Yes I totally recommend these guys. I work down the street from the salon and they were able to pop me in for a quick cut. Valerie, the Owner, cut my hair and the entire salon made me feel at home. Valerie loves dogs as much as I do and we hit it off nicely. My cut was perfect and I was super happy with it. Be sure to check with pricing before your cut. I got sticker shock a little bit but you get what you pay for They do have parking lot of their own They take Venmo, Cash and Check read more

Having no access to my NYC hair guys in recent years, I was happy to follow my wife's suggestion and try Val. Best haircut ever! Val and staff are friendly, know all sorts of ways to make my sheepdog head look great (I tend to run 6 months between cuts) and I get huge compliments. Definitely an OK place for guys! read more

Today was my second visit to Aval Hair Salon. My first visit I had my hair cut by the owner, Valerie. As a first timer I was made to feel right at home. The receptionist treated me like an old friend and every person I encountered there was nicer and more accommodating than the last. Valerie did an amazing job with my hair and I got complements every where I went. Today I had Cheri do a special request color for me. I am a natural redhead and never touch my color beyond minimal highlights. Recently, I was inspired by some social media posts showing whats called "geode hair". Its basically your own hair color with a big hidden wedge of bright gemstone shaded color in the middle. I wanted purples and blues. I realized this was a challenging request, but Cheri rose to the challenge and I am in LOVE with the results! I am going to try to post a pic from my phone. Also my 14 year old daughter who has crazy thick, long, curly hair got a blow out while my color set. Best blow out I've seen on her! All in all I am beyond happy that I found this place! It is my new go-to salon in Fairfield County! read more

Stay away- is my suggestion. This place is not a salon, it's a barber shop. I went there after purchasing a Groupon and was dissatisfied with the whole experience. The hairstylist squeezed me in between her customers, cut my really short, not what I wanted and what I explained to her, but I guess she was busy talking to her fellow coworkers. Oh, and should I mention the receptionist made me pay the full price for the cut, just because I was not a "new customer", I happened to have been there once about 4 years ago. Also, there was no parking available, and the owner told me she couldn't "create more parking space". Money not well spent. If you want good service, go to a professional salon, this is what I will do. read more

When you call and ask about the groupon voucher for gray highlights the lady just say: of course, no problem! So you drive in a raining day to meet rude people who thinks you are stupid: oh just pay more 87 dollars honey! Don't waist your time, time is money! read more

People are very nice. My hair turned out Ok. Mostly disappointed because my partial highlight consisted of very few foils and I can still see my roots. With a 280 dollar price tag plus tip I would expect more effort --but in the end my hair looks fine. I'll just have to get it done sooner than most places who pack a lot of foils and go down to the root. I won't be back. read more

I can't say enough wonderful things about this salon and the ladies who work there. Cheri is a goddess. Took my awful, untreated hair and made it look spectacular with full highlights, a great cut and style. She is such a good person and you can tell she really loves what she is doing. The owner, Valerie DeVito worked as a colorist/stylist in Darien for 18+ years. She bought what use to be A Head of Time, and transformed that salon into the elegant, yet cozy and friendly, Aval Salon!

Then when I sent over photos of the ruined shirt he followed up with photos of my finished hair and the top of my shirt (stain is located at the bottom...) saying "The color looks wonderful and your shirt looks great there is no stain. Have a great weekend". It is really unfortunate that an accidental stain on a $98 shirt has led to such poor and honestly, disgusting customer service. I had a flight to Italy the next day. I called to and from nails to see if they could potentially help me out. My nails were very thin and in so much pain. Unfortunately, they were completely booked up and cannot help me that same day, however, the manager told me to send in pictures of my nails to see what happened. Again, my nails were paper thin and you can see it in the photo. I received an email saying that they could try to squeeze me in the next day. Again, not to be dramatic, but it literally felt like my life was ending. The manager took time out of her own shift and help me with my nails. Although they couldn't do a complete removal (my nails were so brittle any type of shaving would cause more damage). I was treated with the utmost care. They did everything they could and save my nails. Honestly, so thankful for their time and generosity. I got to keep my nails for the trip to Italy and that made me really happy. I have been going to Val for 14 years for highlights and hair cuts and am so excited about the new salon. The color of her highlights is perfect and Val is a true professional while also being a wonderful and caring person. She will do anything to make sure that a client is happy with their service and experience. Everyone who works at AVAL is friendly and welcoming - from the receptionist when you walk in to the women who shampoo your hair. The shampoo ladies have been professionally trained by massage therapists and I have never had a better head massage at any other salon. I also go to Donna for my eyebrows which are just perfect ! Every service at AVAL is top-notch by true professionals in their field. I would recommend AVAL to anyone who wants to receive high quality services in a professional and welcoming atmosphere. I fly from Dallas Texas to Darien CT once a month to get my hair styled by Chrissy. I find that Aval Hair Salon provides a comfortable atmosphere in a contemporary environment. I love that they offer a full range of hair and nail services along with, facials and spa services unlike anywhere here in or around the Dallas metroplex. I also find the staff to be professional and helpful. I can't say enough good things about Aval but that I will continue to fly from Dallas Texas to Darien CT to get my hair styled by Chrissy and take advantage of everything they have to offer. read more

I was so happy to be back in Stamford visiting some friends, and thrilled to have a chance to get my hair done again at Avals Solon, well they certainly haven't skipped a beat since the last time I was in town.
