Sit on the floor, sit on the benches, or the sofa, or just stand around. Anything you want! Just hangout and take it easy. plant yourself near a cat or if you're lucky have them come to you. i was just sitting then I had 4 cats surround me because they all wanted a piece of that string toy I was throwing around. love! $25 per person for one hour. Can be booked online. Sign a waiver when you arrive. Follow the rules and be respectful or other human guests and the cats! Good time relaxing the cats here are way more playful than all other cat lounges I've been to around the world. some day one kitties were in cages to acclimate. sweeties

I have been to a few cat cafe in Japan and also in Hawaii. I saw their page on Instagram and decided to make a reservation. I really liked the setup and how they had double doors. The lady was really friendly; even though I had a 4 year old with me. My daughter followed the instructions and everything went smoothly. The kittens were so friendly that it was really easy to interact compared to the Hawaii cat cafe with color coded bandanas. My daughter was expecting the same rules, but the cafe had a really chill vibe to it. The cafe was also really clean and really liked the setup. Lastly, I had no signal inside here and it would be lovely with free WiFi!

Came for the study session special. Great deal to study and pet cats for 2 hrs for 20$. If anyone scores an A on their exam they receive a free hour! Only downside is there are no tables so if you come for the study session be aware. John was very nice and welcoming! Will have to return again. All the cats here are so happy, active, and extremely social. One came up to sit on my lap ‍

What a cool, calm and comforting experience! I took my two boys (12 and 11) for 30 minutes and it was wonderful. They both love cats (11 year old is slightly obsessed) and we got to visit, pet and play with 7 different cats. The business owner was there the whole time, and he was kind and informative while giving us space to interact with the kitties. We can't have a cat at the moment so we didn't go with the consideration of adopting, but we will support this place any way we can! We're already planning to go back soon. You should too! Support this small and amazing business!

Great spot to de-stress with some adorable cats. They are all up for adoption so definitely talk to the owner if you are interested. He is the one that greets you and tells you how everything works. He was saying he partners with UCSF to provide this space for students during finals time so they can relax which I thought was really nice. It was hard to not want to take all of the cats home. They have a wall with pictures of all the cats and their names. They don't let you grab them, since they want the cats to come to you instead so they aren't scared. When I went there was a mix of social and anti-social cats. You can stay there for half hour or an hour or even a few hours if you're interested. Half hour is $15 and an hour is $25 per person which is pretty affordable.

My daughter and I visited Whiskerwood Haven on a Tuesday evening and what a find! The space itself is beautifully designed these cats are living their best lives with climbing trees, cozy nooks, and plenty of room to play or nap. My daughter was in heaven, and even I found myself completely charmed. What makes this place special is the genuine care behind it. The owner clearly isn't just running a café he's built something meaningful for the community and these animals. Hearing they've already facilitated 40+ adoptions in just five months speaks volumes. If you're looking for a way to spend an hour in the city, or if you're considering adding a furry family member, this is the place. We left smiling, and I have a feeling we'll be back soon.

First time to visit this cat sanctuary - I usually go to Kit Tea in the Mission, but this one is closer to where I live and easily accessible by the 38 Geary Muni bus. Rates are $15 for a half hour and $25 for an hour. From the front door, you're buzzed into a second room where you can leave your bags and shoes in lockers, and the owner John (or other staff) will give an overview of the place and rules. The rules are also on a card attached to the lanyard that has your locker key on it (see photo). You're required to remove your shoes and also put on disposable foot covers and sanitizing your hands when entering or exiting the main space. The space is like being in someone's living room - with benches, cushions, a sofa, and a few chairs spread around. I pretty much spent the time either walking around and saying hi to the cats (all of whom are adoptable!) or sitting on the floor and taking photos of the few that came closer to me. I didn't have the luck of having a cat go on my lap, but they were all receptive to pets. I arrived midday and there were already 2-3 groups that had visited ahead of me. I recommend arriving during the first wave of visitors or after feeding time where the cats are more receptive and not over stimulated if you want to get some playtime or snuggles in. I spent an hour here and the time went fast, but I left feeling relaxed and chill after spending time with the cats. I'll definitely be back to hang out again.

Loved every minute! So relaxing. I love to just sit and read a book; watch them sleep or play. The facility and cats are so clean. John, the owner, is very sweet and knowledgeable about all the kitties. I highly recommend a visit. Perfect way to decompress after a hectic day. Thanks John!

I visited the cat café around 3 PM, which happened to be the cats' afternoon nap time. Most of them were peacefully dozing when I arrived. Only one little kitten was awake and playful, so I spent some time playing with her. After about 10 minutes, the others slowly started to wander out and stretch. As soon as I had some treats in my hand, the cats immediately gathered around me. All of them were clean, adorable, gentle, and playful. I especially loved Sebastian -- his vibe reminded me so much of my own cat at home. If you're looking for a place to unwind for half an hour and enjoy some relaxing time with cute cats, I highly recommend visiting this café. You definitely won't be disappointed!

Such a cozy place! Love the Studio Ghibili inspired decor. The owner, John, basically runs this place by himself so far. He built everything, takes care of the cats, works with two main cat rescues, cleans up and feeds, takes care of visitors, and runs the website and social media. He's a one man army! But you can tell he really cares about the cats and the visitors - super social and friendly with everyone. It kinda feels like when you enter a local Asian restaurant and the owners are bookkeeping at the tables or prepping veggies - that's kinda the vibe and I like how there is a bit of a grassroots atmosphere. Things are still developing and improving, but the owner has many great ideas coming up. The cats are adorable! I came in on Sunday as a walk-in at 3:15pm and there was lots of parking outside. 10 visitors are allowed in at a time; at least for this day, our 1 hour started based on when we came in, rather as a cohort. There are a lot of toys and cozy chairs for cats and visitors to sit in. Really cute cat furniture too and fall decor! There were about 10 cats; most were having their afternoon nap. I LOVED Sebastian. He was the oldest of the bunch. So friendly and chill, a very independent gentleman. The kittens were adorable. John also installed a TV for movies and played Japanese cat cafe videos in the background lol. Will definitely be coming back as much as I can, and looking forward to movie nights!

i made a resy to come at 11:30am on a saturday which was a very chill time, there was maybe 3 other parties of 2 in the cafe as well. most of the cats are pretty shy and only really like to play with the toys, they don't approach you even if you are just sitting on the ground not moving. it was fun to play with them and the cafe was pretty nice and clean. i was sitting on the floor for the most part, and there are a couple chairs and one couch to sit on, but mostly ground to interact with the cats. seems like a great place to find a furry friend!

Parking nearby is horrendous, super busy even on the weekdays before the rush hour so I can't imagine weekends when people are out or other high traffic times. Get ready to make some rounds and pay for parking and be careful since there's very specific signage and times. The cafe itself is cute and cozy. Front area is a gift shop with lots of cat themed gifts and goodies like keychains, stickers, and such, and also some items from local and small artists too, which is neat. The cafe also has community events like movie showings ("The Cat Returns" was one of them which is a great choice) and cat yoga. If you're local, you can also get a time stamp if you are a frequent visitor. Definitely follow their socials for more information. There's reservations online and you can also do walk ins if it's not super busy. You can book for a 55 minute visit or a 30 minute visit. PRO-TIP: There's a discount for students, so if you want to be surrounded by some feline friends while you study or relax, great place to do so. You can hang your coat on the rack and there's a mini shelf area for your shoes. So you gotta walk in with socks! With each visit you can either get a hot cup of tea or a cold can or box drink from their fridge (sparking water, juices, etc.). Very refreshing and you can enjoy it in the cat area too. Sanitize your hands before and after visiting. There's lots of cats hiding around, sleeping, walking around, and some are super friendly and will go into your lap. I saw a dog on petfinder and contacted them and then AHAN reached out to let us know that particular dog was in the process of being adopted but to look at their website for others. So we did and then since I have already filled out an application, I just emailed the person back to let them know I was interested in another dog. Turns out these dogs were in Taiwan which is fine. But the second dog that we were interested in also fell through because then we were told that dog had Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia and their adoption is now pending. They said they will reach out to recommend others but never did. Why would you list a dog for adoption before you can clear them medically? My Korean Jindo/malinois rescue - Athena - is the absolute love of my life. Thank you!!] I adopted Athena November 2019, before Covid officially hit the US. The house visit might not be something they do during Covid. I have been looking for a rescue for a year using adopt a pet which is a platform where people can rehome their pets and rescues can post theirs. I fell instantly in love with Athena. The description of her was really, really thorough and there were 6 videos of her in different situations (with children, other dogs, on leash walking near a dog, playing with dogs, etc.) it really gave me a great picture of her personality and behavior. The process was easy once I went through the interviews. The first interview was with Jessamy and she asked me a lot of questions to ensure that I was able to care for Athena and that my place was adequate for her. I then had another FaceTime to meet Athena (who was in Taiwan) and that only reinforced that I wanted her. I sent over a donation for Athena and her crate. [Side note, I do not think that the suggested donation covers more than 40% of the total care they invest in their dogs. Athena has all her shots, a minor surgery, scans/radios and so much paperwork from her vet in Taiwan because they really take care of their health. The food she was given was good food (Royal Canin) and she had really good joint supplements. She also had toys and a blanket. The flight was covered by AHAN and so was half the crate. Also she received basic training and was potty trained, could sit/lay down and walk on a leash. If you can donate more or on a regular basis, please do. If you can't, adopting those wonderful pets is already amazing so thank you!] Within a week, Jessamy and her team took care of everything. Flights, instructions on how to pick up the dogs, crate sizes (to place in car after pick up). When I met Athena at the airport it was the best day of my life. I was there with 4 other families, all eagerly awaiting their furry baby. Jessamy stayed in San Francisco and visited all the families to make sure the dogs were acclimated. She provided really great training advice and made sure that I was comfortable with Athena. I did additional training with Athena and a trainer here which I highly recommend if you're getting ANY dog ANYWHERE. Also I'd like to share that the size of your home doesn't matter - it's the number of walks and quality of those that does. I lived in a studio (550 square feet) for the first 8 months in San Francisco. Athena is a 50lbs dog and was super happy. We do a walk in the morning (30mn), long afternoon one (45-60mn) and evening one (20mn). I cannot thank AHAN, Jessamy and their incredible team of volunteers for the work that they do. Thank you a million times over! Alexandra
