This buffet is the best in the Tri-state area. The food is great quality. They have a huge selection. The Asian foods section and desserts were my absolute favorite. The waitresses never came around to ask if I wanted a drink refill, but they did clear our plates. The price is fair and the food is fresh. I definitely recommend this buffet! I'm not a gambler so I can't say if this is good or bad. I can say that if you want to lose money this is a good place to do it. It seemed that while I was there for a couple of hours no one was hitting. Not sure if that's the norm. I do know casinos aren't out to lose money. Then I went to order pizza at that stupid food bar place and they said the computer lost the order and I waited 50 minutes and they didn't even offer me a refund so I canceled the order and they allegedly refunded the order. This property by far has some of the best staff I have ever came across. I have stayed at many locations for work meetings and this by far has been the best. From every staff member and manager, I encountered the hospitality really came through. The catering staff is the best I have ever encountered; the food was amazing at every meal they provided and at all the food spots I tried while there for the week. The casino and atmosphere is beautiful The hotel can use some work and better experience. We had a room on the 4th floor. No mini fridge as advertised on online. The lamps had markings on them and were dented. Our bathroom sink did not drain the first time we used it then it made a big suction noise and worked after that. The toilet doesn't get some of the toilet paper down & the wallpaper was tearing seems cheaply put together. The staff is not good at communication or knowing policies I got told 3 different check out times and the one lady said they were fully booked and the parking lot was empty. we lost a lot of $ in food sense there was no fridge. We got refunded a full night extended stay because of our experience. I'd give another chance but there needs to be work! Avoid this hotel at all cost! Upon check in we signed up for players card. I won a free stay but was told I couldn't use it for this stay but I had 30 days to use it. We were 5 hours from home and drove an additional 90 min to stay here to enjoy the casino for the night. We checked into our room. We paid extra for river view which was an absolute joke. See attached picture. We immediately began inspecting our room for cleanliness, starting with the bed. There was hair left over from another guest in our bed! I called downstairs and they moved us to a new room. Once again, we inspected our room immediately. The bed sheets were stained with various color stains and had hair from multiple different people (from various parts of the body.) We gathered our belongings and checked out immediately. My fiancé won $7 in free play for signing up for a players card so he tried to play on our way out but every machine we tried said he didn't have any credits on card. The casino felt very dirty, as if it hadn't been dusted or cleaned in a long time. The machines and tables were extremely old, and the atmosphere was dark and quiet, with no excitement from the machines. The poker tables were being used for blackjack, and everyone around looked exhausted. While the front desk staff were friendly, the overall casino vibe was completely lacking. The food court was just okay, low quality, but at least it was something since all the restaurants and even the gift shop were closed. Designed to squeeze every dime out of you on food, which, to us, tasted awful. We tried them all but the really expensive one. If I pay $62 for a steak and it tastes bad, It's gonna be bad for everybody, so I skipped that one. There is no pool. no gym. I had to run in the parking lot. also, don't leave the parking lot. bad area. no microwave or fridge in the room as promised. Took an hour and 4 trips from the 6th floor to the check in desk to be checked it because keys/locks didn't work. To me, food tasted like poorly reheated frozen burgers and fries.. $15- $20 with soggy fries that tasted as if they were cooked in old oil. the burger and breakfast meats tasted super gamey to me. I tried to buy 2 pieces of toast with peanut butter, I was told I could only add that for $6 to a $20 platter. 2 pieces of bread (from a 30 piece loaf that costs $3, I was charged $6 for. And they tried to make me pay more for a platter that I didn't want. Make a stand and they'll back off. They know how ridiculous the place is.. they work there. 99% of employees act like they don't want to be there.. and I don't blame them. I'll never go there again. really bad experience. I would absolutely, 100% choose a Motel 6 over this place. read more

First time coming to the casino after my sister invited my mom and I and we had a great time! The hotel staff was super friendly and informative of any questions that we needed answered and the room was clean and had plenty of room. * only negative thing was it didn't have a refrigerator* The gaming area had all of the slots that I normally play when I go to a casino and had low max bets. The casino staff kept the gaming area clean while we were there and were friendly while they were walking around. If you've never been to the Greyhound dog races I recommend checking them out also! I had never saw them before and they great and placing bets was easy to do. We didn't win a lot this trip but had fun and we will all be back. read more

Stopped here once MANY years ago to play some poker and recently returned after a ball game in the area. My main concern is the total LACK of sidewalks outside. I know that is a weird ass take away but it was raining, we parked in the self-park, and I'm not going to walk through mud to lose money in a casino. Also upon departure we essentially were walking in the middle of the street because again - no sidewalks....... Anyway - I like the inside and it has totally changed from my first trip. I recall the poker room being downstairs somewhere, whereas now it is right off the main room. The buffet also is right near the table games but due to lackluster reviews we are locally instead. Played some roulette- and after a slow start, ended up +75- taking home a couple $1 chips for the road and $2.50 pink chip as well. The dealer and security were both welcoming and fun to deal with. Wouldn't mind coming back - if they get newer chips!! read more

Like others said, the slots are tight. When you first come in, you have to show ID, or you can't come in. The non-smoking slots are way in the back. So you have to walk through the smoking area to get there. The ventilation is pretty good, only a slight smoke smell. I had the cheeseburger and fries at the food court. That is good. The fries are nice and hot and have a very big burger, all for 13 for the combo, including the drink. One thing the cash out voucher is only is valid for ten days. read more

Haven't been to many casinos, but this one looked about as good as any other. A boatload of slot machines of all types, colors, and sizes, along with a few tables of blackjack. Roulette, and craps. The cigarette smoke situation was not good though - probably the biggest turnoff for me returning. Also, finding help or sometimes take a drink order while you played was non-existent. Otherwise, I still had a fun time with my wife and friends that evening. read more

This could be a great place even though it is a little out of the way. We went out of our way to try and stay here. Once we arrived we were greeted by a friendly staff member and given our room key. Once in our room it wasn't cleaned properly. The sheets were wrinkled as if the had already been slept in the night before and had tons of hair in the pillows and sheets. We called the front desk and were moved to another room where we found more of the same. Waiting to pay at the buffet, I had a hunch I was going to be disappointed. I was right. Not only the poor quality food but now I'm out $30 and still hungry. First the positives - the server was very nice. As for the food, the beef was stringy, the chicken dry and overcooked, and the fried shrimp soggy. It isn't difficult to get a good recipe for mac and cheese (the one on the side of a Creamette pasta box is classic). I thought at least the desserts would be good. Nice set up in the middle of a really run down Wheeling. We stopped in while down for the weekend to go to the 1st Annual Oglebay's Backyard BBQ. We were there in the afternoon and it was still pretty busy. They have more than enough machines, tables for all types of card games, was a bit turned off at their bar as there was one video poker machine with a completely smashed screen that we were told was smashed on New Years Eve and hadn't been fixed yet... Say what? Are they waiting to turn a profit so they can fix it? No idea... but the bartender was friendly so if we're ever back down- we'll plan to come back in the evening.... read more

I was a bit amused at the maximum slot bet of $15 in the little 'high limit' room (which oddly was designated non-smoking) but I can't fault a casino on issues that are probably connected with the state's gambling laws. Big bright and clean with lots of machines, modern and traditional. I found plenty of dollar machines as well as the penny ones. There's a nice open sports bar with the most enormous screen I've ever seen, split into ten separate channel options. The bar of course has individual poker machines at each seat. Prices were acceptable for a casino. There's also a free soft drink machine and free coffee bar. Bathrooms were comfortable and clean. We did not experience the dog track or hotel but I'm thinking this is probably a fun place for an overnight stay as well as a day of gaming. Buffet looked good. Plenty of parking. read more

On Sunday, 16 July, my wife, Shirley and I, went to Wheeling Island Casino in West Virginia. We left Springfield, Ohio at about 6:30 am. We stopped at Donald's Donuts, in Zainesville, Ohio at about 8:30 am and bought 8 variety donuts. We continued on to West Virginia and stayed until about 3:30 But that is another story! Our trip to wheeling island was fantastic! The food we had was really good (we ate at the BUFFET). Service was excellent and ambiance was great. Make a weekend of it and stay at the hotel on site. Watch some dog races and visit the casino, you will not regret it! Definitely recommend this beautiful place! read more

Please do not stay here. We showed up at checkin time (4pm) and the desk agents were incredibly slow. After waiting 20 min, we reached the front of the line and were told that all of their rooms were dirty (even tho we had a reservation) and that we should try back in an hour. As me and my husband had an event to go to, this was unacceptable. However, we were told by management and customer service if we cancelled same day, we would still be charged because TECHNICALLY we could still have checked in sometime before midnight-- and that the 4 pm checkin time does not guarantee you a room. horrific customer experience. not to mention, all restaurants were not open and bathrooms were disgusting and unusable. read more

Noticed that there was a promotional to receive $20.00 free play if you sign up for a preferred card. This is only for new members. When we got there the line was not busy. I was able to get a card really quick and staff was extra friendly. I like the setup of the Casino, the gaming selections. What's great that most of the areas are non-smoking. There is a section for smokers too. We didn't stay at the hotel or watch the races. Was only there to gamble. With my free play, I won $26.00. I walked out with free money which wasn't bad. Casino was decent but machines are tight, 4 of us nobody hit more than $20 anywhere. Not smoky as some, but definitely smoky still. Non smoking area is small. Most staff was polite and helpful. One very rude maid always complaining about people not wearing mask trying to make you feel bad when in a hallway by yourself. Ran across her 3 times and was always rude or complaining loudly behind your back. Don't think we'll be back, because of her and the winning level. read more

They got those really weird locals that sit right next to you when there is like 100's of machines available. At least they don't talk to you usually. It gets worse when they talk. There is a very weird habit I see from the machines here that will "run you up" to just where you started at the machine. If the machine is a random number generator, how is just running me up just above where I started all the time? Shady. If you come here, avoid the slots. Maybe they aren't screwing with the the table games. If they are messing with the slots, they are probably messing with tables too. And their sportsbook closes at like 10PM, so if you have winning ticket after 10PM, come back tomorrow. WTF is that? This place only exists to exploit the little money that the locals have. Two stars for two very specific reasons. A. this is awful for non smokers, the minute you step off the elevator that wall of smoke hits you like a ton of bricks, and for people who have asthma, or copd, or any kind of allergies, it is not pleasant. There is a "non-smoking section" but its very small, and very secluded to the back of the casino, meaning its not close to the bar area for drinks, not close to the live music etc, its almost like you are punished for being a non smoker. B. this is advertised as a "race track" which is why my boyfriend specifically booked here, however the last "race" was at 5pm and check in wasn't until 3:30, by the time we got there, checked in, etc. they were already starting. OUr room over looked the race track so we figured we would just watch, there was an advertisement for racing at 5, we waited until almost 6 pm and saw no racing... some other downfalls were how extremely hot it was in there, our room felt great, but the restaraunt (pointe) and the casino area was boiling hot. I know some bars use this tactic to get people to buy more drinks, but if thats the case here they should turn some AC on, especially with the smokers, there was no circulation and it was kind of miserable. I will say the hotel part of it was the only nice part, very clean room, comfortable beds and a nice view, we ate at the pointe restaurant i will leave a separate review on their page. read more

The buffet is reopened. But they are so afraid of people eat too much. You can eat as much as you want on non-seafood item for $30 entrance price. But you have to pay extra on seafood at $10 per pound. Not a good deal. And certainly should not be called a buffet because it is not ALL YOU CAN EAT. read more

I stopped by here this past weekend and spent 2 nights in the hotel and also visited the dog track, casino and buffet for breakfast twice. The casino itself here is fairly small although it does have a table games area, poker room, and a no smoking slots area. Drinks are reasonably priced and for the small amount of time that I spent playing the slots they seemed to pay out well. Where I ended up spending most of my time was at the craps table. They have two of them available but on both a Friday and a Saturday only one of them was being used. This led to people being two and three deep both nights which led to overcrowding of the table and an experience that wasn't as pleasant as I would have liked. Finally the poker room seemed to be ok with about 8 tables in it and both nights that I was there were 2-4 limit and 1-2 no limit games going on. The dog track ended up being a pretty nice place. We took in the Friday night races of which I think there were 14 with a few different distances. Programs ended up costing $1.50 and you could wager with either humans or a number of automated machines. There were also a number of seats available with televisions so that you could bet with the simulcast of other races. I only really got to see the buffet for breakfast, once by myself on Saturday when the place was pretty dead and the other time with a group of 12 guys on Sunday when it was packed. Whenever we asked for a table for a group of twelve we were given the choice of either waiting to sit together or splitting off into groups of 4. We chose the groups of 4 and sat at three different tables. The buffet itself was decent enough. There was an omelet station, a carving ham and all of your traditional breakfast items like french toast, pancakes, bacon, sausage, hash browns and even some cheese blintzes. Everything that I had here ended up being good, the sausage gravy being an exception to that, but nothing was excellent. Even so the $10.60 (with tax) that this cost was easily a good deal. The hotel might have been the highlight of this whole place. While I can't say that it was anything too special the rooms were pretty nice. There was plenty of room to walk around in your rooms, they felt clean and had the 32 inch flat screen that all of the hotels seem to have now. My favorite part about the room was that it had a Keurig in it and every night that you stayed you were given both 2 regular and 2 decaf pods for it. The only complaint I have about the room was that the lighting in the bathroom made the shower dark. The bottom line for me is that I will probably be back here again in the future. If you are in the area it is definitely worth checking out although don't expect to be blown away by anything. read more

The casino is very smokey and my clothes smelled like smoke after being there for an hour. Even though there's a non smoking section, you still have to walk through the smoking area go get there. (Having a non-smoking area in a Casino is kind of like having a non-peeing area in a pool) This casino is comparable to other stand alone "racinos". To be fair, we stayed here for a baseball tournament. Wheeling Island opened up a block of rooms to help accommodate the "Beast of the East" baseball tournament. I rather wish they had not. This was designated as our team hotel. When we walked into the lobby with our teenagers and little kids and luggage, we were blown off our heels by the incredibly overwhelming stench of cigarette smoke. There were 11 people in line to check in. There was one clerk. This was not an efficient process. The guy was doing his best, but it took 38 minutes for us to get checked in. Yes. We timed it. Our room was on an upper floor, and was spacious, recently remodeled, and had a nice-sized fridge - though from talking to the rest of our team, most rooms did not have a fridge. There was also no laundry, no coffee, and no breakfast. Not a place to stay with kids, Did I mention that already? Yes. Important point. Also...I have never stayed in any hotel ever where housekeeping did not include making the beds. Have you? I called the front desk about this. Every day. Because it kept (not) happening. The staff seemed to have no idea what to do in response to our complaints. They seemed to be trying to make us happy. They left us piles and piles of bath products. They still did not make our beds. Did I mention that we did tip them? Every day? And they still did not make our beds until we complained? Every day? Did I mention the stench of cigarettes? Yes? OK, let's keep going. I did like the gym. It's small, but the equipment is nice and I had it entirely to myself every time I was down there. Because casino. The TVs were up very loud and there was no way to turn them down. So I worked out with my headphones up really loud and still listening to news shows I did not want to watch. Or hear. We were there for the 4th of July, and we had a stunning view of fireworks from our comfortable, well-appointed room. So that was awesome. And the next day, there was a flash flood that had cars in the parking lot up to the middle of their doors. There's a strip club across the parking lot. Did I mention this is not where you want to stay with kids? Speaking of which. One of our families had a 6-year-old. Every single time mom as much as stepped into the lobby, there was a security guard on her in a hot minute, acting as if she planned to go gamble with her kid in tow. She was trying to take him for ice cream, down the VERY NARROW pathway to do that. I mean seriously. She couldn't walk through the lobby. Or hallway. Or "family-friendly" ice cream parlor.She got yelled at even if she was trying to walk out the door to her car. I am so glad I will never have to set foot on this property again. If you love gambling and cigarette smoke, more power to you. I would rather be strangled and thrown in a ditch than stay here again. read more

I stopped in for an afternoon of gambling before traveling further for wedding at another locale. This was my first visit it. I recommend taking a little time to orient yourself to the place, it's pretty large. Tons of slot machines that were all pretty active. I learned the upper floor was the "smoking" floor and downstairs was the "non-smoking" section. Non-smoking section is no where near the size of the non-smoking section. Except for the poker section, all the other tables were in the non-smoking section. The dog racing was fun to watch. Seating is very limited. Prices seemd a bit pricey for someone who is not a regular. Become a regular and the amenities may not be as pricey. read more

Easy parking. Nice-sized casino. The convention area/meeting space is a little tough to find, tucked away all the way in the back, beyond the food court. The staff here is friendly. The acoustics were pretty good in the loud convention space. I wouldn't mind returning here to play some slots. read more

What a shitty room for a huge price! Stayed on a Friday night and was charged $255 for a room that should have been $59 a night. Room smelled like smoke. The shower barely worked and backed up water past my ankles when I showered. It was disgusting. Also the toilet ran all night, and loud I could hear it in bed.
