I went to Grape and The Grain Wine Bar for Trivia Night with a Meetup group, and it was such a vibe! There were about 16 of us in the group, and when I first arrived, it was pretty packed -- I almost didn't get a seat. Thankfully, everyone was super nice and accommodating, making space so I could sit comfortably and enjoy the night. The atmosphere was relaxed, inviting, and full of good energy. They have comfortable seating and fans on the walls, which helped keep things cool and cozy. It's definitely a great spot to get together after work and wind down with friends, coworkers, or even new people. Trivia Night was a blast! The host kept everyone entertained, engaged, and laughing throughout the evening. It felt very well-organized and had a nice community feel -- I'd absolutely go again for that experience alone. A few things did surprise me, though. Since it's a wine bar, I expected mostly alcoholic drinks, but their Instagram made it seem like they also offered non-alcoholic options. When I asked for a soda, I was told they only serve alcohol -- no soft drinks, no mocktails. So if you're not drinking, plan to bring your own or grab something before you go. Later in the night, I got hungry. Their Instagram also gave me the impression that they served food, but they actually don't -- the food comes from a food truck around the back. When I went to order, the lady running the truck told me, "I'd rather sell out...," which threw me off. I wasn't sure what she meant, but it came across as rude or maybe even personal, which was disappointing since I was ready to buy something. That said, I don't hold that against Grape and The Grain itself. The staff inside were kind and welcoming, the crowd was friendly, and the overall vibe was great. Grape and The Grain was a fun spot for weekday trivia! A group of us came on a Wednesday night. The place looks and feels like a small house so it's cozy inside. For larger groups, they have a nice patio outside. A portion of it is covered which was perfect because the night we came it was raining. They have great wine and beer options available. I choose a Malbec and it ended up being incredible! I opted for the larger pour and I am glad I did. They had a food truck the night we went so we could get some pizza during trivia. I went to go see a live performer here and had a great time. Located in a prime spot in Mills 50, the signage for the Grape and the Grain is hard to spot. I would get something more visible if I were them. Once I actually found it, the rest of my experience was very enjoyable. It was pretty chilly out, but luckily they had space heaters and lots of comfortable seating on the patio. The inside is a bit tight on space and there is only one single person bathroom as the other one is under renovation. The beer and wine selection was decent and the staff was pleasant. They also had a food truck which I thought was a great idea. My friends ordered the shrimp scampi pizza which they seemed to enjoy. All in all a great Saturday night. read more

I ordered a small swirled frozen blend and I could definitely taste the wine and it was not overly sweet. They have a good selection of wines that I need to come back and try. It may look small from the outside, but don't let the exterior fool ya... there is a cozy bar with plenty of indoor seating and a HUGE outdoor patio in the back. The menu features a good selection of wines and a limited beer menu (nothing on tap, all bottle & can) but no food. We got there around 7, and was told that there would be a food truck but even leaving at around 9:30 we never saw the food truck. There is both indoor and outdoor seating areas. The parking isn't as defined for this space, so I would make sure you arrive a little early to ensure you have time to find parking. It did rain when we first arrived, so we decided to stay inside since their entire outdoor area was soaked. They have a super cute outdoor space to sit, but none of it was covered, nor did they come out to wipe it down so we were very limited to the few tables inside. Service really slacked. Bartenders/service staff didn't acknowledge us when we walked in, which was a little off putting being that we were some of maybe five people total in there. Walking up to the bar they did not offer suggestions or specials, they just weren't that friendly. They would often walk by our tables and look genuinely unhappy to be there. It's unfortunate because the venue itself is adorable, and the Ivanhoe/Mills area has so much to offer! The service and interactions with the workers really made this experience less enjoyable. As soon as we walked in there is a bar where you are attended by a server right away, I love that you can chose your bottle and take it it anywhere in the venue and sit and enjoy the glass. you can also get small cheese platters from the food truck in the back. I have been here about 4 times and I have to say overall it's pretty good. There have been a few times it was very crowded or the staff did not seem as friendly as a previous visit. Overall though it's not a bad spot. I have found that you have to just "get lucky" with your bartender for the evening as some are experienced to guide your choices and some seem to only just be able to read the menu. The inside and outside seating is welcome and lets you be as comfortable as possible. I have to say I did not stay as long as I would have expected and I think that's mostly because they unfortunately do not offer any snacks or things to buy to snack on. I was told in the past they have had an occasional food truck in the back and I think that would have made a difference for me. Not bad for a quick drink or maybe a short meet up after work. You should be familiar with your preferences because it seems you can't always count on an experienced server but that's ok. I think we all know what we want best ourselves. read more

They had misters going since it was a little warmer, but we opted to sit away from them since they seemed a little stronger in the spray and we were not that hot. It is only beer and wine. I think it would be nice if they offer some snack items (like nuts, trail mix) to order as a snack option, but understand may not be feasible with storage (just my thought). You can open a tab or pay as you go. We were planning on stopping a few places so we just ordered one and closed out our tab. The frozen sangria was really good and refreshing. My second time coming to Grape & The Grain, this time was for Valentines weekend with my husband and some friends. They were hosting Orlando House Party's 90's R&B and we got tickets as early birds for only $5 each on eventbrite. My husband and myself have attended other Orlando House Party events in the past so I knew it was going to be a great time. What I really love about Grape & The Grain is the outdoor deck for social gatherings which ended up turning into a huge dance floor. Additionally, there was a night market in the back with local vendors, I wished I hadn't wore heals as I wanted to check them out more and missed the warning to not wear heals. It's gravel back there, combined with wine glasses is not a good mix. So heed the warning and be comfy, don't be like me. I went back to the deck and hung out there with our friends and enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine. However, I got the munchies and sent my husband to grab me an empanada from The Gnarly Cuban who was in the market. I know this review is for Grape and the Grain but I feel like the Gnarly Cuban might be a regular for night market and the cubano empanada is ah-mazing! I've had a variety of empanadas in my life but never a cubano, and it was everything you could ever want or ask for! Get one! Or and get the guava/cheese pastelitos too they're also fabulous, I just rave over the empanada bc I never had that kind before, it was a stick out item. First time here tonight, beautiful venue, and came specifically for a music event. The outdoor patio is amazing. However, the reason I am giving three stars is because the bartender service was awful. None of them knew anything about the beer or wines they were offering. Then they have the audacity to tag on a 20% tip at the end. As someone in the hospitality industry for the last 15 years, I find it very discouraging when businesses do this. Service becomes subpar and the bartenders care less about giving good service because they know they are automatically getting a 20% tip. If it were up to me, I would've probably only left 12 to 15%, simply because I am in the industry. But no way did they deserve 20% and I was very taken back by this. Bad business practice. read more
