After months of anticipation... I finally made it to Alfie's. It was exactly what I was hoping it would be: a slice of culture. Real people. Real life. Real youth. Real energy. Real good vibes. Orlando obviously has no shortage of places to eat, drink, and gather, but Alfie's belongs to that rare category of venues that feel equally at home in a major metropolis. It's the kind of spot that would fit seamlessly into Los Angeles's best neighborhoods: think Gold Line in Highland Park or the Vinyl Room at the Hollywood Palladium. Not because they're carbon copies, but because they share that intangible quality of genuine discovery and cultural curiosity. The crowd ( age range 25 - 35 mostly ) was genuinely engaged with one another. People were actually talking, actually present, not hunched over their phones. That alone felt invigorating. There was an undeniable spark in the room. Alfie's wasn't chasing trends; it was simply allowing them to emerge naturally. What impressed me most was how they brought it all together .. Retro stereo equipment and vinyl players from the 50s mixed with a bar area that's super sleek and modern. Conversations, music, the lounge itself .... all came together in a way that felt alive and IN THE MOMENT. When my LA friends visit, Alfie's is on the list. Go after 9 or 10 PM and plan to stay for at least two hours. That's when you really see the scene develop and come alive. Bring your ID: they card at the door. Even at my age, I still get carded. This is a cool place to hang out. The hifi bar. Drinks were an average price. There was plenty of seating and a dance floor to get loose if that's your thing. They made sure the air was ln for anticipation of a large crowd. I wish the outdoor space had a better sound system however it backs up to a residential neighborhood ( so let's not disturb the peace). We entered around 8 pm on a Wednesday. We considered getting a drink since it was cold inside and the music was good. However, we initially entered to get a picture in the photobooth for our friends birthday. There was no one at the door checking IDs. After we all piled into the photobooth, someone walked up and asked for our IDs. He wanted us to exit the booth to get them. Eventually said ok because we had already paid and on a timer. But he was very impatient. Let me add that there was not a single person in the entire place. NO ONE. Let me also add that almost our entire group is almost 40. So we're obv not underage. With the way he approached us and was completely impatient, we were a little turned off and left. Which lost them money on our entire group. He followed us out the door as we left. It was a weird experience especially when there was literally no one else in there. The music was good but I doubt and of us will to back based on that experience alone. read more

Love coming here with the girls! It does get pretty crowded on the weekends, but there's all different kinds of areas where you can hang out. Drinks are good. The dance floor is a fun experience, though people do have to walk through it to get to the back patio. The back patio space is nice and great if you need a break from the noise and crowds. Super cute vinyl lounge! They do enforce a small dress code that includes not wearing flip-flops to enter. There is a security/bouncer type of check in the front for IDs before entering. I enjoyed a very strong espresso martini. Inside it's very dim it. There is a vinyl DJ and there's just a few couches/seatings were the rest of the space is standing room. This is a great spot to come as a date night or to mingle with some friends. They offered a variety of music genres during my visit, including some Indie, classic pop songs and some salsa. Alfie's Hifi is such a fun spot. The whole retro vibe is done really well, great atmosphere and perfect for a night out dancing. The live DJ spinning old school records made the experience feel unique and way more fun than your average bar playlist. Even with the place packed, the AC kept it comfortable all night which honestly impressed me. Drinks were strong, reasonably priced, and the bartenders were happy to make off menu cocktails too. I used to go to this bar all the time when it was st.matthews tavern. It has been renovated to a really cool retro lounge. From begining to end the staff was so friendly and fun. It was good vibes all around. We went super early, right after happy hour at a nearby restaurant so it was pretty dead until about 10 but it was still super fun! I was surprised how affordable the drink menu was and everything I tried was delicious. Espresso martini and sex pistol were my faves. I had to look up some before going there (info by Orlando Weekly): The project was conceived by Nuriel Mawardi and is named after the Mawardi's father -- Alfie Mawardi, who they say spent many a night at the legendary Studio 54 in New York City. It draws inspiration from the vinyl listening bars Nuriel has visited in Tokyo, New York, London and Miami. It indeed felt like I wasn't in Orlando which I highly enjoyed. And it wasn't the line outside that gave me NY or Miami vibes -- it was the cool interior and its layout (the island bar near the entrance, which transitions to a sitting area with a small dance floor, which transitions to an ample outdoor area). The ambiance, the music, the crowd, all was giving some great vibes. Cocktail options are somewhat limited, but it seems they opted for simpler cocktails, a shorter list, and low prices, which combined is conducive to quick service. That makes sense, given how busy this place can get! read more

The bartenders were friendly and ready to serve. The garden area is a nice place to get some fresh air and order food from the food truck. I like the vibes here and it's a lot bigger than I realized if you include the room past the dance floor plus the outdoors area, which does not have the same cute vibe but includes an additional bar and a food truck. Dance floor was small but fun, there was a cute photo booth and the bathroom situation wasn't the worst I've seen. This used to be St. Matthew's Tavern and now it's a retro 70's vibe trendy bar. It's gotten a makeover and I can see this quickly becoming the next guesthouse but with a retro aesthetic and live DJ spinning on vinyl records. Love the music. I had 3 drinks, the pink lady- sweet and probably my favorite out of the three. It was gin based. As you can see in the picture, it was all mostly ice though. So I didn't even feel a buzz. My next drink was the milk punch, I was surprised it was a clear drink, smooth but couldn't really make out the jasmine tea notes. It was interesting, but wouldn't order again. Finally I got the midori sour, again full of mostly ice. A cucumber design that looked cool and a strong melon flavor. It was a good drink too but it was gone in 3-4 sips as it was mostly ice. such a cool place! i did a yelp search for "vinyl bar" and alfie's delivered on drinks, music and ambiance. was visiting from out of town and stopped by for one drink on a wednesday night just to enjoy some music on vinyl. it was chill for a weekday, but i can imagine it gets packed and lit. had the pink lady and tried the milk punch. both were delicious. contrary to the name, the milk punch did not have any milk or taste creamy. it was quite a refreshing jasmine tea. the show stopper is the ambiance, though. it has a 70s retro mood and art deco vibe that makes for a nice escape. would 100% recommend! read more

Went to Alfie's for the first time this weekend for a friend's birthday and I'm loving this new neighborhood vinyl bar in Mills 50. This location used to be St. Matthew's Tavern and let's just say Alfie's is much more my vibe. It has a retro disco feel inside with rotating DJs playing groovy beats, a carpeted dance floor, cozy booth seating, and a full center bar. I love that listening lounges have become more of a trend because I'm here for it. I ordered off their signature cocktail menu and tried their smoked dirty gin martini made with smoked olive brine and stuffed olives. The martinis are $11 and are 10/10. Overall they did a fabulous job with the remodel of this space and I look forward to more chill evenings spent here. read more

I had an interaction with the security guard named Andres who was shockingly unprofessional. He got upset with me after he offered to "get me in" after I was already at the front of the line about to enter. I felt weary of being approached since I was by myself tonight, and he made it seem like single women are not safe at this establishment. When I told him I did not want to enter as a part of his "group" he seemed extremely intoxicated and upset then told me I cannot enter because he was trying to be nice to me and I disrespected him. I am a Yelp elite member of 4 years and I have never experienced someone in Orlando, on the clock, and still trying to fulfill their own personal agenda--while exercising a power trip over a single female who is by herself. He told me to mention his name Andres and he stated that Alfie's (and his friends who were working the front door and security stations) stand by his behavior and if I didn't agree to hang out with him I couldn't enter the building. I love mills 50 district and always recommend this neighborhood to my community. Apparently they don't care that their employees are exploiting innocent customers just trying to support the business. I'm so disappointed considering I thought I was safe in the Mills 50 district and that is no longer the case with Alfies Hifi. I hate that I have to share this with my followers and community because this seemed like a trustworthy location and now I regret trusting them. So scary and I'm so creeped out. I can no longer recommend Alfies as a safe place for women visiting Orlando because they have predators like Andres exercising power trips over anyone who wants to simply be left alone. They're willing to deny entry to customers in favor of a mysoginistic security force who are all willing to fulfill a predator's agenda. I feel so taken advantage of and like my repeated business here meant nothing because of the "fraternity" mentality and behavior of the entire security team. There were 4 different men working that night who agreed with him and weren't willing to stand up for the customer, and encouraged him to prey on me because I was a vulnerable woman by myself. read more

I was really excited to hear about Alfies Hifi and checked it out for the first time on Valentines Day. Due to the occasion, it was PACKED. I waited 25 minutes at the bar for a drink, which was absolutely horrible. I ordered the milk punch and would not recommend it to anyone. I decided to give Alfies another chance and came with a group of friends on a Saturday night. Same thing, very busy. However, the wait for drinks wasn't too long. The music doesn't seem to be consistent here and once it gets past 10:30 there's a line wrapped around the building. While this isn't my favorite place on Mills, it's worth checking out. read more

Last night, we went to the soft opening of Alfie's and had the BEST time. The door guys were VERY polite and gave us the run down (shoutout Carlos) before we stepped inside. THESE are the spots that Orlando needs. This place completely transports you to the late 60s with all the decor. There's plenty of places to lounge and chat- it looks like your hip grandma's living room. The DJ booth was so clever and incredible to see, not to mention great music. The drinks were great and accurate to the time period. We didn't spend much time at the front bar because it was crowded but my favorite drink was the strawberry daiquiri from the outdoor bar in the back. If you also want to order food from the food truck, you can do so within in the back area on the kiosk. Side note, Maxstro's food truck was there that night, and it was SO delicious. Some of the best food truck burgers I've ever had. Max introduced himself and made sure we had water and napkins- anything we needed. SO kind. Needless to say, this place has is all. The drinks, the groove, the atmosphere, the fun, and the unique DIFFERENCE. The creative team hit the nail on the head with this bar. We will for sure be back! read more

The vibes here are absolutely immaculate. This was a stop on my birthday celebration tour and it surely did not disappoint! They were checking IDs she. We arrived but once we were inside there was a mix of great music and a bar stacked with staff ready to take drink orders. We were served quickly and once we had our drinks we went to the dance floor on the other side of the bar. I had the milk punch and pink lady drinks which were both pretty good, although in a sucker for the gin drinks! I stopped at Alfies for Valentine's day and think this will be one of my go to spots! It's an all vinyl bar with a retro feel and lots of space! There were a lot of people but it didn't feel crowded. I loved that the seating was open and you didn't have to wait long for a seat if you wanted one. The staff were super nice and helpful and made me feel very welcomed. I appreciated that the vibe didn't feel demographic specific in that people from all backgrounds and a wide age range can go and enjoy themselves. The only cons were the drink quality and parking. For an establishment like this, I would expect the drinks to have more of a craft feel. They weren't bad at all, but not remarkable. As for parking, it's on Mills so, as with any establishment in the area, you have to pack your patience when trying to find a spot. All in all, I absolutely recommend checking this spot out. When we walked in, we ordered some PBR's. Once we got her drinks, we started to explore the space. The decor inside is beautiful and they have multiple different rooms. That are very interesting. The music was loud but not so loud that you had to scream. Yes you have to raise your voice to be heard but not near as bad as some nightclubs or bars. Plenty of staff and a smallish but adequate drink menu. I opted for the espresso martini. They have a good amount of the old classics from Midori Sour to Highballs. The crowd was good, they were having a good time but nothing to obnoxious or crazy. They rotate DJ's for different nights and I have to say I did not really recognize any of the music being played. Not that is sounded bad but retro can also be classic and recognizable too. Prices were not horrible but elevated a bit to match the mood, décor and service. Advertised as a "listening lounge", there was a main bar, up front, a large listening room in the middle, with chairs, seating, and a DJ booth.
