I've got to say that this unassuming food truck never fails to disappoint. Every time that I fly into JAX I have to get my fix. My only disappointment is when my flight arrives when they are not open for business ....but you can bet on my stopping by for some outstanding tacos every time I get into Jax and they are open. I like stopping by this food truck occasionally to get some tacos. I haven't had other items on the menu yet. I got 3 Tacos Mexicanas with Asada (steak) and both hot sauces, (rojo and verde). The only issue I had was that when I tapped to pay with card, it seemed to auto include a tip..I didn't get a chance to choose one. So my total was $16.00+ afterwards. So keep an eye on that if you pay that way. Their hours seem a bit spurratic. I have drove by this taco stand so many times on Main Street, but this was my first time stopping to try Happy Taco Feliz. I will say that I enjoyed the tacos, and they give a decent portion. There is a good variety of items to try including elote which was very nice to know. I will say the location may not be my favorite for eating outside, but it was fine for a to go order. Happy Taco Feliz is a taco food trailer located in the parking lot of a small strip mall that has definitely seen better days. It would be easy to drive by here without even noticing it yet if it were not for the amount of vehicles parked around ans everyone waiting in line. It was a particularly cold day when I stopped by, downright freezing (ok, maybe not technically as it was only in the low forties) and had me hoping for the line to move fast and I could escape back to the warmth of my vehicle. I ordered three tacos, a steak, a chorizo and a lamb taco. They were delivered pretty quickly and I retreated back to the warmth of my vehicle where I promptly devoured my three tacos. Out of the three tacos, the chorizo taco was my favorite. The hot sauce they gave me was pretty exceptional, as well. Permanent food truck. Five star service. Five star food. I have to tell you that I was not expecting to enjoy this spot, but my son loves Mexican so I thought I would brave it for him. Guess what? I really loved it. First off, it is a food truck but it has a permanent location. Also, it is not a secret, When we went, there was a steady line of cars stopping and the line moved quickly. I asked a couple of people in line what their favorites were and the consensus was "EVERYTHING". On our trips we tried: Tacos Supreme-I had this as a veggie version, I was not overly thrilled but I realize I need to refine my order. Burritto-my son got this with steak and he was delighted. Quesadilla-another solid choice, my current favorite. Tacos Especial-another solid choice. One of the Hilo guys is really the number of meat options they offer. Standard options like pork, chicken and steak, but added items like lingua, Alhambra, sausage and a few other items i cannot remember. My idea is to find something you like and try different meat options. Or try different meats and find one you like, then try that meat in different dishes. Either way, you cannot go wrong. Parking is plentiful, but can be dicey with everyone coming and going. People are polite and will move if asked, so don't worry if someone pulls in behind you. Passing through Jax and need something handheld that I can eat while driving and a burrito sounded like a great idea. Shockingly, there are not any good Mexican or tex-mex places off of I95 or the beltway or I-10 between the Florida Georgia boarder and the US 301 exit on I-10. You can find a 4 star+ place if you're willing to go out of your way but not right off the highway. There is, however, Happy Taco Feliz and only a couple miles out of the way. Got the pollo burrito and really enjoyed it. Very simple chicken, rice, beans, pico end cheese (left off the sour cream), but they do simple well. Their hot sauce is very hot though so be careful. They're very friendly and always a pleasure to see when we go by. The location is not hard to find and my only "issue" is that the cars fly by and the truck is kind of close to the Main Street. That's not something they can truly help so it's more of a personal fear of mine given how bad the drivers are in that area. Overall, recommend them 100%! What a hidden gem. I drove out of my way since I heard that these tacos are comparable to Texas tacos and while they're not exactly the same, they were pretty bomb and hit the spot. I initially came to get the birria tacos which is a Saturday special. It comes with 3. Then I ordered a steak, a lengua, carnita and a pastor. Not sure what exactly is the price of each but my total was $25 before tip for 7 tacos. $3 something each, not terrible. Normally I eat 4-5 street tacos but the tacos here are not street taco sizes. They're super filling. Love that they actually do two corn tortillas and that they're also not stingy with the meat. The tacos were bigger than I expected and I could've gotten away with just getting 2 maybe 3. Limes are actually juicy, I hate when I'm given dry limes and they give cucumbers here which was a first for me. The spicy sauce was good but I wish it had more heat. Got the mild to try but definitely preferred the spicy. My only complaint with the tacos is I wish there were more onions but I love a lot of onions and cilantro on my tacos. The birria tacos were good, will have to finish them for dinner but really the winner was the pastor and lengua. Sooo good, tender & flavorful. Ordering was super easy. Usually there's a language barrier but not here and the workers were so friendly. Food only took 10-15 minutes. Will definitely be coming back Thursday to try their tamales.
