I visited this establishment for a book release and was pleasantly surprised at how quaint and eclectic it is. It is very well decorated and would be a great place to have a nice beer with friends. Having a coffee shop attached provides the best of both worlds. The bartenders were nice and responsive to questions. The only thing I thought was strange was that there was a corkage for canned drinks bought from the location if consumed on site. I've never encountered this before and it's worth mentioning. All in all, I think this is a great spot and definitely worth a visit. read more

This is one of those places I have driven past for 10 years and had always been meaning to stop in and check it out. Well finally I did and was pleasantly surprised and impressed. While it might not seem like anything from the street, I can tell you the inside is nicely decorated and gives a warm chill vibe. I understand they do mostly coffee when the sun is out and evenings it's a shift to more beer and wine. I arrived about an hour before closing but was warmly welcomed. I had time for a nice beer and a look around. I can see this would be a great place to hang out. I do not know the internet situation but seems like it would be a great workspace too. The sign says I believe Beer/Wine/Food I did not see any food options but there was a single food truck in the back so maybe that's something that has changed. What a wonderful local bar and bottleshop! As a big fan of most of what the Milk District has to offer, I just knew this little spot would easily become a favorite little duck-off spot of mine. And that it is! I got the chance to visit this spot for the first time for a book signing event a few months back, and I was truly surprised. It is a bar/bottleshop with an eclectic yet modern-ish, homey feel to it. There is ample seating throughout the venue, cool, yet history-packed decor, and a fun fact is that they open their space for various local businesses and talent to host events of all kinds. Parking can be a bit of a challenge - but this tracks for the entire Milk District area. So, keep that in mind. There is also a coffee shop connected to this venue - so, if that's your jam, I've heard nothing but great things about what is offered on the coffee front. As far as the bar and bottleshop go, they have a pretty decent craft beer selection on draft. Their wine selection is pretty decent, too, but I haven't had any, so I cannot really speak to which is my favorite or not at this time. And they have a GREAT canned craft beer selection. If you don't drink alcohol, they also have a great selection of NA options - one of the biggest selections I've seen in a while, too. I tried a couple of their NA beer selections, and I was quite pleased. The price points, as well as the variety in their selection, make it all worth it - if you ask me. The staff is super kind, and the service is pretty quick. While they were a bit busy during the book signing event I attended, they moved well with the crowd, so wait times were minimal. I should note, there was a small fee applied to open/pour any canned drinks if you had them in the venue. That was a first for me; however, it did not take away from the overall positive experience. The vibe at this place is so chill and very different from what you might get at some other larger places. It's so chill and relaxed, and the bartenders are fantastic. We've been here for events like bingo, book club, trivia, marketplace, and each night has a different feel. But it's always outstanding. Finally got to stop in while out one night and the place is really something more than I expected. The decor inside is super cute and inviting. The restrooms even have matching colored toilets to the decor and walls inside (pink and green). The staff was friendly and there was a great beer selection. We were able to order and enjoy our drinks at the bar. The wall outside did say food, but there was no food listed on the menu. Not sure if the food truck is the food option or since we were there late they don't have items listed. Either way it was a great place to stop in and enjoy a drink for the evening. read more

Whippoorwill has become one of my favorite beer spots in the Orlando area. They have a coffee shop as well so if you're hanging out and don't want to drink you have other options! (They have N/A and THC bevvies as well.) I love that they have their inventory online, it helps when i'm looking for something specific and their prices are very fair. They usually have some fun draft beers on tap if you're hanging out, you can also pay a small fee to drink the packaged beers on site. Idk if there has been a change in management or ownership but this bar is just not as welcoming as it once was. This is the second time I've visited and the bar wasn't open at the listed hour. I ordered 2 pints of beer and each time the bartender scooped out the head w/a foam scraper and would repour to pulling more out with the misused tool. Idk if this was done in order to reduce spillage by letting it go over the glass and into the drain but it wasn't a one time accident. This would have been weird but fine but the beer I was given for a pint with head didn't even go up to the top of the glass. They are also reducing their wine program by the looks of it. Much less on display then their was previously. Hope this bar can rebound back to where it was. read more

Came by for a drink on a Saturday night around 7:30 and was greeted by the friendly bartender. I'm in love with the vibe inside - so cozy and warm with lots of eclectic touches. The plants with the comfy couches and funky art made it feel like I was inside the cutest home. With a bar. What could be better? The bartender handed us the wine menu and showed us the beer menu on the wall. He recommended some beers based on my friend's taste and let her try a few before ordering. I went for a glass of the Pinot Grigio ($13) and my friend ordered the #2 Deviant Wolfe ($4.80 for a 10oz). We both enjoyed our drinks on a couch near the television. Others sat at tables or the bar. They also have a coffee bar in the back where they sell coffee in the mornings which is neat. There is parking in a small lot on the side of the building near the front entrance of the bar, but be careful not to park in the reserved spots for the business nearby. There is also parking in front of the building which is where I found a spot. It seems like parking would become a problem on busy nights so keep that in mind as the lot next to the building was already full by the time I got there at 7:30. I used to love coming to Whippoorwill. It had a chill atmosphere, the bartenders were cool, and it was a nice place to come and destress after work. In my most recent visit, the vibe was VERY different than what I was accustomed to. I came with 2 other people and we had each ordered an IPA from two women that I hadn't seen before behind the bar. They were tripping over each other, talking over each other, and both attempting to take all 3 of our orders at the same time. When we told them what beers we wanted, they asked us to tell them what number on the menu it was then proceeded to ask us to repeat ourselves multiple times while running back and forth to the taps, grabbing random glasses, then forgetting our number and asking us again. After a few attempts of this, they still brought us completely different beers than what we had ordered. My friend was even given a stout instead of an IPA. We did not correct them, as we were already pretty stressed with the hassle of ordering the first time around. Once we got our beers, they kept asking us if we wanted to try any samples of anything on the menu, which I thought was a little weird, considering that I already had a drink in our hand. We ended up moving to a table across the room because the two of them stressed us out so much. Again, I used to love the ambiance and overall vibe of this bar. However, if untrained bartenders continue to make it so impossible to order a single drink, I don't know that I will continue coming. read more

I can't believe I haven't been to this spot before last week. What a cool vibe this place is! You can come in the morning for coffee or evening for wine, cocktails or beer. They even have a little grocery section where you can buy drinks to take home with you. My friend and I both had a white wine that I wish I wrote down the name of, it was excellent! I also saw they have a wine club that you can try two bottles a month which I will look into! Five stars for the best neighborhood bar and bottle shop in the Milk District! Whippoorwill is like that little black dress that transitions perfectly from day to night. Fortunately, I get to work remotely, so I love coming here for morning coffee & toast from Easy Luck and then having a super productive workday on a cozy sofa. Before you know it, it's 3pm, the bar is open and it's time for happy hour (weekdays 3-7pm). They have great craft beer options on draft, a solid wine selection, and even a few yummy snacks on the menu. The package store and fridge are always fully stocked with lots of unique beer options to-go. When I'm feeling adventurous, I like to pick out a few things I've never tried (or even heard of) and take them home to enjoy. I also love the fact that they open their space to other small businesses and food vendors to host pop-ups and events. Most recently they've hosted Smoke Made Meats, Yugiri Ramen Project, and the Ceylon Hut Sri Lanken food truck, just to name a few. They truly support their community and embody their slogan "Our house, your house". I have been away for almost 3 months and I come by to my favorite bar being sold off to new ownership. Super disappointed at what's happening here. I spent about 2.5 minutes in there before walking out cuz it was a complete 360 on the vibe. The stock changed, the usuals changed and it just was a completely different angle and style (barring the exact same decor). Having been a patron of Whippoorwill for over 5 years, the direction it's heading in is very upsetting. I'm all for supporting local business, in fact it's my MO. And if a local staple is getting bought out by someone new, I'm all ears. But it's clear they're not all ears toward the community or its classic patrons. I really hope something gives and they reel it back to its roots; or at least just completely change the name out of respect, because it's soon to be a completely different space. read more

Love this place. I just recently found it on a whim. The vibes are very chill, lighting is perfect, decorations are awesome (I love the Orlando Magic setup in the corner), and staff is extremely friendly. The bartender Rafi in particular seemed liked a really chill guy. He and I talked Magic hoops and basketball for a little bit then talked about anime. Seemed liked I was talking to an old friend. It was also super busy and I noticed he was able to chat up every customer and serve them without a long wait for anything. The vibes were high, looked like everyone was having a good time. A fun beer stop with a great vibe and easy going staff. We headed in here to meet up with a few friends and hang out. There was a cozy little lounge area with couches, so we took up shop there. They allow you to order outside food to be delivered here, which was also a nice addition. They have a strong variety of drink options and the staff was super helpful in making choices. The staff is all friendly, the ambience is inviting, the seating is all comfortable and the draft beer choices offer a little something for everyone. They have a great selection of beer and wine in their retail area if you want to grab some drinks on your way home. If you want to drink beer/wine from their retail area just be aware that they have a corkage fee. They recently started offering some food like pretzels and sandwiches which is helpful so that you don't have to drive anywhere if you need to grab a bite in case you're buzzed haha - they also have a small selection of snacks like Voodoo chips and M&M's. My go-to place for craft beer and food pop-ups! A friend from Yelp showed me this place when I moved down to Orlando and I've been hooked ever since. The vibe here is always bright and inviting. Plants and warm colors everywhere. It's always a mood-booster walking in here and being greeted by the friendly people that work here. The craft beer selection is outstanding. They get fresh shipments of great craft beer from around the country. Unlike other bottle shops, they do you the favor of narrowing it down to just the noteworthy ones. Even then, I still have a hard time picking between the choices here because they are so good. Whippoorwill is singlehandedly the reason why I need a second fridge. The wine selection is spectacular too. I find it hard to come in here and not get at least one bottle. They always pick the most unique and interesting sounding ones. Whoever does the buying for this place has great taste. They also always have a ton of great beers on tap. A lot of local breweries too which is nice. Overall very solid beers. The food pop ups here are the best! This place was my first taste of Chicken Fire's Nashville Fried Chicken, back when it was a food truck. Now they have great ones like the Ceylon Hut, Hot Tamales Co, and PizzaSlut. There's always something fun going on here. This is such a great addition to this area of town! I love being able to grab a coffee and get caffeinated and then grab a beer right after. The staff are all super friendly and the vibe is super chill. I absolutely love the decor at Whippoorwill. It's how I want to decorate my house. (COVID era review update) I was compelled to stop by Whippoorwill the other day after seeing their social media posts about their Thanksgiving wine discount (10%) and the new bottles they had of a beer I really love. As I parked and walked up, I was happy to see they had signage on the door requiring patrons to wear masks. Their beer and wine bottle selection was well-curated, as usual, and the refrigerated beer was neatly organized by style with clear pricing. A big plus since I don't have a vast beer knowledge, but do know my favorite styles. Yay for trying new brews! The gal at the counter (wearing a mask) checked us out and she was a real pleasure! We chatted a bit as we were finishing our transaction and she made sure to give us the discount. * One more thing I want to note is not a critique of the biz, but a reminder for patrons of great small shops/eateries/bars/coffee shops like this. These places, of course, understand you can't wear a mask while drinking or eating. But sitting with a cup of coffee getting cold in front of you while having a full unmasked meeting with five other people, or working on your computer for an extended period of time unmasked is kind of an abuse of this. The gal at the counter is wearing a mask to protect you, and while you're not *actually* eating or drinking, you should put the mask back on to protect those around you. I'll be honest that it's a grey area and I keep seeing it around town. It makes anyone else in the same enclosed space feel like getting the hell out of there as soon as possible, versus browsing and potentially buying more. I love taking my laptop and working at coffee shops, just like anyone else, but be a good person and mask up when you're camping out with your laptop. /RantOver ANYway, Love this place and love supporting a local bottle shop rather than massive national liquor stores. read more

This place is super cute inside but I haven't been very impressed by the service or beverage selection during my two recent trips. My most recent visit was for a wine and donut tasting. I came early but still spent about 20 minutes circling around the venue for a space. Finally get to the venue (on time btw) and there is no seating. We find a place to sit in the corner of the venue where we couldn't hear anything about the food or drink explanation. It was a shame since the donuts were really good and I would have loved to know more about them. The drinks were ok which didn't help my POV on their authority on beverages. Overall I am bummed to give a 3 since I want to like this place but for a 4 or above, you simply must earn it and so far that hasn't happened read more

I went to Whippoorwill for the first time after passing it almost everyday on my way to work. It was much cooler than I ever anticipated and my only regret is not stopping by earlier. I'm not a big beer drinker and so I'm usually intimated when trying to order something off an extensive menu, but the bartender was super nice and very knowledgeable. I was able to find something new that I liked thanks to him. The atmosphere puts out hipster vibes, but it's not over done.
