Wow!! I always love checking out new food trucks and just happened to stumble upon them at an event today! I usually don't choose seafood as a food option unless I'm at a seafood restaurant but thought I would try today! I am soo glad I did! I got the 2 taco combo with the Cheddar Chicken Ranch taco and the Island Shrimp taco with a side of fries! Everything was delicious but that shrimp taco was out of this world good!! It was so perfectly breaded with the most delicious pico de gallo and pineapple topping! And these tacos do not skimp out-they were huge and filled to the brim! Service was fabulous and incredibly fast! By the time I was done paying it was already done! I love that the food truck is an airstream trailer! How cool and retro of an idea has a restaurant! I had the pleasure of grabbing a bite here this past weekend. The staff was super nice! From beginning of order to grabbing my food was maybe 10 minutes. That is fast! I ordered the Old Bay Shrimp Basket. I wanted tacos, but as a Marylander, it is really hard to say no to Old Bay. The shrimp was tasty, the fries were well seasoned, but the true star was the spicy signature dipping sauce. It was spicy but not too much so. Found this cool Air Stream Food Trailer parked at the community center in my neighborhood when leaving the pool. It had a nice size line in front so had to check out the vibe. I checked out the menu in front of this airstream trailer and everything sounded good. They offer fried chicken, fried shrimp, grilled mahi, and pan seared ahi tuna tacos with various toppings. If tacos aren't your thing, they also have shrimp and chicken baskets, and hush puppies as a side. I was at a food truck event so I decided to try just one taco from this place so that I would still have an appetite to check out other trucks. When I went up to the window to order, I asked whether the taco was was served with anything else. Often times, a few chips or a small side will accompany the taco. For $6, I thought that might have been reasonable. But, this truck just serves a single taco. I ordered the First Street taco - grilled mahi with a pineapple mango salsa, peruvian sauce, and pico de gallo. When my order was ready, the ladies in the truck joked that they almost ate my taco because I took so long to come back to get it. The taco had a huge piece of fish, much larger than the size of fish that I was anticipating. It was sitting on top of a regular-sized flour tortilla and it had a good amount of toppings. Initially I was worried that the tortilla would not be able to withstand the weight of the fish or the juice from the salsa but surprisingly, it all held together. The fish was very nicely prepared and seasoned and the sweet salsa complemented it so well. It was really good and it all tasted very fresh. A grilled tortilla really would've made this wonderful. If I see them out again, I will definitely stop by. It was worth the $6. read more

Would you like to know the catch? The service. (Do all us Yelpers and yourself a favor and remove your "unknown" deal off your Yelp page if you aren't keen on honoring it.) The catch is that they don't want to honor the Yelp check in reward (1 free drink with food purchase). They deny knowing anything about it. Then they try to get you to sign up with their own rewards program. Then put a guilt trip on you. The guy trying to convince me to sign up for their rewards program called out very loudly over my shoulder to the guy in the food truck, "oh i guess i'll pay for this one." Meh. not going there again. I can always go to Flying Iguana for some delicious tacos. (I've only had a small glimpse of Flying Iguana's legendary goodness at the MOSH Yelp event and I am already hooked. They were bursting with much more flavors than the tacos at What's the Catch.) However, If this guilt trip and outright denial doesn't bother you, then feel free to have a taco here. They are pretty tasty and they have creative combinations of flavors. At Whats the Catch, the Key West taco has a nice mix of flavors and the 1st Street Taco has peruvian sauce in it. Delicious! But still not as spectacularly tasty and addictive as the taco I had from Flying Iguana which definitely runs miles around the Whats the Catch tacos. Finally got around to trying What's The Catch. These guys turned an Airstream into a Taco truck. Surely they can turn Ahi Tuna into deliciousness. They did. I had an Ahi tuna and a shrimp taco. They were both tasty and presented well. These aren't your typical street tacos. They are what I call 'fancy Tacos'. I appreciate the fresh, quality ingredients. However the tortilla was not on par with the other ingredients. Shrimp was cooked perfectly and the tuna was lightly seared and fresh. Didn't get any bold flavors from the tuna taco but it was good with the accompanying sauce. The two tacos mentioned above will set you back $13. A tad bit overpriced in my opinion. About a grillion years ago when food trucks were a new and different thing, my very first food truck eats were from What's the Catch..i remember that shrimp taco as if it were just last night..and I also remember the friendly face and great customer service I experienced. Fast forward to now..i went to the taco takeover food truck rally..i went after the gym, so I was sweaty and hungry! My friend and I had the Key West taco which was grilled mahi and had a jalapeno aioli...it was perfection, and not bogged down by any heavy ingredients so I felt like I was making a somewhat smart choice..it came with a hushpuppy and some lime slices as well..great presentation, awesome flavors ,and that same smiling face that greeted me last time. I love seeing this food truck around town - the 1971 throwback silver Airstream always catches my eye when I see it around Hodges and events around Jacksonville. What's the Catch has the best fish tacos I've ever had in Jacksonville - and I've tried a lot! The fish (and toppings) are always fresh, grilled with a light crisp and served with great flavor combos. They also don't skimp on the fish and shrimp as I've seen other spots around town do - these are big chunks that won't disappoint. So far I've tried the Key West taco (fresh grilled grouper with citrus, chopped lettuce, some pico, avocado, cilantro and a drizzle of lime cilantro sauce), the Baja Beach Taco ( blackened grouper, corn & black bean salsa, some chopped lettuce and their signature sauce) and the Blue Lava Shrimp Taco (fried shrimp covered in a mild Buffalo sauce and Blue Cheese dressing, with celery and carrot shavings on top). All worth trying, and I can't wait to try the rest of the menu. Even though they were busy when I stopped by, the staff was handling the crowd with ease. I went here on my lunch break. I went right at 12 o'clock so the lunch rush was there and the line was long but they really knocked it out quickly. So if you see these guys with a long line don't worry. I was impressed. I ordered the shrimp basket with fries. By the time I finished paying my food was ready. There were two people in the food truck and both were very friendly and efficient. The menu was well organized and had a variety of different seafood tacos to try. Next time they are here I plan to get one of their tacos. I was just in the mood for something fried and the basket didn't disappoint. Tried this truck today for lunch. It was alright. The service and folks working were awesome. The taco had potential. I ordered the 1st street grouper taco and had hoped for a great experience. Unfortunately the pineapple salsa topping couldn't mask the very dried (almost hard but definitely not flaky) piece of fish. The ingredients tasted fresh but the tortilla shell left me underwhelmed. Since I ordered only one taco I also got a side of hush puppies. The sauce the hush puppies came with saved the day because the puppies weren't much. They had a good shape? Not sure I would try this truck again which is a shame because the menu sounds like most things I would love. read more

I really didn't enjoy the Ahi Tuna...it was supposed to be spicy but I felt the whole thing lacked flavor. What really can I say about What's The Catch food truck. They are really great people who genuinely care about the food that they serve you. John J public will get the best and the freshest seafood that they can find. Then you add a couple (Richard n Brett) of beach raised guys that have the in with fishermen and purveyor's hell they were some great fishermen. This was my first experience with this food truck and i wasn't blown away but I was very satisfied. I ordered a grilled grouper taco with pico & mango pineapple salsa. This fish was very good and I loved the marinade they had on it. Also the hushpuppies were great. The only downfall to my meal was I didn't get as much food for my money as I thought. For 1 taco and 4 hushpuppies I paid 8.56 and the fish wasn't even as large as the taco so there was a bit of my taco fishless. I visited the food truck at the Jaxson's Night Market, which takes place every 3rd Thursday of the month, downtown across from the Barnett Bank Building. I had 2 tacos, the Baja Beach taco and the Key West taco. Both had a large piece of fresh grouper on it and a delicious sauce with other fresh ingredients. My favorite was the Baja Beach with black bean and corn salsa on it. A table set in front of the truck also offered a large variety of hot sauces, which I really enjoyed. The tacos weren't very good and definitely not worth the money. For those of you who haven't tried flying iguana... Check it out and see for yourself. It's much better and there's no fat cook leaning and sweating on your food. I especially wasn't very happy when I found out he runs another business in Atlantic Beach, FL.
