I surrendered my membership to the twilight crowd long ago, but after a Saturday afternoon of drag racing in Lufkin ended at 2 a.m., we were faced with the dilemma of finding a late night place to get a bite to eat. Thank goodness for Whataburger and their signage that you can't miss, especially after passing dozens of convenience stores and fast food restaurants that had been closed for hours. We rolled in at 2:30 and there were several other people taking advantage of the 24-hour service provided at this Oasis. Jesse greeted us and took our orders. He was very friendly and chatty. Business was slow and he could tell we weren't regulars. Jesse approved of our activities and said he would check out the drag strip in Lufkin. I ordered the chicken strips with gravy for dipping. Jesse asked if I wanted the Texas Toast. He wanted me to know that it cost extra because if I wanted it and hadn't ordered it, I would be mad at him. I told him that it wouldn't have angered me, but for a buck twenty-five I got the Texas Toast. Our orders came out to our table in a few minutes. The chicken was hot, crispy and tender. The gravy was white and spiced just right. The Texas Toast was just... toast (IMHO) but it was good for dipping into my remaining gravy. My buddy got a double Whataburger with onion rings. It's impressive that wherever you go, their burgers are the same. The patties fill the bun and they're both big. Fortunately for me, my friend couldn't finish his onion rings, so I helped him out. I am a loyal customer of this Whataburger. The food is quickly prepared and the staff is friendly. However, I can't give them five stars. Lately, I have noticed that it isn't as clean as it used to be and on my last visit the three girls at the window didn't greet me or speak to me at all except for "$4.54". No good morning, no have a nice day. They were too busy talking among themselves. It's Thanksgiving dinner time, you know after the big meal but before bedtime. The place is quite busy for this size of a fast food restaurant due to most places being closed for the holiday. The place was clean through out. They seem to have plenty of people working tonight as service is fast and the food was accurate, hot and fresh. It's nothing spectacular by any means. I would have given them a meh three stars; however, they didn't complete my order properly, leaving off the bacon. Then, when I went back to inform me I could see them mocking me in the kitchen. Very insulting. Just left this Whataburger -it was the nastiest Whataburger I have ever been to. The floors were sticky. They were out of Dr Pepper and I went to counter to ask about it and was told ok. Then the manager on duty wet over and double checked me and then did nothing to fix it or mark it out of order. I saw at least three other people try and get Dr Pepper to no avail. Road trip from San Antonio to Monroe, LA and stopped in this location due to being starving. Bought lots of food and it was so-so. Paid $1.65 extra for bacon on a double burger and didn't get it. My husband took it to counter and staff didn't seem to care. Onion rings room temp. It's fast food so I don't expect much, but $40 later we left disappointed. Have been to this whataburger plenty of times just usually go to the drive through visited this location at around 1 almost 2 in the morning this morning the place looked clean we ordered and I looked back into the kitchen and no one in the back had on gloves and the Mexican manager was in the back preparing our food bare handed I said something to the girl that had taken our order about how she was making our food without gloves she said something to the manager about it and the manager smarter off how she was busy and she didn't have time to slip a pair of gloves on and that she used sanitizer on her hands. I'm sorry what.? So I was like no ma'am that's not ok I don't want you bare handedly making my food she continued on with attitude and I asked for my money back when she went to give my money back she had disgusting fingernails it could have been food in her nails idk but its unnaceptable to make someone's food with bare hands and expect them to not get upset over it. I feel had she calmly handled the situation it would have ended differently like hey you caught me ill remake it with some gloves on. I went in side rather than drive thru due to it being so early, big mistake waited 5 minutes for me and another elderly customer to be acknowledged. Once I was finally having my order taken half way thru order the lady stops me and says hold on and proceeds to taking a drive thru order and didn't even acknowledge me again so I politely said have a nice day and walked out. read more

30 minutes to get our food. They weren't too busy and at 20 min wait mark I went to the counter and asked. Several people who had came in after us had received their food. Finally at 30 min they brought our food and said the apple pie was free for having to wait. read more

This is the cleanest nicest whataburger OR any burger place we've been through n a long time. It's bright and clean...very inviting. The employees were very sweet and friendly. We especially loved Tabby and her nice smile! And the burgers were great but the onion rings were NOT on my husbands diet!!! read more
