We chose WDS for our day. We loved the app as well as the excellent conference with Jordan. However, our DJ was not as "present" as we had hoped: minimal checking in with us and did not assist us in staying with our hoped timetable. We searched for a long time for a DJ that would truly disc jockey: fade and shuffle from song to song and use the crowd's vibe to make song selection decisions. That did not happen at all. All of each song was played and we only heard about 1/4 of our hoped and planned selections. I would not advise for a large wedding. read more

I used Whirlin Disc for my Wedding DJ. Chris, who overlooks the DJs, was so professional and helpful from start to finish. Our DJ, Kyle, was amazing and kept the dance floor full the whole night ! Whirlin' disc provided the music for our daughter's wedding on 9/8/18 at Woodlawn Beach State Park. Our DJ Mark was great. Mark had no trouble transitioning from being set up outside under the portico - where the temp was on the cool side to - coming in to emcee the toasts and prayer. Cocktail hr was typical but great dinner music like Sinatra. After the first dances, he watched what was getting the guests on their feet and would find similar music to keep them going. We totally recommend Whirlin' Disc for the entertainment for your event. read more

The reason there is a star at all is because people did enjoy themselves despite the behind the scenes problems. Although his services were adequate, the mistakes that were made were unacceptable and the only major downside to our wedding. Dealing with whirlin disc in general is kind of inconvenient. While they were generally responsive when it comes to questions, the owner is very anti technology and will tell you many times to call him instead of emailing. Which sometimes, isn't possible. That being said the owner himself seemed very prepared and polite enough to meet our needs. However every time we spoke he did ask if they were doing the ceremony music and the date of the wedding. It just seemed like he didn't take the time to know who we were. Which brings me to our DJ, Joe. This company came recommended from our venue and upon reading many reviews, there was no reason to question his services. We had a Friday wedding and how it works is that the DJ will call you the Wednesday of the wedding to review their instructions. You supply the owner with instructions for what songs go with what as well as do not plays and other instructions. We met with the owner about 2 weeks from our wedding, and these instructions were supposedly forwarded to the DJ himself. We also provided the owner with a cd of my fiance's late grandfather singing to be used as the song that she dances with her twin So we speak with Joe over the phone on Wednesday night (again inconvenient as many people have many things to do 2 days away from a wedding and may not be able to sit by the phone, expecting a call, but what are going to do) Everything goes great over the phone- I emailed him updated instructions, he said he received them. I even got all our songs together on a thumb drive/ making his job even easier, to give him day of. We asked him to please listen to the cd of my fiance's grandfather to make sure the track we selected is the correct one. The day of our wedding comes, I have a few questions for Joe and ask him if he has any. Quick response, nope got it all covered. It started off well enough. He takes the thumb drive, sets everything up. We notice he has not brought in dance lights- which were included in our package. He has our paperwork there and sure enough, its not listed on it. However I have emails back and forth with the owner stating that's lights were included- "Hi Groom After the five hours,it would be $75.00 for each additional 1/2 hour....Dance Floor Lights Included at no additional charge. Once again, Thank you for your kind consideration. - - Tom Scherer/ Whirlin'Disc Sound 716.741.3139" Joe gave a little pushback about it, but thankfully he had the lights in the truck and he went and got them. before the dances are supposed to begin, Joe calls my wife over and has her listen to Dean Martin singing valore and tells her, "so I will announce this and your grandfather can come up here and sing" my wife replies "my grandfather passed away, that's why we gave you this cd of him singing" Joe says that the cd won't play in his laptop . we tested at home in our own and it worked fine, which means that he did not test it before hand like we asked him too, and that he did not read the instructions or communicate with the owner because otherwise he would have known that a deceased relative cannot be expected to come up and sing. Eventually that is resolved. Music itself started about a half hour later than we would have preferred, but once it got going people were shaking their booties. A few of our requested songs were played, and that's fine, a dj has to do his own thing too. The playlist gravitated highly to backstreet boys, but at least we all seemed to enjoy that. As the night is coming to the end, Joe announces the last song. I had created a last song for my wife and I to dance through by combining 2 songs that are special to us. This song was specifically labeled in the instructions to be played. It was labeled "lastsong" on the thumb drive I gave him. This was not the last song that was played. The last song that was played was at least one of the slow songs I requested, but it was still heartbreaking to me to have the night end that way. After that there was a problem with the remaining balance to be paid day of, which was completely my fault and I fixed right away. While Joe was always polite in his speech, it just seemed like he had an attitude about it and everything throughout the night. The way they acted toward us and the several mistakes that were made marked the only downside to our wedding- Because of them our last dance was not as special as it should have been and we can never have that back. We were prepared to give a far better tip as well, but he simply did not do his job.When people ask about our wedding, we say that it was absolutely wonderful, except for our dj. We will not recommend them. read more
