Melange of sweets and gifts/souvenirs! Ice cream, homemade fudge and chocolates, hand-knitted accessories and toys, t-shirts, etc. The chocolates and fudge are generous sizes to match the price. I tried a few pieces which were all delicious. This place is sure to be nostalgic. We've been to this town two years in a row for work. Ice cream was excellent and very generous servings. Waffle cone, regular cones or cups available. Fun candy selection especially if you like the retro stuff. It is right by the marina so great location to sit outside although it was too windy when we were there so we stayed inside. They have a comfortable dining area as well. Dropped in at the end of the their day. They hadn't put their closed sign up yet, but invited a group of us in even though they were cleaning up for the evening. My daughter and I stopped in to get some fudge when we were on vacation last October. My daughter inhaled the entire thing before I even got to try it. So we went back last week and stocked up on fudge and their salted caramels. They make the best fudge that I have ever tasted. And the salted caramels are amazing. I am addicted. Wow where do I start? Becky the owner used to be a stranger, but now is my friend. She has the best of the best in that store but the most important thing she offers is excellent customer service. She has put together gift baskets for me over the phone. She has made incredible Valentines day gift baskets, Easter, Christmas, Birthdays and beyond. \ She also now carries hand scooped ice cream...lots of great flavors and a local favorite. The store was cute and had a nice selection. The problem was that there was an indescribable odor so strong it sent us running (smelled like a sour pet store or something pet related). Literally couldn't continue shopping even though I wanted to because the smell was so bad. read more

You can absolutely NOT leave Brookings without visiting Whale's Tail! From the moment we walked in the front door until we walked out with goodies in hand, we had such a delightful experience. The owner, Becky, was super nice, friendly and informative. And there were so many yummy goodies to choose from! After Becky told us that she made all of the chocolates herself (with no preservatives), we had to buy two of each kind (well, almost). One of our favorites were her dark chocolate "Tidal Pools" topped with dark chocolate. So unique and delicious! Service and quality with a smile! That's what you will get here, and consistently. Today was my second visit, to pick up a special order that arrived quickly and with a reminder phone call. The order arrived quickly despite Becky telling me she had to reorder because the first package arrived in poor condition. This attention to detail and quality earns five stars for me! Her hand made chocolates also earn five stars. Quantity and selection are quite limited, but you can be sure it's all fresh. The salted caramels are another thing I returned for today. Both the milk and the dark are good and since I couldn't choose, I have had to get both! The salt-water taffy is the old-fashioned kind, made with egg white, which took a bit to get used to, as it is initially hard so you have to remember to hold a piece in your mouth for a minute before trying to chew. ...but it's worth it as the flavor and texture is far superior to the more common taffy made with coconut oil. It also keeps longer, in case you somehow manage to have any left over. While I was in the shop, someone popped in to thank Becky for the freshly caught crab she and her husband shared recently. I felt like I was in an extension of Becky's home. This was actually my third visit. My first visit was with an elderly friend who thought she remembered a place down on the boardwalk that had good taffy, but the shop was closed that Wednesday. The shop is closed Tuesday and Wednesdays during the winter slow time, which is understandable, but the only negative I could come up with. I wonder if the poor review concerning the bad smell was due to something out of the owner's control from the nearby harbour just a few steps away? That reviewer did not state if he asked the owner about it. I only smelled chocolate on my visits. read more

HARD Salt water taffy!!!! My hubby and I went in and we each picked an assortment of salt water taffy from their individual flavored bins, paid and left. Half way down the road we both tried one and almost cracked a tooth. I took each piece out of our bags and they were ALL hard as a rock. I mean hard!!!! SO sad and disappointed. Selling rock hard taffy is bad business, even if we are tourists and won't be back through this area, it's just not nice. Plus it was expensive, it's pretty much the main kind of candy they sell. I'd say we had a good variety, and if every piece was hard, this is just dishonest business. read more

This cute little store is somewhere you absolutely must stop when visiting the town of Brookings and the Harbor. Becky is the sweetest women! Very friendly and helpful, she told us where we could find and do certain things around the harbor while we ate our ice cream (which was oh so yummy!) The store is cute, clean and easy to navigate. Sells taffy and other little assorted candies, chocolate and fudge (also very good, I always get some when I visit here) and ice cream.
