The bar is located inside the hotel. We entered through the lowest level and you can indicate on the elevator that you are going to the bar and it'll drop you off right there. It was bar service and so we ordered at the bar and collected our own drinks. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. Some tables were already reserved but we were able to snag a table outside. The views here are excellent! The river, the lights, the airplanes taking off and landing. All so great We got the Whiskey Charlie Mule, Old Scallywag, and Idillwyld Spritz. All were excellent. The old scallywag was a great old fashioned. The spritz was very refreshing and not too sweet. Overall, would recommend and would definitely revisit. read more

They appear to be light on staff, but that does not take away from the care and attention they provide. It just takes a bit longer to get a drink. Their old fashioned are high quality and we appreciate the cocktails are hand made, not batched or draught. They recently redid the seating space to make it more appropriate for all seasons. However the server I had profiled me from the door. She asked for my card to start a tab and charged me for my entire meal. Yes I did come from off the street sightseeing so I didn't have the best clothes on and I was a bit sweaty but I'm not different from anyone else. I lock my card when I travel but to be charged before I get my food was disheartening and disappointing. That to me let me know you wanted me gone from the start. Then when I said to close my order out she charged my card again. She asked was it locked I said no you charged me for the whole meal - you already let me know I was done. I think this might very well be the best rooftop bar view in the city. Beautiful place to be to watch the sunset. You have unobstructed views of Kennedy Center, Roslyn skyline, Jefferson Memorial all the way across to the George Washington Masonic Temple, the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, and National Harbor. Service was great, but I just walked up to the bar ordered a Negroni. It was delicious and the place was filled with attractive people, but I still found it easy to claim the South East corner for the very best view. Recommend coming by boat and docking (new pricing is $50 for four hours) because it's always a fun and relaxing way to come to the Wharf. On this visit I got the Whiskey Charlie mule and old scallywag, one for each hand. I don't like my drinks sweet so I requested to hold the simple syrup and to make them spirit forward. Both were perfect and went down to fast. I have read some reviews complaining of the drinks and the prices. I didn't have that experience, but recommend if there is anything wrong with your drink ask nicely and they will fix it. Service was ok, but I'd return when in the area. read more

Nice views. Staff were friendly. I visited for after-work drinks and a snack. The inside space is a glass hotbox; if they have air conditioning, it wasn't up to the task. And this was April, not even summer. Food took 45 min to arrive but tasted good. Bartenders don't measure ingredients so your mileage may vary if ordering mixed drinks, but mine tasted ok. Came here on a freezing, windy night so expectations may need to be adjusted. First, I never knew about this place until friends recommended it that lived in the area. You basically need to enter a lobby and get in the elevator that points you automatically to the floor of this bar. Second, the place is pretty small and I'm not sure what kind of atmosphere they are going for. There are only a few couches and a dozen or so bar stools outside of the actual bar area on the inside of this place. I'm sure the balcony has its perks when the weather isn't miserable. In terms of drinks, they are good, not great. You can easily get better drinks for half the price at the MGM a couple of miles away, or dozens of other bars in the DC area. Overall, though, it can be a cool place to have a date. However, be aware of the parking situation if you don't live in this area. read more

I was staying at the Canopy and the lady at front desk said that the rooftop bar was open, so we decided to go up for a drink. The setting is nice and there are some nice views. It wasn't too crowded when I was there and the hostess said there was service so I had a seat outside and after about 10 minutes, nobody walked by so I went up to the bar to order. Of course as soon as I sat down someone came by so I wasn't quite sure if I did the right thing or not. The seats outside were a little worn and threadbare so they didn't scream VIP. So this rooftop bar is at the top of this hotel. It's located next to Hank's! The views are just breathtaking. It rained Friday evening so the outdoor bar was closed. We came back the next day and no rain, so we got so many IG worthy pics in!! The inside isn't big but it's cozy! We came back again yesterday (Sunday) and it wasn't too crowded during the day! I've been to Whiskey Charlie at least 3 times. And in the past the experience has always been upscale, relaxing and flawless. This Saturday I went during the bloomaroo cherry blossom festival and I noticed that the level of service has declined and honestly that my bartender didn't really seem like he wanted to be there. The bar wasn't busy when we went maybe 6-8 people were around. I asked about the cherry blossom special drink they have been advertising for cherry blossom season and the event and I was met with a response that only one person there knows how to make the drink. I really wanted that drink to celebrate the season but I got the feeling that my bartender did not want to make that happen for me. So I ordered a different drink instead because it seemed like no one was going to make the cherry blossom drink. My bartender brought out the drink I had settled on and then 15 minutes later he handed me the cherry blossom drink. I told him that I didn't order that because it seemed like they didn't know how to make it. So he said okay and took it away. It was honestly a very awkward encounter. I was visiting town and saw that Whiskey Charlie is a rooftop bar in The Wharf area, which is by a river meaning beautiful views! I tried calling to make a reservation, but was only able to connect with the hotel portion and not the restaurant itself. We were able to walk in on a Wednesday without any problems. My friend and I got a couple of drinks while we took in the gorgeous view of the city and the river. I got a Moscow Mule and it was delicious. It is on the pricier side of $15 for one. My friend got whiskey and she also paid $15 for each glass. I have not tried the food so I cannot comment on that portion. The aesthetics of the restaurant/bar is seriously gorgeous. Gorgeous views! Drinks and service have been hit or miss depending on how crowded it gets and who is bartending. I will say their frozen drinks during the summer are pretty freaking delicious. Their pina colada is probably one of the best frozen cocktails I've had in years.
