Really bad experiences twice. It's not necessarily the stylists, it's the management. Have booked specific stylists the two times I've been there and both times they switched to a less experienced stylist upon arrival. First time they gave me a credit because they gave me the wrong stylist, came back for the credit and they did it again. Probably good stylists just wildly mismanaged. read more

Been here five times with a new person each time. They get zero stars. No one has listened or given me an excellent haircut. The salon charges you extra for straightening or curling as part of your cut/dry, which if you don't want to pay, then you will not know how the cut actually looks. I travel all the way from the Boston, MA area to get my hair done at Whip Salon, Westport, CT. My favorite colorist, Cara, is a delight to work with, always interested in how I am styling my hair, what my hair goals might be, offering tips as well as recommending products that have always been spot on. I am 66 years old and never do I feel I'm ignored or dismissed. With silvering grey hair, I asked Cara to help with blending my greys with revitalizing blonde high and low lights. She works methodically, just like an artist to achieve the dimension and shine most of us seek. The result is natural and it lasts because the Whip Salon products are good for my scalp, making me feel as youthful as possible, for as long as possible, while still honoring my age and how I like to style my hair. Love this place! Staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is awesome! Highly recommend Alyssa if you need a color or cut. She specializes in vivid (fantasy) hair and was an expert at taking me from my washed out violet color to what she calls raspberry blue (dark blue on the roots fading into aqua blue). Kelly is amazing at what she does. I was a client of hers at another place and when I heard she moved to Whip Salon I immediately followed her. Aside from being such a positive, kind person, Kelly always has me leaving the salon feeling exponentially better than when I walked in. I fully trust her to give me the exact look I want, but what I love most is how conscious she is of preserving the hair's health when doing any treatment or coloring. I had a great experience for color correction- they asked me what my budget was- we agreed on a price- then charged me all of these hidden fees for "services." I've been having my hair colored for 20 years and never experienced anything like this. I will never be back. They were so dismissive when I asked about why my bill was so high. So sad because it was a great experience until the very end. read more
