Discovery Benefits, unless you want to add hours of unnecessary admin work to the plate of every single one of your employees. read more

incompetent COBRA provider. Found out from my doctor that my insurance was cancelled. I am on auto-pay with WEX. Checked my account and they didn't deduct this month's premium so I called them and they said since I am calling 2 days later than 30-days, my insurance has been cancelled and it can't be reinstated. When I said, I don't understand, I'm on auto pay, their response was well the system doesn't show that now so we cancelled you. How does an account just magically switch off auto-pay? What is worse, no communication from them to let me know. An error on their part and I now have no insurance. Awful company with customer service to match. DBI continues to be disgustingly fraudulent and underhanded as a benefit administrator. Though I thought I'd seen it all when they recently denied and refused to reimburse me for eligible medical prescriptions (which after a negative review and A LOT of complaining, they conceded), they've somehow managed to top themselves. On December 20, 2018 I had medically necessary outpatient surgery. The surgery center required that I pay a facility fee prior to the procedure, and I used my FSA debit card. Begin the epic battle with nitwits...DBA denied the expense and wanted documentation. I provided them with a detailed statement reflecting the itemized charges and payment, yet they again denied. Not because the procedure was ineligible, they just didn't like the documentation. So I called them to get an explanation. When I did, the representative was rude and disrespectful, and confused by the information. It was as though she really wanted to deny the claim, but couldn't figure out how. She claimed that the statement was invalid because the amount due was not included on the statement. So I point out precisely on the statement where the amount of the charge was located, as well as the payment. Nevertheless, the representative argued that this was not valid because the "patient responsibility" showed a zero balance. I tried to explain that the "zero balance" was because I PAID the amount of the facility charge with the card, with my FSA debit card, and asked to speak with a manager. DENIED. I asked what more she wanted, and she said that I had to produce a copy of the credit card transaction receipt (for my FSA debit card???) along with the statement showing the charges and payment. The absurdity of the exchange left me exhausted and insisting again on a manager. DENIED. Here I am now, almost 11 months after the eligible expense, and DBI is now demanding reimbursement. I think not, and I am exploring appropriate remedy against DBI for the persistent fraudulent and deceptive management of my benefits. I wish I could give this company negative stars. You don't have to scroll too far down the reviews list to see this is the worst FSA company. My work company has hired them for the last year and I will not be signing up for this program again next year. The only transactions this company approves is amazon purchases or walgreens purchases. Every other MEDICAL bill is denied because an itemized statement and EOB is not enough. As a result, I have to pay money back to this company in the amount of whatever claim they are denying just to gain access back to the card that was preloaded with all my hard earned money. Wex is garbage. I will submit 2 detailed receipts for 2 different transactions from the same medical provider. One gets accepted and the other doesn't. When I call to ask why is one asking me to jump through hurdles when it literally has the same information as the one that was accepted. They state that the other one should've got denied too lol. Instead of recognizing that all the information was there and should therefore approve the 2nd one as well. They're asking for too much from their customers. Terrible place. Poor service. Poor interpretation of IRS rules. They refuse more payments than they allow. It's always on you to prove that your provider is an actual medical provider, even though proof was provided for earlier charges. It's as if they try to put as many stop signs as they can, so that you can end the year with a positive balance, which they end up keeping. A very poor experience and I would not recommend them to any employer that doesn't want to field an unnecessary volume of complaints about WEX. read more

WEX acquired them in January 2019. DB was pretty bad before, but they are completely toxic now. This morning I received a text message that they suspended my FSA debit card, "Go read why on the portal!" OK, off to the portal. Nothing about suspension. I do see a request posted THIS MORNING for more documentation from my ophthalmologist visit FOUR DAYS AGO. I also see an overpayment of $27.40 posted today one week after I provided more documentation. OK, called the provider and told them to credit my visa card. So due to a small overpayment that I just learned about and a request for documentation, they suspend my account. I've let our HR and Benefits group know that I don't consider an FSA through Discovery Benefits as a benefit, but rather a toxic time-waste black hole. Ensure that your HR people know that their choice of this company is a smack to the face to their coworkers. Update: Discovery tried to keep our account of (guessing here, but close....25,000 accounts) by saying they've changed their rules. But I called customer service today regarding yet another issue - their horrible website, and the CSR told me that they were still suspending accounts at the same time they request documentation. Here's the BIG LIE from Discovery: Now team members will receive receipt reminders on day 61, day 106 and then an overdue notice on day 166. An ineligible notice will be sent on day 261 in which the debit card would be suspended. If at any point documentation is submitted during this time-frame that is insufficient the team member will receive a separate notification requesting additional information. read more

Unfortunately I had no choice but to give 1 start but I would give NO Stars for WEX. Very frustrating company to work with. I feel my BP rise just thinking about WEX. They want receipts for everything so you spend time calling around to gather the receipts and then send them in and sometimes you need to resend them. My husband ordered a medication online that his doctor recommended and we did not get a receipt. I could not get in contact with the company to get a receipt so I printed out the transaction from the purchase but "doesn't have all the information. And if we don't have the receipt and you get audited, it's a federal offense." We decided not to continue with the HSA. I know we're losing a benefit but I'd rather not participate with WEX any longer. read more

It could not be any worse. They continue to place holds on my FSA debit card making it decline when I am attempting to use it. I end up paying out of my own pocket only to have to go online and request a reimbursement. What is the point of the card? My 6 year old son was recently prescribed asthma meds and I have been trying for 2 days to reach Discovery Benefits via phone/email/FB, to remove the hold off my card so I can purchase his scripts for breathing. Challenging to work with. I switched jobs and had DB at both places. When I started to put money in at my new job, it never showed in my account. Later came to find out that I had to create a new login since I switched companies and since I was outside the claims window when I found this out, I lost all the money I put in. Quite disappointing. Wex benefits FSA is HORRIBLE! If you are looking for someone to administer your flex spending, don't use WEX! They wait 6 months to deny a claim that shouldn't be denied. Then they freeze the card since you didn't pay it back immediately. Never mind that since it's been 6 months you might need to look for a minute to find the receipt. They denied my kid's physical therapy, even though the only thing you can pay for there is ... you got it... physical therapy, which is a covered expense. Their denials don't make sense. They require receipts for some things and not others. Then, at the end of the year, when I didn't sign up for it again, they are trying to keep my last $14.59. Then their system for uploading information just does not work. I uploaded a PDF file which clearly states it will work with their system and when I went to check it there was a strange blue screen with nothing on it. Then there ie NO WAY to remove that file and try to upload another or add another receipt? Who created this system - the only answer is that they want to make it hard for you to claim reimbursement so they don't have to do any work. I've tried to use money that I contributed from my bank account to pay for some dental work. They've been collecting money from me since 2021. I'm a healthy person so I didn't have any claims until now. It turns out it's not an health savings account If you don't use the money within the year you lose it all. I'm only giving them one star because 0 stars is not an option. My former employer uses this company as a COBRA administrator. Their customer service agents make stuff up and do not confine their responses to the truth; then tell you it takes from 2 to 15 days in order to process the payment they received to the health plan. When you ask for a supervisor you are put on a five-minute hold and hung up on. Even their customer service representatives agree that the amount of time they hold payments that affect people's LIVES is unacceptable. This unethical company should be investigated, fined, and shut down by state and federal regulatory agencies for the way that they treat the health and livelihood of the people whose health insurance they are responsible for. STAY AWAY. To follow up on Hayden's comment: The best advice I got from the Discovery Benefits rep was to call the carrier directly. The customer service rep at the carrier took ownership of the situation, got it resolved in an hour and a half, and even called the pharmacy where my prescription was being held for processing due to the COBRA issue when it was resolved. I had sent a couple of emails and the replies were either, not helpful or confusing, so I thought I'd try the customer service phone number. My first call last week, the message stated the wait time was about 3-5 minutes. I hung up after 12 minutes. I am on a this morning, and I get message about "high volume" and wait time about 10 minutes. High Volume at 7:30 am EST ? Ok, I played along and surprisingly a representative picked up at a little over 10 minutes. She asked for my name and date of birth. As I was replying an automated survey started :  "on a scale of 1-5, please rate your service today". This is jaw-dropping stupidity. Even a 1 rating is way too high. I have only been dealing with these morons for a little over 3 weeks and I'm done. Any pre-tax savings I am getting, is not worth dealing with this level of incompetence. read more

I asked for a detailed receipt so I could get reimbursed through WEX for my cobra payment. It took them a week to send it to me and it was the most vague receipt I have ever seen. Of course this wasn't enough for WEX to reimburse me. You'd think they could just look at their own records to verify this. This company needs to get a reality check.. They denied my claim with Quest Diagnostics!!!! They told me the tests (my annual physical) could have been elective and not medically necessary !! I asked the CS rep if they thought I was cruising labs to get injections.. She said not everything at Quest is covered under FSA.. I asked for an example and she changed the subject... I also paid my wife's obgyn through the AETNA website and they denied the claim... EVEN after I sent them the screenshot showing I paid it through Aetna.. We are asking my employer to switch companies.. Maybe if more employees voice their opinion to management, this garbage company will lose enough business to re-evaluate... WORST BENEFITS ADMINISTRATOR EVER! DO NOT USE THIS JOKE OF A COMPANY. I enrolled in a $572\month COBRA plan administered through Discovery. I set up auto payments so I never missed a payment and would ensure continuous coverage. From the very first month every single time I needed medical attention I was told I have no coverage. I called my previous employer and they said it was Discovery's issue. At first, Discovery gave some BS excuse about how it was United Healthcare's fault because it can take them up to 15 days to update coverage (this makes no sense, I'm on autopay). Some investigation with United turned up the information that Discovery just doesn't bother to tell your insurance company that you've paid. So they have no problem taking my money at a specific date but they let my coverage lapse and then I have to jump through hoops to get bills paid just because they won't send the updates in a timely manner. I even had the previous employer contact them and tell them I was on auto-pay and ask why this was happening however they just gave her the run around. It was not just me, every person on a COBRA plan administered by Discovery had the same issues. Even though I had a first rate PPO, half the time it was looked at it showed no coverage!!! Hey Discovery, what if I was in a horrible accident and the difference between saving a limb and loosing it was my insurance? Huh? What about that? What if there was some major issue where the outcome is drastically difference with insurance or no insurance? What about that? Is it ok to go half the month basically showing no coverage because your company doesn't care enough to get your updates out in a timely manner? Every single employee at Discovery Health should be embarrassed at best and ashamed. WEX = Total chaos! Hmm...the person with 5 star review must be very lucky. Buy a lottery ticket. I will join the other unlucky 99% to share my bad experience with this company that should not exist. My previous employer used WEX, I have no choice. WEX kept sending me letter every month to threaten me that my ACH (if you don't know what this is, google ACH) has been suspended and if I don't pay this month balance by check, credit card with a $20 fee etc. by the grace period, my coverage will be denied. I was worried when I received my 1st letter, I called customer service and they had no idea what is going on because my payment due was zero that month. My ACH was NOT suspended. So, the letter was totally wrong to cause their customers, who may have a condition, to have unnecessary anxiety! Well, thanks. I need to worry about my COBRA payment instead of dying. Nice distraction. So, these letters just kept coming every month to wake me up from dying. There were other interesting letters. They sent me a bunch of letters telling me some of my existing doctors were no longer accepted by WEX. More calls to customer service and the answer was these doctors(not just one) may have multiple tax IDs and canceled some. OK, I thought. More letters came later telling me these previous letters were MISTAKES! Whoever is responsible for generating these letters, please stop. Also, you got my email address and phone#, send me electronically. That's faster and save some money and tree. Please go paperless. Oh, WEX login is also super secure - it requires 2 factor authentication and I have to enter a code received on email or phone EVERY TIME. WEX login is more secure than my bank. I've had an atrocious experience with the WEX/Shell gas credit card company. Earlier this year Shell/Wex made some administrative/billing mistake causing me to be billed multiple late fees. They corrected their mistakes and even though I lost valuable time and energy, I never had to pay the fees. Later, when I reached out to customer service to pay a balance, the service rep, who was dismissive and unhelpful, instructed me on how to pay. Either he was incompetent or intentionally caused me to pay only a portion of what was owed. At the time, when I had fulfilled my responsibility to pay my balance, there was a zero balance. Today, when I log in I see a $200 balance!? I have not used the gas card since that last experience with that rep. And here is a balance I should not owe, including a past due amount that would be reported to credit bureaus. We changed to this FLEX provider this year. I had been told that they were sticklers for proof of point of service for compliance reasons. I have no problem with that. But I question if this is actually the reason. I submitted an claim invoice that had two visits at $95 for a provider. The invoice total was $190. The provider then swiped my FLEX card for my next visit of $95. I have spent 4 days trying to challenge the fact that this is a reoccurring visit with the same provider and the same cost per visit. I was told that the invoice of $190 didnt match the visit of $95 so I must substantiate that one visit. They acknowledged that the first invoice showed two visits for $95 and that the additional claim of $95 was for the same provider. It didnt matter, the numbers didnt match. This is a reoccurring claim so wont this be fun all year. This isnt about compliance this is a company who is arbitrary beyond logic. I am the HR manager and I do not want my employees to go thru this craziness. read more
