I was told by a rep that I had a 30 day grace period to make payment That she was extending to cover the fact that they didn't process my payments for 19 days. I talked to a manager who basically said sorry we lied to you, you are fucked and wont get insurance until you make payment in full. seriously?? Declined my FSA purchase (covered dependent had an ultrasound - seems pretty "medical" to me). Provided them with the only receipt I could get for this visit and charge - still declined it and made me repay it. Then, required another random receipt, which I submitted, and they still locked my card/funds - remember, this is effectively locking me out of my own money. Tried to call customer service (only available during M-F business hours, of course) - phone number is temporarily unavailable. Tried to live chat with someone, which just opens up a tab/window that closes automatically and takes me back to their worthless website. My husband was laid off due to COVID, we are now paying for COBRA benefits and since April our health care provider has not updated their files that he has insurance benefits and is indeed paying for COBRA. They don't have receipt of anything from Discovery Benefits. We are paying Discovery Benefits over $425 a month for this COBRA coverage and can't even go to the doctor. I have called three times now. Each time they tell me they will send the forms to UHC and that the data will be updated within 5 working days. This has not worked for me so far. This time I asked to be copied on the form so that I could confirm with UHC the receipt of their confirmation of COBRA. I was told they can't do that. It his health care and his money. Why not? So I guess if an emergency comes along we just put a rag over the bleeding for 5 days? read more

They want uploaded documentation for every doctor visit. The name of the doctor is clear it's medical related. The website is so slow it takes forever to upload. After uploading itemized billing they refuse saying they need more documentation. So annoying. Not even worth the pretax value. I would pay to have things simpler. read more

I don't even know where to begin. If they had a rating that would be the absolute worst possible rating under say -100000 I would use that. ok, so here it goes. I pay my Cobra benefits through them. My benefits went up $18.78 per month at the start of the year. I pay through my bank with a bill payment program. I mistakenly forgot to update the amount of the automatic payment. My fault 100%. Fast forward to March 19th. I have to get a blood test done for surgical clearance for the following week and get a prescription filled. I find out when going for the blood test that my benefits have been terminated on 1/31/2019. So I can not get the blood test or the prescription. I call Discovery and tell them what happened, thinking ok, a little chuckle and here is my payment info, and my benefits are back in action. NO!!!!! didn't happen that way. I was told until I paid the $18.78 that they would not be reinstated but I could not do it over the phone or on line. That I HAD TO send the payment overnight and in money order form. This idiot who was helping me seemed to not care at all. So I do what he says. $2.00 for the money order and $30.00 to overnight it. I call the next day and ask if there is any movement on my payment. The woman said probably not because they pick up the mail real early and it probably won't be looked until the following day!!! So I wasted $30.00 on an overnight fee. So I tell her well at least I used a money order so when you get it it will go in my account with no waiting since it is as good as cash. She then told me a check would have been ok since the amount was so small it would have been considered like cash anyway. Wasted $2.00 on a money order fee. Following day. I call and they still had not gotten to mine yet although I was told it was a priority. Finally, i get a call, late and they say it went through. Now the day before I, under the advice of the person I talked to sent in 2 more payments through regular mail just so there would not be any problems. $1363.00. that last part is important so keep it in mind. Ok, so good news money order went through but I am showing delinquent for the month of march although there is a 30 day grace period. So I tell the woman, oh no problem I sent you 2 months of payments so I am good up until the end of april. She tells me because it now shows the March problem I have to pay one month. I said well that will take 5 days to get to you by mail and she says well you can just pay it online. Pay it on line? Really??? Told I couldn't do that yesterday but now I can??? So now I have to shell out ANOTHER $664.00 to get things current. So that is now THREE payments paid in advance. Oh and by the way I got to pay something they call a convenience fee of $20.00 when I made the online payment. So now I am expecting her to contact my health insurance company right away after $2000.00 worth of payments, and an extra $52.00 in needless fees. She now tells me to call my insurance company and get a 3 way call going so they can reinstate me. The insurance company never heard of this so I get the email address of the person at my insurance company and call Discovery back. I get someone on the phone and they said ok we will take care of this. I said what does that mean? She said that they will submit an email request to the payment dept. UUUUGHHHGHGHGHG!!!!!! So I wait about an hour and call my insurance company, no luck. In fact they emailed Discovery to be proactive because they were aware how important it was and had not received an answer from them. So I call Discovery back and I am now told that all email requests generally take 24 hours to complete. So here I sit typing this review out of frustration and still don't have my benefits reinstated, surgery will be cancelled and I can't get my medication. All over $18.78 that led to over $2000.00 that led to no reinstatement. HORRIBLE, DISGUSTING, WORST WORST ABSOLUTE WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH. I HOPE TO GOD I NEVER WILL HAVE TO DEAL WITH THEM AGAIN AND I HOPE NO ONE ELSE EVER HAS TO EITHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 355 reviews and they have a rating of 1! Maybe time for a class action law suit! It's shocking to me how awful they are. I truly believe it's a plot to keep our money by making it so hard to provide receipts. My biggest complaint is log-in. I do everything perfectly and they say something's wrong with the password. So I go through the whole process of getting a new password ALMOST EVERY TIME I TRY TO LOG IN. I'm on password number 9. First of all you need to realize they put source to a call center named Sykes. These people work remote in homes all across the USA. What this means to you is people you probably would never even say hi to have ALL your information. Your social security number, your birth date, your address your kids names, your spouses name. They say you need a secure office to work there. That is laughable. I have seen agents working in closets, living rooms folding laundry and watching life time. Kids running in and out. They ask for receipts for every single transaction which is ridiculous, I have them for a FSA account and it's just very inconvenient I preferred the old company we had. I have a denied transaction which I have to pay them back because my medical service provided didn't invoice me until months later and they denied the transaction because the service is from 2018. This review does not deserve one star. I had previously had issues with these people (DBI) last year and I'm having the same issue again. What I had been advised to do last year so I would not encounter the same issue this year did not work this time. These people are very controlling with what you can do with your money that has been applied to your card. I submitted all documents and receipts required and I'm still be denied on a claim that is eligible. I m not understanding their methods and I feel they are dictating what I can do with my card. I only use my card for eligible expenses and I still get denied. I would not recommend FSA through DBI. It is a frustrating process to go through. It is not worth it. read more

Previous charges for similar services with the same vendor were approved with this same documentation. I have had to call Discovery Benefits twice, and it remains unresolved. Horrible for FSA. Requesting receipts for doctor copays and even my MRI. Most recently they demanded repayment for my co-pay for my surgery and suspended my card until i did. It's my money and I used it to pay a legitimate medical expense. When you are sick, the last thing you need is them making things worse with paying your medical bills. Zero stars for literally the worst company I've ever dealt with. They take your money and then decide you need to keep repaying "denied" claims due to "missing information" on the end of the provider or medical company. Everytime it's some other rule that my receipts don't show. They originally denied an entire $800 vision bill, when I ignored it for several months suddenly it was "accepted except $31". They'll freeze your account after so many months of not repaying back a denied receipt. I've had to turn in receipts for the majority of my purchases/medical visits and even after that have paid an additional $250 out of my own personal money (don't worry, take comfort in knowing they "reimburse" you by putting that amount back in your HSA to "spend"). If I wanted to put 250 extra into my HSA I would have elected to do so at the beginning of the year with my husband's employer. I also called and I have yellow and red marks on 3 bills stating I owe money, and upon calling the company I had proof from debit card transactions that I repaid the denied ones back in October. The lady on the phone almost denied it again so it could be sent back to me to pay again. Thankfully I had record of payment. The shadiest and worst company I will never elect to use their HSA again-no amount of tax free discount is worth the stress and extra money I've had to pay back in denied claims. read more

UPDATE: Mike kindly sent me a general customer service phone number, as that's apparently how the company cares about their customers. As of today, 04-FEB we still do NOT have active dental insurance. The WORST service I've had so far in the US. The Company took over our Cobra dental plan insurance, and it's been almost a MONTH and our Dental insurance is STILL inactive. We've re-enrolled as instructed on time, paid the premium on time, called Discovery Benefits MULTIPLE times only to hear that "we've sent your information to the dental insurance, nothing more we can do; let them call us". Are we really expecting the dental insurance to call some 3rd party benefit administrator? Also, who's going to make that kind of call? A regular call centre rep from the Dental insurance?! The Discovery Benefits representatives don't seem to know how things work in the US. It's YOUR responsibility to ensure that we, as customers, have uninterrupted and valid coverage. I cannot visit the dentist and have to reschedule over and over again my visit, because the dentist office keeps calling me and saying our insurance is invalid, and offering to pay out of pocket. I got that the insurance is retoractive, but when will it be finally active, if ever?! Even if I pay out of pocket now, my claim will be denied by the dental insurance because I do NOT have ANY dental insurance as of now! I really don't want to end up going back and forth between dental clinic and dental insurance for months to get reimbursed. That's not what I've signed up for! Multiple phone calls and emails. I have now been on hold for 40 minutes without assistance. I paid my cobra on April 1st. On April 5th they reported that my insurance ended on 3/31. It is now 4/22. Last week I spoke to someone who said that they would put in an urgent update. They did update my medical provider but not my dental and more importantly not my prescriptions. I am now out of two prescriptions that I cannot get filled because they haven't reported correctly. I've paid for this and it fills fraudulent because I cannot make an appt or collect my scripts. Hey everyone! I have stage 3 Cancer and ALL my claims have been denied. I've spend 20+ hours on these while in the hospital. I've submitted them about 10+ times, spent countless hours on the phone with representatives assuring me they would get them fixed. First it was a form they needed to fill out, second it was I needed to resubmit everything, third it was the company they outsource on the claims they no longer use, fourth it was the system is automatically classifying them wrong and denying them. I've been working on this since being diagnosed in November and am unable to get my $1,800 out to pap providers. It's gotten so bad my medical team at Mayo has offered to send letters. I'm stuck on what to do so our family attorney has advised a lawsuit to get my money out and sue for additional time and damages. No one with cancer should go through this. I've spent more time on claims for these companies and the stress from this has been more at times than chemo as I'm unable to get my money out to pay my medical teams. This company hopes you will give up so they can keep your unclaimed funds. My husband purchased Medcline incline pillows from FSA store that stated on both websites no prescription was needed. They are holding our account hostage until we provide a prescription that we aren't legally required to provide. Customer service is a joke. After hours of phone calls, was told by a "supervisor" that he would not dispute or escalate our problem. "Josh" would not give me the name of his direct report or the name of any one else in the co. to voice our concerns to. Every purchase or claim is fraudulently held up requesting info that is already on the receipts provided. Different excuses are provided every phone call. In certain circumstances there should always be exceptions. Due to a timing issue between finalizing Auto Pay for COBRA and when Discovery Benefits recognized we signed up our benefits were cancelled with no notification sent. We only found out when we went to our physician and were informed of no benefits. We were informed that if Auto Pay isn't approved by the first of the month there is no grace period and you must submit a check. Still trying to find that in the confirmation notification that indicated Auto Pay was successfully set up. So now we have no insurance and will need to wait for open enrollment in November as being cancelled by Discovery Benefits, after paying for one month and setting up Auto Pay, is not a qualifying event. All we got from customer service is sorry but nothing can be done. read more

And Yes, I've called in 6 times and each time, a new representative told me to do something different and it still got denied. Looking for the magic spell to get DB off your back with your FSA spending.... I've got it I found this document (Notice 2006-69) from the IRS - since that is who Discovery kept "blaming" as the reasoning for denying my claims - and I uploaded that along with the same receipt I'd already provided that they'd previously declined. And like magic - within 24hrs my denied claims were approved and my card was reactivated! I had been privately messaging folks with similar complaints on here - but now that I've spent all of my FSA $ I don't have to worry about retaliation from DB. I didn't have any issues with a single transactions since I uploaded that IRS form earlier this year either! For one, they even said I needed to document the subject matter of conversations between one of my family members and that person's psychologist. Worst service I've ever seen. I have so many required actions on my account because they don't just take a receipt from a medical professional. They need several other forms which they do not clearly state which forms exactly for a simple allergy shot. I will protest during enrollment next year for our provider not to use discovery benefits. Clearly they don't care about their customers since most reviews are 1 star wishing they could do 0. Oh....to top it all off they are now denying payments because of a $10 charge from my allergy shots that had a receipt and medical necessity paperwork.
