This time, some family members were joining us on our vacation (their first time in Blue Ridge!) and since they have a large motorhome, we thought it would be more convenient if we stayed nearby. Since the Blue Ridge Toccoa River KOA offers cabins as well as RV and tent camping sites, we booked one of the dog friendly cabins for our week-long stay. Having had mixed experiences renting cabins through the local rental agencies, I wasn't sure what to expect, but from the moment we walked into the office to check in and during our short drive across the park to the cabin, I started to think we would be quite happy with our choice. First, some info on the location itself: - opened in/around 2020, so fairly new - situated directly on the Toccoa River - RV, tent and cabin options with some RV sites being paved and some graveled - very pet friendly, with a dog park available to all dogs and some RV sites having their own small dog park - play areas for children, a pool, showers and laundry facilities on site - just a couple of miles from downtown Blue Ridge and about a mile from a grocery store The location is in pristine condition. Beautifully maintained, it still looks like it just opened yesterday. All the staff that we encountered were friendly and helpful and it's obvious that they take pride in their business and in providing excellent (and proactive) customer service. Here's a great example - during the middle of the week, we were in downtown Blue Ridge for lunch with our family and they got a call from the staff. It was a windy day and they had their canopy out at their RV. The staff noticed that, went to the RV to see if they were inside and, getting no answer, called them to alert them. Our family members, being long-time RVers, were quite impressed that the staff took that extra step. Fortunately, they have a canopy that's flexible so didn't need to rush back. The cabin we rented was on the river and afforded us a wonderful view. The cabins aren't large (think "tiny house") but ours was sparkling clean and had everything we could want. The staff had supplied kitchen towels, soap, sponge, paper towels, plates, cups and plastic utensils, along with a starter set of coffee. Since we're used to rental cabins, we always bring our own lates/cups/utensils and coffee, creamer, filters, etc. There were some basic pots and pans, a toaster, a microwave, full sized oven/stove and fridge. Two rocking chairs, a side table and very nice (and very clean!) Weber grill complete the front porch. As weather can vary wildly in the mountains during the spring, we used the heat AND the air settings on the two units in the cabin on different days. The units are wall mounted in the main bedroom and main living area and both worked well to keep us comfortable. This was a terrific first experience for us and we'll be back.

New gravel is being put on some of the sites, The bathrooms have some replaced sink fixtures and are very clean. The campground grass has all been cut, plus most of the creek bank has also been cut. The old mill is on it's way to being opened back up for viewing. We camped in a 34 ft. fifth wheel , 50 amp power was good and the water was clean with a good taste. So the great folks at Skeenah Creek Campground and the Beautiful North Georgia scenery made our nine day stay a wonderful trip... KKoch

In rain and shine they worked their merit badges and adventured too. From First Aid to White Water Rafting their week was filled!! I dropped them off and picked them off. I was so impressed with how organized everything was. Let alone how beautiful it all was, I regretted not staying with them. The camp is growing and working to maintain itself. They really care about Scouting! If your kiddo is in Scouting, this is a camp not to miss!

And frankly it may not be 100% safe for kids to ride as cars are zooming by irrespective of direction of traffic. There are sharp turns and hills making it unsafe. - this really is a glorified parking lot... there are maybe 10 spots up on top with 10/10 view. Rest of the spots have 2/10 view. It looks like a mountain the map, but its really not high enough to see anything. So basically you sit in a parking lot staring at your retired neighbor, with kids who have nothing to occupy themselves with. If this is works for you then you will have fun. There are much better ways to spend money.

The hike was nearly 10 miles round trip and quite challenging. The weather was perfect, though a bit humid from recent rains, and we were soaked with sweat. We felt like we finally found a team with determination and patience. One of our new team members, nicknamed AlphaGo, had previously hiked ABC and EBC in Nepal. He was an amazing hiker, full of knowledge, humility, and a righteous manner. We truly enjoyed his company, along with his wife's.

Water is available via a hand water pump across from site #8 and the toilets are vault toilets but were well kept and did not smell horrible. The stream is gorgeous stream and loud enough to drown out most road noise. There are some hazardous trees and one 6inch tree did fall while we were there this weekend during a thunderstorm. At the back of the campground is a ~2 mile trail that connects to the AT. Most sites have a tent pad that will accommodate a 10'x10' tent. Sites 2, 4, and 8 driveways can really only accommodate 1 car and there are no extra parking spots. Driveways for sites 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, and 10 can accommodate 2 cars. Sites 1 and 3 are adjacent to the road and is going to be impacted by road noise. There is no campground host so be prepared to either scavenge wood or buy it in town, same goes for ice.

Long Ridge is a very well run camp ground with wonderful bathrooms and showers. They have spots for tent and electric and water van hook ups so they cater to all manner of camping. And while they advertise two night minimums online, if you call a person they'll let you stay for one night. Our neighbor smoked cigars and had slow R&B music playing till about 9pm and then it was quiet. We able to get a fire started fairly easily at our site. There was a pond with fish in it for catch and release only. No other amenities. The night was quiet and got down to the low 50s and I slept well enough to function the next day. All in all a great time here.

Fifth Wheel Owners BEWARE!!!!! We were recommended to stay at site 25 by the worker at check in…read more Very steep and unlevel roads; especially when leaving. Our camper came in contact with the side of our bed and tailgate multiple times. In the end we suffered a hole busted in our front cap from it hitting the side of the truck, we damaged the side of our truck bed and broke every support on our rear ladder. Upon check out we advised of damages and were only met with an "I'm sorry." 10/10 do not recommend if you own a fifth wheel or even a low riding bumper pull.
