You can pick up your knives day of on Saturday, with a couple hours of lag time, It's a bit pricey, but the knives came back in great condition and very sharp. Whisk a business I need in my neighborhood. My nearby housewares stores have closed. I shop here for gifts. I may not live nearby but I'm supporting NYC small business! Coming from someone that is allergic to egg whites I don't really own a Whisk for that purpose. I'm familiar with the product from my Mother and Daughter. They're the cooks. I found this store interesting since it's named after a single kitchen utensil. You can order from the company online. I purchase items for my daughter as gifts. After all she bakes for me. I see this as a local business. During the pandemic I find it best to support them by shopping on line. Our Home goods stores in my neighborhood have closed. I'm happy for those of you that live near Whisk. I learned a lot about this cooking utensil from this business. They have a wide selection of other quality products not just whisks. For your information: A Whisk is a cooking utensil used to blend ingredients smooth and to incorporate air into a mixture. The process is known as whisking or whipping. While convenient for quick CO2 cartridges for soda stream, I have not been getting the purported 60 L that is advertised. I got about 5 plastic sodastream bottles worth of carbonation. So that was roughly 4 bucks per bottle. I had this issue twice in a row, so I will be going elsewhere to reup. read more

Earlier this week I went to your store to purchase a biscuit cutter I went to the back room as I was directed by the very helpful guy at the counter . Upon entering the room a white woman with brown hair pulled back in a ponytail showing a person knives gave me a strange look. I asked the guy at the counter for assistance he came over and helped me get the cutter, as I got a couple of other items and went to the register. I completed my transaction and while I waited for my receipt I looked at the soda maker behind me when I heard the employee with the ponytail ask the guy about the bag he had given me , she asked him if I had the bag before ,he responded that one of ours. I looked back at her and she gave me a fake smile. I must say it bothered me but I chalked it up as another white racist . So yesterday I went to your store looking for a potato cutter, I was standing the near your pasta makers , a young lady with a pink sweatshirt a , brown hair, gold teeth, walked by in says hello and walks into the second room as I look up within seconds she walked back and steered at me. So I ask for her assistance finding the potato cutter she told me you don't carry that item. She walked away towards the front of the store, she came back and just stood there watching me like store security. I looked at her angrily and continued shopping she continued standing there steering at me as I looked at the pasta machines and I looked at her angrily again and finally she walked away. I know it this current climate soon you will be able to have a sign no blacks allowed , so there is no need to jump the gun. Whisk is open! If you live in this neighborhood and cook as much as I do, no doubt you're mourning the loss of A Cook's Companion as well. Thankfully, Whisk has stepped up to fill the void. Having just walked in and checked out the shop (and having been to other Whisk locations), I'm absolutely optimistic that it's going to be a great addition to the neighborhood. I fully expect to be updating this review as I spend more time and money here, but for now I can report that it's the same bright, airy, conveniently located space the previous store was. The staff seems friendly enough, and time will tell if they are as knowledgable and helpful as Cook's. Since they are only 3-4 days in, the shelves are being stocked as we speak...but don't be scared. They've got the measuring cups, cake pans, salad spinners, wooden spoons, spatulas, non-stick pans, whisks (!), glassware, and many other items you might be needing. They definitely had the silicone brush I needed for slathering sauce onto ribs this weekend (it's too hot not to grill things). That said, a lot of stuff is still yet to be delivered, so give them a break as they get ramped up to speed. They didn't have any proofing baskets or lames out yet, but I can't blame them for the fact that they are just opening as my bread-baking habit gets out of control. I'll just have to wait and do my best not to spend my money with Amazon; buy local people, so our neighborhoods don't die as the world is taken over by our tech overlords. I don't think anyone can TRULY replace Jennifer from A Cook's Companion, but Whisk looks like they are going to keep me supplied with cookware now that she's gone. I went here last Christmas to buy gifts for the season. Bought a $40 Boska cheese grater which turned out to be a most foolhardy gadget. I mean the thing couldn't even begin to have outdone the likes of a standard box grater. Save yourself both time and money. I was most surprised when at the cashier I was asked to purchase an expensive bag after purchasing $50 +. She then backed down and gave me a brown paper bag. This type of store customer relationship does not auger well and will most prob do them in ultimately. Whisk is a great addition on Atlantic Ave, offering a wide variety of tools and gadgets for the home cook. I came in looking for a spatula and left with new piping tips, Nordicware baking pans, and a tea strainer (all for less than $50). The basketweave tip was my most coveted purchase because I had searched two Michael's previously and came up empty-handed. They also offer SodaStream refills though at the time of my visit, they were out of stock. All in all, I would recommend Whisk for the home cook who likes to support local businesses. read more

I stumbled upon this place after going to Sahadi's and I'm glad I did! This store is a baker's dream. They have a huge array of quality cookware and bakeware, but what's more is it's usually cheaper than what you'd find on Wayfair or Amazon. Aprons, baking/cooking pans, glass jars, you name it. I NEVER leave reviews but here we go. I'm new to the Brooklyn area & wanted to support a small local business. I could have went to target, wal mart or any big retail store. But my partner and i wanted to support a small mom and pop shop. That was my mistake. We just moved into the area, and we couldn't locate our rice cooker and we needed one for the holidays. Google took us here, i should have read all reviews prior. They wayyy up-charge a basic rice cooker for $250. That's fine we like to pay for the quality anyways. Once we got home, we realize the rice cooker was defective and took a long time to turn on. We ended NOT using it at all. The next day we called the store to make sure we can return the item since we never used it. The girl on the phone said yes. My partner took the rice cooker in. Least to say it wasn't a pleasant experience. The staff that was working was very condescending towards us and nobody seemed like they had a definite answer. After my partner even kindly explained this wasnt an used item. That's fine if we cannot get a full refund. But a good business would have simply offered store credit so we can spend it back in the store. It was a really interesting experience and left a bad taste in my mouth. I work in retail and managed for over 5+ years. This isn't how you run a business. If you're going to sell expensive overpriced items at least train your staff to be kind. I brought in knives here to be sharpened and they did an excellent job. And last weekend, I went in to buy some kitchen twine so that I could make a spice sachet for a dish I'd be cooking that evening, and they only had a very huge expensive one in stock. The employee working that afternoon gave me a small piece for free so that I didn't have to leave empty-handed. Talk about customer service! It's great to have Whisk in the neighborhood. read more

Now I am a fan! They have revamped the space and filled it with many beautiful and well researched kitchen items. Fully stocked with the practical things you need, aspirational items and things you didn't know existed. Plus they have stocked up on soda stream seltzer canisters which are currently scarce. Service is friendly and helpful. The door is monitored to prevent overcrowding. Plus, they are extra sweet to small children and pets. They used to be Cook's Companion (at the time of this writing, they still haven't updated the signage). We were told the old owners retired and sold it to the Whisk folks. They're still getting all their inventory stocked (knives are on the way, and they'll do sharpening soon), but what they do have is pretty good. Lots of coffee and tea related stuff (basically anything you could need short of an actual espresso machine). Lots of super specific kitchen tools (Alton Brown's dreaded uni-taskers). Also some dishware, although they don't have the biggest selection of those yet. A lot of homebrew beer kits as well. read more

I stumbled upon this store after visiting Sahadi's next door for spices. I loved Whisk! I was looking for rubber gaskets swing bottles we've had since the 90s. Mom wanted to throw them away since the rubber wore out, but I insisted that we can replace them. I didn't know if Whisk had them since I dropped by on a whim and didn't even look at their website, but lo and behold, they had them! After wandering around the store, I also bought a jigger (which is that pyramid looking thing that bar tenders use to measure out alcohol). Whisk has really nice kitchenware and cookware, everything is well made and chosen carefully. They don't carry items that will break the next time you use it. There aren't a lot of stores like this anymore, everyone always just turns to Amazon, but I think I'm gonna come back to Whisk! I live in Seattle and found this store unexpectedly in an online search. What a pleasant surprise! I found many unique holiday gifts that I know will be appreciated and used. However, what was most surprising was the service I received. The least expensive item in my cart was a $4 gadget that I intended to put in a stocking. Two days after I had placed my online order, the individual who was packing the order sent me an email with photographs showing scratches on the $4 gadget. He provided me several options (including refund and free). At first I thought it had to be a bot because I am no longer accustomed to this standard of service. What a pleasant experience. I will be shopping here again and buying gift cards for friends in the area. read more

I came here to purchase a food processor as a gift for a family member and found a few models for sale. The Cuisinart 7 Cup Pro Classic caught my eye. Unfortunately, only the floor model was available, but it seemed to be in reasonably good condition so I was willing to take a chance on it. However, when the salesperson retrieved the original packaging it was in such a crushed and torn condition that I was honestly shocked. When I asked if a discount could be considered given that the item was a floor model and the packaging was damaged (actually "ruined" would be more appropriate) I was given a curt, "No." Further attempts to negotiate or speak with a manager were also dismissed. Very disappointing as I like to support small local businesses, but add me to the growing list of local consumers who won't be buying anything from here. read more

Not sure that the older reviews of Whisk in Brooklyn Heights are still accurate. I just dropped in and found it to be quite lovely. The assortment is now fully deployed and it really covers the gamut well. From pots and baking pans, to cookie cutters, proper knives, cocktail gear and bitters, one could do quite well here. Prices are a tad high, but they do have to pay Atlantic Avenue rent, so I say good on 'em! I will definitely be back! read more

More than anything else I love to shop for kitchenware. Whisk has always been like a candy shop for me and over the years I've found they have high quality products for fair prices. Recently I purchased a plastic cutting board that weirdly started chipping and peeling after only a few months of use. I contacted the shop to ask about the exchange policy and Natasha helped me pick out a beautiful wooden cutting board to replace and even delivered it to my house. Recently, I switched to using Whisk for my online kitchen purchases - Amazon may be bigger but their products are not consistently good and with all the third party sellers, you really don't know what you are getting. At Whisk, you can depend upon getting a high quality product that is as advertised! And their shipping is very quick - I put in an order on my lunch break yesterday and the box arrived today! They have nice stuff and I would give it more stars if not for the poor customer service experience I had here recently. I picked up an item off the shelf with a price tag that said $2 (this tag included a bar code and the item name so there was no way I could have switched the tags or even been suspected of switching the tags). When I brought this up to the counter, the cashier looked at the price and said he needed to "google" how much it was, even though it clearly said $2. After doing his google, he said the product actually cost $2.25. Obviously the 25 cents is no big deal, but the fact that he looked up the price in front of me was rude as it indicated that he thought I was being dishonest in some way, when the item was very clearly labeled with a lower price. After informing me of the higher price he added "well it's only 25 cents," before charging me the higher price. He in no way apologized for the apparent mistake. I will not be shopping here again. read more
