    Prada 2005 re-edition

Coco at the Original NYC location was an angel. Had such a blast shopping with him at both locations and can't wait for more treasures. Coco was so attentive and helpful in my search. And let me try on whatever I wanted while also giving me the space to decide without inter ferning. He also walked us over to the other location and helped me find something I've been searching for, for a while. 10 out of 10 would recommend. Thank you, Coco!!

    Counterfeit bag, receipt.

Paid 1100 for a lv bag that resells at 850 at the highest on reputable sites. Tried to resell and all required verification and deemed it was a knockoff. Cannot get a single response from the company. So sad.

I purchased this wallet from online vendor for $586 with first time "discount" and taxes. They sell the same BRAND NEW Walter at LV for $590. Why the hoax? Why have people believe it Costa $795 for a wallet that is $590 on actual retailers store. Please note this was an online and not in store purchase but beware of mark ups.

I would give it a zero if I could . I bought a Giovanni Versace top for $700 for my birthday a year ago . I've lost weight and can no longer wear it . I've tried to sell it to other reputable vintage stores and have been turned down by ALL of them because it's fake . I've sent an email . I tried to sell it back. Haven't heard anything from them .

    Proof of return

My wife purchased a bag on 4/23 through Amazon. We received it and promptly returned it the same day 4/27. Only opening it to put the return paperwork in it. Although Amazon said it was refunded, no refund occurred. When following up, this retailer finally (3 weeks later) got back to Amazon and said they were refusing the return because "tags were removed". They are lying. My wife has collected Chanel for 40 years and we would never take a tag off anything. Total lack of customer service. Why would it take 3 weeks of pursuing the retailer only to find out they did not honor the return? I've written to the co founders, so we will see if they rectify such abysmal customer service. Judging by other reviews it appears to be SOP for this place! I even have receipts.

My thoughts, Yes it's just a tag, however, I bet if that tag is removed the bag has to go through each authentication again.

I am sure I took lots of photos and did a review but they're not posted here. Bottom line is they have a wide variety of unusual items that people donate. I really enjoy looking and sometimes I find a nik knack for my daughter! There's always CD's and books too. I'm recommending you visit either location.

But when things are normal, the lighting is excellent, the clothes are well organized and the staff is always, and I repeat, always polite and friendly. They are business people and this is their business and customers need to understand that. As with any business based on donations, you can find wonderful things at very reasonable prices or you can find nothing at all to your liking. But that is why Unique Boutique -- and each item is unique -- is so much fun. A note -- someone reviewed it saying "I called to ask about furniture and the guy said no and hung up the phone..." This is what I mean about customers not understanding retail...you asked a question, he answered it and why should he stay on the phone with you ? There is no way this store has the space to accommodate furniture and once that is clear, there is nothing more to say, so salespeople hang up. If you would like them to apologize for not taking or selling something impossible, that is what you expect culturally, but other people do not think that is necessary in what is not a personal relationship. You asked a question, you got an answer, good bye, move on.

E.g. an old cashmere sweater full of holes $30, a small yarn of wool not enough for making a cap $10, tacky no quality jewelry above $20, etc. Still some people come and are looking for some "treasures", this cannot happen, because all those might never reach the store shelves. However, I would give a high credit to a foreign born owner (barber) to establish those stores to absorb at least to some extent so much clothing and other items that otherwise would have finished in the garbage cans. This only underlines an urgent need to establish a high capacity thrift stores in dense populated affluent Manhattan areas, at least 3 mega Good Will stores were closed in Manhattan during last few years, apparently because of a total incompetence of the top highly overpaid staff and not dealing with mass corruption at all levels, best valuable items hardly make it into stores or appear on online auctions. So, if a foreign born owner can run those stores and still with some profit, why across the country tax free store chain decades in existence cannot do the same?

I'm appalled by the way Jonathan, the owner, responds to many of the 1-star reviews here on Yelp. Not only does he appear to respond mostly to negative feedback, but his tone often comes across as rude and overly defensive. Jonathan, having a business for 30 years doesn't give you a free pass to be dismissive toward people who are simply sharing their experiences. There's always room for growth and improvement. Instead of being combative, take the time to really listen to your customers and consider their concerns--this could lead to positive changes and an even better shopping experience. That said, I visited this consignment store a few days ago, and Jonathan himself was actually very helpful and knowledgeable. He took the time to explain the consignment process and was very pleasant throughout. The store itself is a bit overcrowded with clothing and shoes, which can feel overwhelming, but the selection is solid and the pricing is reasonable considering the focus on high-end pieces. While the clothing leans more mature, there are definitely options for all ages. This shop is exclusively for women--I didn't see any men's items, but that's not a dealbreaker for me. The clearance section is located upstairs, and while I did find a lot of regular designer names, I didn't spot many high-end pieces there aside from a few pairs of shoes. Also, the upstairs area definitely needs better ventilation--AC or at least a few fans would make a big difference, as it was uncomfortably warm. As for handbags, I might have missed them since I was more focused on clothes and shoes, but I didn't see any notable high-end options in that category during my visit. I plan to return soon with more time to explore. Despite my concerns about how the owner responds to feedback online, I didn't experience any issues personally during my visit. I actually had a positive shopping experience, and I would recommend this store. I just hope that in the future, there's some improvement in how customer feedback is handled publicly--it really does make a difference.
