Just to respond to the comment. The charges I was talking about were from doctor's office, what do you think they sell, pizzas? It's not like you can use FSA card in non approved paces. When I used IGOE card in the same office that was enough. With Discovery Benefits I had to get a bill and submit it every.single.time. If I have to get bill, scan it and send it, then why even bother with the Visa card? It doesn't save me anything. You choose the option for help in setting up your account or log-in and it asks you for the last 4 digits of your debit card which of course I do not have. My wife also had no luck with Discovery Benefits. She was given the FSA card through her employer and they denied claims over and over again. She had to repeatedly go back to the Dr's office to get receipts and verifications but the claims were still denied. This is a scam company. Wish I could take back my choice to use FSA. This is becoming a nightmare. Every claim is denied and needs more paperwork. I send more paperwork and it's denied again. The worst part is going to the doctor and knowing you have over $1500 in your account and being DECLINED at the POS for $25 co-pays. It's stupidly embarrassing. Is it any shock that Discovery Benefits has a one star rating? Uh no! I've paid for several normal healthcare expenses using my Flex Spending Card for things like visits to my Optometrist or visits to my Dermatologist and they inevitably flag the transactions. Keep detailed receipts!!! You're gonna need them. I provided a recent receipt for a Dermatologist and they denied the original citing lack of detail and they just denied the subsequent detailed receipt. All that I'm left with is a feeling of total frustration and anger when all that I want to do is use the benefit that is already being deducted from my check. Need to split the blame between Discovery and BCBS of Texas. Both irresponsible and each blames each other for messing up my insurance payment. Made second Cobra payment on January 2, 2020 and as of January 15 , the coverage has not been updated. Discovery and BCBS each blame the other, and in the mean time I could not get my medication because Walgreen ask for an enormous amount of money. COBRA medical and dental benefits thru Discovery Benefits. Dental has been canceled in error TWICE in a row because of Discovery's ineptitude. I type this sitting in my dentist's office about to pay out of pocket, again, because Discovery screwed up, again. That and the fact that they want an egregious $20 fee to make payments online (while mailing a check is free) ensure that we will look elsewhere for coverage when COBRA ends. I concur with what the other people are saying. This company is horrendous. My former employer transferred Cobra administration to them. I'd never signed up for vision and dental and never paid for it previously. The former employer said I had. I spoke to Discovery twice and they told me all I could do was fill out a cancellation form. I put the date of them starting to administer the coverage. They rejected the cancellation and continued to bill for the services moving forward. They said that was the information they had and that from their perspective the form was filled out incorrectly. I wish I could give negative stars. I'm trying to sort out an issue, which after a week and a half, can't seem to get resolved, over an incorrect birth date. The correction form was filled out and sent in over a week ago. As of today, I have been disconnected twice and have a total of 4 1/2 hours on hold. They are the worst. I have also filed a complaint with the BBB. I've been holding off going to the doctor (and I really need to) because I'm afraid I'll get stuck with all the medical expenses. Discovery Benefits engage in unfair business practices, which amount to essentially theft. Transit benefits taken out of a paycheck belong to that person. I no longer work for the employer that contracted with Discovery Benefits to provide these services, so I have now lost access to over $300 in my money, which I am told is forfeited. Spending accounts are for a specific tax year, and I am essentially being told that they will not reimburse me for transit expenses incurred during that year and will not reimburse me from my account. I am told that the money goes back to the company, which makes no sense. Nobody was able to give me a reason why my money would be forfeited back to the company, and I was unable to get a supervisor on the phone. This is what we call theft. read more

I cancelled it after it took 3+ months to get my card to use thinking I would have the ability to use the card still for the funds I had amassed. They cancelled my card, and said because I no longer had an account, my funds were forfeited and they will be keeping them. Theft. And I will be filing a report with the DA of North Dakota (where they are headquartered) as well as a civil suit. read more

No matter how much documentation you submit, they will reject and ask for the same information you have already provided. Customer service reps are nice as can be, but can't do anything but write a message to the people who process the claims. I wish I could give a -100 stars... I sent my requested documents, and now my employer is garnishing my wages for 2054.00 for services I had for approved procedures. Now I have to pay twice 1500.00 I used to pay for my braces and and a copay for an MRI for my daughter. Not to mention the 359.65 that was refunded to my FSA card that they also sent to my employer that they said I never gave documentation for, and that is the only they they have fixed. read more

Discovery Benefits charging a $20 "convenience" fee to pay my Cobra premium is adding insult to injury. It is not convenient it is criminal. The rep told me if I give my bank account information and the right for DB to make withdrawals from my bank that there would be no fee. I previously wrote a review of their company when they marketed as "Discovery Benefits." This company delivers the FSA program for my company and has for the last 7 years. I participated every year and each year I vowed to stop taking the benefit because WEX delivery of the service was sub par and their customer service is atrocious. They try their best to make you fell like a criminal or like you are dealing with a collection agency when they are trying to re-document information they received in the medical office transaction. For example, I had a physical, part of the physical was blood work. when my physical is completed, the data automatically syncs with WEX. The lab billed separately, but is obviously for the bloodwork completed as part of my physical. They do not try to resolve problems in the same month they happen. they wait until 8 or 9 months later when it requires time and attention to resolve. Frankly, i believe it is a run for cash to increase company profits. How many people fail to resolve issues and have their funds frozen or stolen by WEX? Apparently this problem is not unique to me, as there are many reviews here stating the same frustration. Also, there are 594 negative reviews of "Discovery Benefits" on YELP. I just declined my FSA for the first time ever because WEX is terrible at what they do. My spouse has a different provider at her company and has never had a problem. I am now participating in my spouses benefit, i feel very relieved to know i was able to change. I wouldn't recommend WEX to an enemy. If you are in HR and reading this, do your employees a favor and pick a different provider. If you are an employee and this is your only option and you cant bare to give up the tax savings, use at your own risk, complain when they treat you poorly and wait until the end of year to threaten you, i am sorry. if you have any other option take it or increase another pretax benefit, just do not use this company. if you have a roll over account, you can transfer it to another program, so when you leave don't forget to take any roll over monies. Advice to WEX, train your people to do their job. Teach your employees that the reason they have a job is because people like me use their service. Stop trying to steal back funds in the 4th quarter to pad your profits. Do your job in real time so the receipts and other documents are easy to retrieve. When i imagine the WEX office, i imagine the office in the movie "Office Space", lots of worker bees plowing through ridiculous amounts of work and incompetent's middle managers failing to lead. Even though the money comes out of your bank account its not actually viewed as paid on (in my case) UMR's end for up to 10 business days! Wex handles reimbursement for the flexible spending accounts (FSAs) offered by my husband's employer, Johns Hopkins University. Wex is absolutely awful!! The worst of the worst! They request receipts for things that are already spelled out in the insurance company's explanation of health benefits. It's ridiculous and is simply a way for them to try to hold on to our money that we have earned. All these requests waste a huge amount of my time and are very frustrating to deal with. I'm considering forgoing the FSA next year and just claiming the medical and dental costs on our taxes because I'm so sick of dealing with Wex. If I had a different choice for a company to manage my FSA, I would take it in a second, but Johns Hopkins chose Wex for all their employees, undoubtedly because it's the cheapest. Discovery benefits is the worst company I've ever worked with and are dishonest at its core. I changed my COBRA coverage during the middle of the month and requested that it be effective at the beginning of the following month. My wife and I had already seen a doctor earlier in the month under the existing plan and they had already taken payment for the month. However, Discovery made the change effective at the beginning of the previous month which resulted in us having to pay for the doctors visits and lab results out of pocket. I submitted a claim and contacted them by live chat on May 10, I waited till June and nothing came to me, then I tried to call and waited for so long without anyone answering, I also wrote an email to complain (I also tried live chat but I couldn't get connected). On 06/24 I received an email saying "a check will be issued on 6/24/2019 for your claim reimbursements", now is July 11, still not received my check. Garbage FSA admin company. I had an out of network office visit. Made a claim for the full amount with a copy of the receipt and got denied. Asking for new receipt with date of service, description of service, name of provider and dollar amount, which all are on the receipt I uploaded.
