I am extremely disappointed with the delivery service my mother received from PC Richard & Son. This past weekend, my mother visited the store to purchase an air conditioner and a smart TV. She scheduled delivery for Wednesday, July 15, between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., and provided the store with her complete address, including her apartment number. At approximately 9:00 a.m. on the day of delivery, the delivery team called to let her know they were on the way. A short time later, they called again to apologize, explaining that they had forgotten to load her TV and would be about 20 minutes late. My mother understood and told them that was fine. While she continued waiting, she suddenly received a text message stating that her delivery had been completed. This was confusing because no one had contacted her, knocked on her door, or delivered anything directly to her apartment. I called the delivery service on my mother's behalf while she went downstairs to check. She lives in a senior citizen building with a front desk attendant, so there should have been no difficulty locating her apartment or notifying her of the delivery. To our surprise, we found the air conditioner and TV left unattended in the building's lobby alongside the mail and other packages. The delivery team never attempted to bring the items upstairs, despite assuring my mother at the time of purchase that they would deliver everything directly to her apartment. What made the situation even worse was that the delivery crew had opened the TV box to test the television, then placed it back inside without properly closing or resealing the box. They simply left it open and walked away. This level of service is completely unacceptable. Not only did they fail to complete the in-home delivery that was promised, but they also left expensive electronics unattended in a public area where they could have easily been stolen or damaged. Considering that my mother is a senior citizen, this was especially frustrating and inconsiderate. I expected much better from PC Richard & Son. I hope the company addresses these delivery practices so that other customers--especially seniors--do not have to experience the same level of poor service. read more

Where do I start? I looked over the website and saw a fleet of trucks with their emblems, looked legit. First off, what a hassle, they don't deliver on Monday. Okay I can get beyond that, so it took over a month to get them here. It wasn't one of their trucks like the salesman assured would show up. The first person I approached only spoke Spanish, not even a word of English. The COI (certificate of insurance) wasn't complete so I had to send them away, then they said they actually can deliver on Monday. So we delayed a few more weeks and then the salesman called to go over measurements with me and said they have to send a survey team first, and this after 2 1/2 months waiting so I canceled the order. I had the measurements available to him in early May, and it is July 22 as I type. There is big disconnect because stores like this and Home Depot that contract out delivery, installation and removal. The people who come to do that, as evidenced by other reviews, are often incompetent. We had a similar experience with Home Depot. read more

Our dishwasher died. And in dying, I think it was trying to kill us too (the seal started disintegrating and leaving weird probably toxic goo on our dishes). PC Richards was there for us. They had a good selection of dishwashers in the brand (Bosch) and price range (mid) we were looking, and their prices turned out to be better than the other competitors I looked at. More importantly, their delivery could happen sooner, and cheaper. There ended up being a hiccup in delivery that was mostly my fault, and when I called and e-mailed in to figure it out, P.C. Richards' responses were surprisingly quick and on point. They were even nice enough not to blame me for all the problems. I have come to expect so little of customer service reps that this was a breath of fresh air. Once we got the delivery day and time actually figured out, the technician was on time, efficient, and nice enough. There was an extra outlet that needed to be created to install so there was an extra charge I wasn't expecting, but I imagine that's just how this goes sometimes. All in all, a lot less painless than it could have been, and I truly appreciate not having to wash all my dishes by hand. read more

Purchased a Windmill AC, with the PC Richards "Extended Service Protection". The delivery guys left the AC on its side (despite the clear indications on the box that it needs to remain upright) and as a result the AC was likely compromised. Instead of coming to repair it, they said they would exchange it, but we are responsible for the initial cost of installation, the cost of removing the damaged appliance, and the cost of reinstallation. Money down the drain, not to mention the huge headache in dealing with them. "Extended Service Protection" is a scam. read more

I ordered a laundry machine that was delivered yesterday. Despite the great experiences I have had speaking with in-store agents at the Steinway location, my delivery experience yesterday has left me done doing business with them for good. Two guys delivered the machine. Upon arrival, there was a dent towards the bottom of the machine [see pic]. I was under the impression that I would have the machine installed for free at the same time as delivery. One of the guys assured me that the installation was an additional $120 and said that I could either call and schedule an installation for a later time or pay him $120, "off the record" via cash, venmo, or zelle, to have it installed then. I was pretty sure I chose this particular machine because it came with free installation. When I picked up my phone and said I was going to call to verify, the guy said, "nevermind, we don't have hoses on us so you'll have to call to schedule an installation at a later time anyway." I was able to verify with a representative over the phone that I did indeed have free installation for this item. This guys' sketchy attempt at a side-hustle threw me off. After the guys left, I noticed they did not place the laundry machine all the way in the room, so it was blocking my bathroom door. "The Product Weight is 302 Lbs." - over twice my own body weight. When I tried to move it, it wouldn't budge. I have one bathroom in this apartment and as it was my Saturday, I had plans later that evening. Point blank, I needed my bathroom. When I called to complain they said there was nothing they could do about moving the machine until the scheduled delivery date, which was scheduled for 6 days later. They also had the audacity to say that the picture that the delivery man took looked like the machine was already placed all the way inside the room and when they spoke to him, he said my bathroom shouldn't have been blocked. Undermining a claim I could so easily prove was nothing short of the unprofessionalism inculcating this entire experience [see video]. While on the phone, I was told that the guys had already left and were en route back to the factory. Nothing could be done. I had to cancel my evening plans and spend the next 6 hours trying to find help. Thank God for Taskrabbit! I was finally able to get someone on Taskrabbit to come help me move the machine 13" back [see attached picture]. The customer service rep. did provide a $60 reimbursement from the company for the inconvenience of it all, but in my opinion that is nothing compared to the time it took for me to correct the negligence of the low grade worker this company is choosing to be represented by. Prior to the deliverer's arrival I was trying to place another order with PC Richard & Son for a T.V., another costly service. Thank God that did not go through! I took my services to BestBuy instead. Because of this experience, PC Richard & Son has lost a loyal customer. I will never purchase anything from them again and advise anyone who is scheduling a delivery service to think twice beforehand, and consider the possibility that whoever you get, might try to scam you. read more

I have had a very SHOCKING experience with P.C. Richard that I want to warn everyone about. I purchased a refrigerator from them and purchased "Haul Away" so that they would remove my old refrigerator. The delivery guys came on 9/20 Friday and apparently didn't want to hassle taking out the old refrigerator (they said they had no tools, they said it would 3 guys etc.) and said someone would come later in the day to take it. I called customer service and they said "No, we can't take it till Tuesday". So that's 2 refrigerators in a tiny kitchen for 3 days with no access to my kitchen sink. When I said I the delivery guys said someone would come the same day they said "we have no control over the delivery company". I went to the store at 79th and Broadway and same story, "we have no control over the delivery company". So since selling appliances means delivering them, I'm shocked that P.C. Richard has no control over the delivery process. Interestingly, when i went up to the store I met a couple outside the store who said that they had a refrigerator delivered that same day by P.C. Richard and the delivery people tried to shake them down for $100 in cash saying something vague about "wires". They called their super and then the delivery guys reluctantly agreed to take their old refrigerator. So since I couldn't live without a kitchen for 3 days, I took the doors off the refrigerator myself (didn't think I could do it but WD-40 came to the rescue!), paid my super's assistant $40 to help ME take the frig downstairs (clearly 3 men not necessary!) and put it on the street. So its still there and HOPEFULLY it will be removed by P.C. Richard's delivery company tomorrow. If they don't remove it I will deny the charge on my credit card until they do. P.C. Richard has been in business since 1909 under 5 generations of the same family. But with this kind of "customer service" they won't make it to the sixth generation. read more

I have made many purchases from PC Richards (Atlantic Avenue) and never had any problems or issues. Last week I ordered a stove from them. Installers were great and everything was working. But when we turned the oven on later that evening it didn't go on (the stovetop worked fine). I called my sales person (Carlos) and he sent a repair person out - he said it needed an igniter. I again called Carlos and he said to tell him not to order the part - PC Richards would send another stove and cover the installation (he said it was unacceptable to get a brand new appliance that needed a part). Earlier this year I applied and was approved for a credit amount of $1200. Was hoping to get a stove and refrigerator recently only seeing that my credit was reduced to $250. What an insult! I felt treated like a piece of trash and a third class citizen. My third time applying and being approved to have credit limit reduced. Once letter comes in the mail this card will be closed. I was going to make a sexual comment about this store, such as Richard Gere and his gerbils, but it wouldn't be very PC. Let's ask Gere what he thinks. Would it be PC, Richard? Nope. This is located right by the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and it has a really good reputation for doing good work on PCs for good prices. I guess the main problem is that there are teen kids working in their basements and garages and in little one bedroom apartments all over Brooklyn - or out of their parents houses even - and they can give you much better deals probably, for better work. I bought an A/C with delivery only, but they promise delivery into your room of choice. The driver is supposed to call you, he did not and he left the A/C in my building's lobby. Absolutely unacceptable and fraudulent. Their prices are not exceptional either, just at the market level. This review is for John! The last time I spoke to John was in 2019 when I was a first time buyer for a dishwasher. He answered a thousand questions which helped me narrow down my choice to a KitchenAid purchase. 3 years later, unfortunately the dishwasher broke down and I needed a replacement. I called PC Richards and was able to connect with John again who very efficiently assisted me over the phone with a brand new replacement. Thankfully he had recommended purchasing a 5-yr warranty in 2019 which meant I had a full credit of the original purchase price to utilize. The new dishwasher I had chosen was slightly more expensive but due to John's customer service, I only had to pay for the new warranty. I am compelled to write this review because of the thoughtless, condescending, lip service 'support' service I received when my year old refrigerator began leaking. It took over a month to schedule three separate service calls and countless hours on the phone with everyone at every level of the company. I was passed around from store management, service departments, claims and the corporate office before I finally learned that the broken parts are out of stock and that my fridge will be replaced on top of the now warped and damaged wood floors from the sustained leaking that PC Richard took no responsibility for, despite the ridiculous length of time of took to schedule service. I'm having a terrible time with the Beko fridge I bought, and the PC Richard service department has been terrible to deal with. I would avoid these Beko brand appliances, I regret buying it. It's almost a cliche -- but the ice maker lasted exactly 13 months and then broke. It's now a frozen solid block of ice. P.C. Richard came out, looked at the fridge, and then said they'd order a new one. Then nothing happened. I called back and they never ordered anything. So here we are... it's now 14 months old and still broken. UPDATE: The repairman came today. He didn't have the right tools and asked to borrow my kitchen knife. I said no, but he borrowed a steel of mine. Then he took it and hammered on the ice maker until it shattered. Then said he had to leave because he broke it and didn't have a new one. After placing an order and being told I could pick it up at their warehouse today, I drove 90 minutes to do so and it was out of stock. The warehouse staffer informed me that because (unbeknownst to me) there were only 4 listed in the system, our salesman should have called to do a physical inventory check. In fact, this is their procedure for anything less than dozens because the system is often wrong. Our salesman George A. didn't bother to do so and wasted 3 hours of my time. I had an earlier bad experience where they ordered the wrong bed--firm instead of medium--which also isn't rocket science. Updated: After going through several avenues trying to get customer service to send someone to fix our stacked washing machine, we ended up calling a family friend to help us unstack the machine (that was installed by PC Richards) so that their technicians could fix the machine. Thank god for the head of customer service, Michael G, who was kind enough to personally ensure that we were able to get a technician here to fix the machine. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Extended warrantee is a joke. I'm sorry to say I had a very poor experience with the delivery and installation of a refrigerator. The drivers showed up before the delivery window and did not install my new refrigerator because the old one was still being removed. After speaking to multiple service coordinators and the manager of the store, no effort was made to rectify the situation. This is currently Saturday, and I was told the earliest they could get the delivery back to me was Wednesday. In the mean time, all the food in my refrigerator is now ruined. PC Richards really went above & beyond to make sure I'm a satisfied costumer. I purchased what I thought was going to be the air conditioner of my dreams (Friedrich Chill, 15,000 BTU's), it turned out to sound like a fighter jet. I called about returning it and was told it was not returnable. I asked to speak to a manager and someone called back shortly.  His research and honesty on noise levels of large AC units (15000 btu vs 12000 btu) will improve the quality  of my life, over the course of the next decade. Just being able to exchange the 15000 for the 12000 was more than I had hoped at the beginning of my conversation with the costumer service agent. Making a major online purchase without being able to see the product was difficult due to the Covid - 19 shutdown.  I got a quick delivery date for the exchange. This will allow me to purchase a new refrigerator sooner than planned. I'm  going to use the balance of the refund as a down payment. Then I can finance the balance of the refrigerator with PC Richards credit card with the 24 month no interest promotion. I've bought many appliances at this location (close tonmy house) over the last 15 years. My experience has usually been pretty good and they always match price. But the last year has been especially good because I've been working with the best appliance salesman I've ever dealt with. His name is Carlos Burgos. I bought a Bosch fridge from Carlos during Oct 2020. I needed it right away and no one had stock. Carlos randomly picked up when I called and I'm very glad he did. He got it delivered asap. Later I wanted to return it because I think it has a design flaw. Carlos made it easy to get a service tech to come look at it. Very soon, Bosch had agreed to refund my money. I bought a replacement LG fridge through Carlos. It came quick but I had forgotten to order the hinges be reversed. I asked Carlos and he took care of it for me quickly. These steps could've all been painful for me. But Carlos takes care of what needs to be done for his customers asap. Do yourself a favor and ask for "Carlos Burgos". read more

After having some of the worst few days while trying to order this desk. I finally was able to pick it at the Atlantic ave PC Richard and son. Originally I ordered it for pick up at that store but they come to tell me they didn't have it in stock. Thats when they set it up for delivery for me for today from 9-12. When it hit 1 I called to find out the desk was broken in transit and I'd have to wait an additional few days for another delivery although I called out of work and was expecting the delivery today. After calling around to see if I could pick it up I come to fine that the original store had one they just have just gotten! And thanks to the worker Alex help he assisted me in changing the delivery and holding the desk for me until I was able to pick it up! So thanks to Alex the stress is over and I'm able to enjoy myself with my new desk without having to worry anymore so big props to alex! read more

I called the store and spoke with the sales guy and he said they could exchange it tomorrow. I said, no, today is going to be crazy hot, I need it today. He said I'd have to pay for delivery! I said, forget it. I'll return the A/C. He told me they do not take returns, only exchanges. Buyer beware....this is why places like this go under. Best Buy. AND. STOCKED. IT. IS. While the Francis Lewis Boulevard location will always be our #1, I will always check this store before going to best by because I've known for decades just how great the customer service is and how much of a difference having associates with actual knowledge and experience makes. It's head and shoulders above its competitors when it comes to the help of its staff, and worth commuting here to make a purchase instead of going to a national chain. I have had 3 service visits, they gave suggestions each time, nothing has worked. I have asked to replace it with a different model, still nothing. Terrible - at least when it comes to major appliances. Bought a Bosch range from them and they sold us a model that had issues from the box that were known to the manufacturer. Have now had it for two months and it hasn't worked right. Call PC Richards and even thought we bought an 8 year warranty (!) they just pass off to Bosch maintenance/call center and they are also terrible. How can this be? Splurge on a range and get this kind of service. Ridiculous. No help. They also gouged on the delivery charge - $350. read more

Came in expecting a pretty lousy experience given the reviews (but was willing to give it a shot, considering the proximity), and walked out very pleased. Everyone from the security guard out front, to Ming the salesperson, and the guy who wheeled out our new TV was pleasant and helpful. Ming especially was courteous and not pushy at all, and answered all our questions honestly. I didn't ask for delivery (one of the benefits of proximity) so I can't speak to that, but I'm very happy with the TV, the purchase experience, and the price ($30 less than Amazon! I'm not actually sure how that happened). The only problem seemed to be the other customers -- there were at least two people in there screaming their heads off about some complaint or another. Perhaps they were justified (and maybe they're writing some of the other reviews) but the employees were dealing with them calmly and politely.
