My friend and I ordered from the happy hour menu and shared a few items. We had a couple of Hugo Spritzes, sliders, fries, and wings, and everything was delicious. After months of hearing great things about Lobby Bar, I finally had the chance to go for dinner. My party of four was seated in the back corner of the restaurant, and we were very comfortable. The menu is extensive, which made it tough to decide since everything sounded so appetizing. We all ordered drinks, and my caper martini was delicious. We chose to share appetizers, and both the tuna tartare and the bacon were excellent. The Caesar salad, however, was just okay, with no croutons and mostly cheese, so it felt unbalanced. My friends also shared the nuggets, which they enjoyed. Overall, the food, drinks, and atmosphere were great. Unfortunately, the service fell short. The best dirty martini I've had in a while! The oysters could have been shucked better, there were a fair amount of shell shards throughout, but otherwise the food was good and the service was super quick and attentive. My wife took me to Lobby Bar for my first Father's Day. We really enjoyed the concept of an upscale bar. We had the Caesar salad and lobby wing board to start. The Caesar was great and the wings were fantastic. Loved having all the sauces to choose from. For the entree, I had the double smash burger and my wife had the glizzy. My smash burger was banging. The glizzy was good but my wife said she could taste the difference between the glizzy and an average hot dog. I definitely did. We had a great host and enjoyed our experience. Lobby Bar is an intimate American bistro style restaurant in Capitol Hill right across from Eastern Market. It's fairly small so I would recommend making a reservation. They have daily HH from 3-6 to with drink and food specials. I honestly really surprised and how much I enjoyed the food. Lobby Bar is a delightful addition to the Eastern Market district in DC. With so many options to choose from it's hard to stand out when it comes to food and cocktails but Lobby Bar definitely does. They do something in which I love and that's making simple food even better. Traditional items like Pigs in a blanket are elevated using wagyu hotdogs, homemade chicken nuggets are elevated with caviar, and cauliflower is taken to the next level with a delicious buffalo/truffle sauce. The restaurant is small but packed with personality. It's sleek, cozy and definitely gives you a welcoming feeling. The staff is nice, but was very busy during my visit. There were only two people working the front of the house, and the restaurant was busy so interactions with the staff were quick but still friendly. I don't care what you read on other reviews but the cocktail program is second to none. Absolutely amazing. I tried a few different ones and they all nailed it. Came here for lunch today. It was my first time popping in here and I am happy. I tried something new. I got a cute window seat when you first come inside so you could people watch as you eat. I started with a tequila drink, and a bump of caviar, deviled eggs with crab meat. I took the bump of caviar and put it on top of the deviled egg and it was perfect. We ordered Brussels sprouts to share which were sweet flavorful and good. We followed up with a Caesar salad which came with so much shaved Parmesan, but it was really good and a slab of salmon medium well I am not a salmon skin girly, but the skin was so crispy and flavorful. I already feel a bit belated with this review because I came this summer for the Adult Happy Meal and IT. WAS. AWESOME! I arrived on a Friday evening and the place was packed. Like line out the door energy. Thankfully, I had snagged a reservation in advance and was seated right away in one of the cozy front booths. (At the time, they offered happy hour at any seat but not sure if that's still the case.) The Happy Meal itself? Legendary. For $31 during happy hour (3-6 PM), you got your choice of a burger, chicken sandwich, or the infamous McLobby nuggets, fries, and a glass of Veuve Clicquot. Yes, Veuve! Practically everyone around me had one as it was clearly the move. The vibe was buzzy but cozy, and I instantly knew I'd stumbled onto a Capitol Hill gem. I had really looked forward to finally trying Lobby Bar! From the moment I read a press release about it's opening it was on my radar as a place nearby to try. The menu looked fun, trendy and when I would walk by felt like it had high potential to be a go-to neighborhood spot. Unfortunately, it missed the mark in a number of areas. My first few moments walking in were incredible, more so because the hostess and another waitress with the most amazing energy greeted me while I was waiting for a friend. However, once seated things really went downhill from there. The waitress that seemed so lovely was not the waitress we ended up with. Oddly enough, we also thought it was kind of strange that there was a different waiter or waitress assigned for the only three tables that are outside. During our two hours there, we would see the waitress and waiter for the two other tables coming in an out non-stop, checking in on their tables. Out waitress would only come out AFTER we had to go in to ask for plates or to-go boxes. Yes, it was hot and she was serving people inside as well. But she would literally only check-in to ask us if we needed anything only after bringing out what we had to go in to ask for. She was also not helpful at all with ordering. I initially wanted to try the nuggets with caviar. So I decided to order that, some truffle fries and two dirty martinis. After I placed the order, I noticed that they actually had an $80 girl dinner special that literally was almost the same order except that it came with caesar salad as well, but she didn't even make mention or make the suggestion. So once I noticed it, I went back in and made the order. She then asked if I still wanted the additional order of nuggets. It was my understanding that the platter would have the same amount as the side (6 nuggets) so I kept the additional order in, only to find out there were at least a dozen nuggets on that platter. I mean there was so much food that I wish she had just given us a heads up, or perhaps made suggestions. Additionally, the batter for the chicken nuggets was extremely salty. They were so salty they were hard to enjoy. Since I had to take so many home, I actually took the breading off of them later so that I could enjoy them more. I would also make note that the $27 add on for caviar is more so for the visual. Some of the nuggets literally had 3-5 little eggs on top. The cocktails were good though! I think if it was just the food, I probably would have give this place 3 stars. But the poor service and $200 bill for bar food you could get anywhere else really made it a lackluster experience. We would have actually stayed longer and ordered another round , but we were so turned off that we packed it up and walked down to Duck and Peach where we able to grab another drink and enjoy good service. It absolutely pains me to have to give this restaurant 2 stars - but it's only fair that the number of stars accurately reflects the overall/entire experience that we had at Lobby Bar's Happy Hour. My reservation was for 4:45PM, but unfortunately because of a lane closure on my way to the restaurant - I arrived at 4:55PM. Within the 15 min grace period given to those with reservations. This 15 "hold" on the table is common practice in the DMV - and the confirmation email from Resy states that tables will be held for 15 minutes. When I checked in with the host, I was told that because I was late my table had been given to another group, and I would no longer be able to have HH, as HH is only for guests seated at the bar and in a particular section of the restaurant. And I was seated at a table (opposite the host stand & the entrance) and given the regular menu. So imagine my surprise when I see at least three other guests checked in after me given a HH menu and seated in all the sections of the restaurant (not just the HH seating that I had originally been told). I asked the host for a HH menu because I saw that there were inconsistencies. Immediately the host - Nicole, got extremely short with me, you would have thought that I was hurling abusive superlatives at her the way her demeanour COMPLETELY changed & she "threatened" me with getting the Manger. Of course I welcomed this idea, because she clearly at this stage was being unprofessional and also, I knew I was not asking for anything more than what other patrons had received. The Manager was extremely professional, allowed me to explain the situation & she saw that I was simply asking for the HH menu - and we were given the menu to order from. This clearly VISIBLY annoyed the host (Nicole), and she promptly told her manager she was going to walk out... (yes you read that right - she told her manager she was going to walk out of her shift because we were given the HH menu), and our request was accommodated for what was her mistake. Her Manger asked her to step outside and they had a conversation- I have no clue what was said or not said, but afterwards she came back in, resumed work... BUT continued giving me dirty looks throughout my entire meal. As I mentioned before - our table was directly opposite the host stand and entrance. At the end of the meal, we were asked if we would like to have dessert, we agreed, and lo and behold, WHO obliged to bring the dessert menu to our table but the host - Nicole!!! At this point, over an hour had passed by, but she still came to our table with the menus and a terrible demeanour; for me, nothing short of shockingly rude and passive aggressive. One of the comments she made was, "I know you don't want to talk to me, but here's the dessert menu and I hope your day gets better because clearly it's been terrible!". This was said VERY sarcastically and felt more like a threat than customer service/etiquette. After this encounter/exchange, my friend and I both decided that it was getting progressively uncomfortable; and we decided to ask for the bill instead. Management was extremely professional and offered us a complimentary dessert - which was kind, but at this point we were ready to leave. It's a shame, because overall it was a tasty meal, but after such a hostile and unpleasant interaction this complete ruined our experience. No one should have to be treated like that just for trying to dine out. This kind of unprofessionalism reflects very poorly on the restaurant as a whole. If management cares about their customers, they seriously need to evaluate who they're trusting to be the face of their establishment. As we were leaving Nicole also offered to give us her last name for this review... Yes, her snarky attitude took it that far! Uncomfortable to say the least... Tables not so much but the host said they all reserved. Ok ! Service was good. Kevin- my bartender was phenomenal, he made a superb porn star martini...and I really appreciate how accommodating Chef James was he came and spoke w/ me when he was giving me my caviar bump. Once seated our sever (Will, I believe but I know his name started with a W and he was a pleasureee!) got our drinks ordered and gave good recommendations. We ordered a few appetizers across the table as well. To our surprise we were given a free appetizer (tartare) due to our wait! We truly appreciated the gesture. The tartare was new to some of us and it was pretty tasty but the chips were certainly the highlight. Because I wanted to try a lot, I did a split check. We had the Wagyu Pigs in a Blanket, Caesar salad, truffle Parmesan fries, and the McLobby nuggets. EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS! The pigs in a blanket were light and cooked well. The Caesar was dressed and cheesed perfectly. The fries amazing. And the nuggets were so bomb, they were spot on (but better) than that of their dupe...which is my favorite chicken nugget (even at my big age). I also tried a bit of someone else's rigatoni and it was delicious (came be ordered w/ or w/o protein). Anddd the Brussels were good. Went here a week or so ago and had the best time! It lived up to the hype; it's a very cute and cozy neighborhood bar with great cocktails, killer food, and SUCH a lovely staff! I recommend a reservation, as they are often very busy or grab a seat at the bar! The bartender was lovely to chat with and the drinks were fantastic (all the martinis here are a must try). I tried the Girl Dinner (a platter with a Caesar salad, truffle fries, chicken nuggets which were so amazing, and comes with two martinis for $80) which I couldn't recommend more! It's honestly a great deal as it's a ton of food (perfect for two people) and comes with drinks. I'm excited to go back and try more of their food as the menu looks awesome. Lobby Bar is located in a great location, and I enjoyed the vibes of the bar. I was not very impressed with the Girl Dinner. In my opinion the chicken nuggets were just not great. I felt that placing caviar on top of such mediocre chicken nuggets was simply a waste of caviar. I did enjoy the fries that came with the dinner. The nuggets were a large portion size; I guess that could be considered a positive. Overall the girl dinner just seemed too gimmicky and didn't live up to the hype. We ordered a few cocktails which I enjoyed. It was a busy night, but the service was attentive enough for our needs. I really wanted to love this place. I like the chopped salad consistency. Would not order again. -Parmesan Truffle Fries: 3.5/5 again a lot of cheese. Very little truffle. Now, please understand it was more about the experience than the burger and the french fries. My french fries were a bit salty, but the burger was cool, not the most amazing burger I've ever had but keep that in mind. I did not order the caviar, but once I left I immediately knew I should have. I loved this concept so much. I felt like an adult big kid and it made my day. I ordered another drink on the menu, it had St. Germain in, can't remember the name, but it wasn't really that great. Started a few conversations at the bar and everybody was nice. We all chatted about the adult Happy meal because everybody was there for it, and it was cute and satisfying. My friend and I popped in on a Monday evening for drinks only. We got a booth right away and before we knew it, the server was taking our orders. The drink menu comes with draft beer, wine, four martinis, and four cocktails. My friend ordered The Great Caper Martini with caper brine and capers at the bottom. It comes with Blanc Vermouth, which is a bit more sweet. He found the combo of sweeter vermouth and caper jarring. He almost didn't finish it. Here is my review after visiting this place twice! The decor is beautiful. The decor was hand picked by the GM of the restaurant and he did such an amazing job. From the main floor to the bathroom. Everything is so beautiful and unique. I absolutely loved the cozy feel of the entire restaurant. The food was really good! Everything was super yummy! I highly recommend the smash burger, chicken pot pie, as well as the spicy rigatoni! The chicken sandwich was good, but could definitely use a sauce with a little kick. The espresso martini was probably the best espresso martini I've ever had! My only complaint is the lack of the beans. The beans have traditional significance and meaning. The staff was incredible- so friendly, attentive, and fun. You can even see the Capitol building from the nearby intersection, which adds to the whole experience. Been wanting to try this place since the happy hours dropped. Went on a Saturday instead and luckily they were able to accommodate us after calling to say we'd be a little late. I was nervous they wouldn't based on the way everyone talks about needing a reservation, so that was helpful. Inside had a very unique style and decor. The music was all covers and the perfect volume. Enough to have a little vibe, but still carry a conversation. Tried the "girl dinner" special (1) because no happy meals any more or on the weekends and (2) we were heading to dinner later that night. Hated the dirty martinis, but probably because it's just not my typical drink of choice. They do have the option to sub it for wine, beer, or a mocktail - should've taken that option in hindsight. I had low expectations for the nuggets, but they were actually tasty. I even told the manager that and he was shocked that I was surprised. I really didn't expect them to have any flavor. We opted out of the caviar topping because it didn't seem necessary for us on the nuggets. The Caesar salad was ok, way too much cheese for me (and I love cheese AND Caesar salads). The fries were cool, didn't eat too many because we had dinner plans later. The portion size was more than enough for two people. I love Lobby Bar. For drinks and/or food. Outside seating is a plus. Can be loud, but the service is prompt and friendly.
