The programs assist all the students in exploring and honing their musical abilities --and beyond that, young musicians are able to form meaningful alliances with their bandmates and their instructors. Kids have shared with me that they had been anxious to perform until they were supported and encouraged by their teachers. At School of Rock, these students built the confidence to take the leap to performance!! It is so exciting to see the growth and camaraderie at the seasonal shows! I see it in all the kids!! School of Rock is inclusive and supportive-- my child feels at home there.

I came to the store to try to get the sheet music for my son's NYSSMA Level 1 on a Sunday. The…read morestaff checked their inventory and advised me that this store did not carry the music, however, their other store had it. The lady advised me that it would take about 7 days to do a "transfer", meaning having the music shipped from one store to this one. The other staff, a gentlemen who has long hair (I think his name is Shane) offered to pick up the music from the other store on Monday and brought it to this store on Wednesday. He personally called me on Wednesday to let me know the music was in the store. Unfortunately, when I got to the store and picked up the music, we notice there was a discrepancy and it was not what my son needed to play for NYSSMA. The gentlemen helped me to look into other places where I may purchase the music. He was very kind to offer me directions in terms to where to get the correct piece of music. I was very grateful for his help. I did not make a purchase at the store this time, but I will definitely come back in the future if I need to purchase music pieces and/or instruments.

Student rental experience is a hassle. There's a reason this store is not on the list of rental…read moreplaces for some of the area's schools. Consistent with other reviews, issues with the instrument are always the fault of the careless student and can never be a defect in manufacturing or normal wear and tear. Moreover, the repair I paid for didn't solve the problem and an instrument switch was out of the question. When you turn in the instrument, there is a hard sell for you to either continue the rental, buy it outright or buy something else. You can't simply return the instrument without a sales pitch that needs to be rebuffed. That having been said the store does have a lot of instruments and music equipment for sale, does do repairs, is located right on Sunrise Highway and they seem to be connected in the professional musician industry. I just wish it was run better.
