Super yummy fresh donuts! Lovely ladies serving up donuts and coffee! They are filling donuts and boxing them up. Cool ambiance too! It's carry put or drive ip window. She even stopped and made my special request! I wanted a "Persian" which is what my hometown donut shop called a cinnamon roll with maple or Carmel icing topped with crushed nuts. It was crazy good! Based on other reviews, I really wanted to like this place! Is there more parking? This was our first time visiting and finding a spot to park was super difficult. I finally landed one of the only 2 spots in front of the store. Inside is nothing special, no menu, pricing, or anything. They actually have their donuts lined up behind glass so you can see them on your way through the drive thru (definitely would have been more convenient.) But the woman behind the counter very willingly told us every flavor she had left. My daughter is obsessed with sprinkle donuts that have blue icing, so, luckily, they had those and we bought 2. I also purchased a regular glazed, glazed twist, raspberry filled, and a maple. We bought a dozen total and I think my friend got roughly the same kinds, but a strawberry filled instead of raspberry. I'm sad to say 75% of the donuts were inedible. Not sure if they just had an off day, but it tasted like I was eating a plastic bag. The twist was the first one I bit into and the taste was so off putting, that I spit it out. To my dismay, my raspberry and glazed donuts tasted similar. I can't speak for the blue sprinkle ones-- my daughter ate the icing off one already, so I'll have to sneak a bite of the other. My friend said the same for her donuts, especially the strawberry one. She actually pulled over and purchased a drink at Chick-fil-A to get the taste out of her mouth. The maple donut was redeeming! If we do go back, I don't plan on getting as many, purely because I feel like I wasted my money. Whenever we come home to Kentucky to visit this is one of the places that we always go to. The donuts are made fresh daily. You can go inside and order but they also have a drive-thru. A very solid donut shop in downtown Hopkinsville. Two caveats: the parking can be a little bit difficult, but this is par for the course when you are downtown. The second caveat is that I am not a fan of their icing cream filling; it has so much sugar it's almost grainy. We bought apple fritters wanting to try one of the products our son helps to make. We drove down the street and pulled into a parking lot. We both started on our fritters. They were awesome. My wife is not a sweets eater and she finished her fritter and had we not been on diets we would have returned and purchased more. I have never in all my travels had a better apple fritter. Wow, Yelp wasn't kidding with the 5 star reviews! THE JOINT: Not very decorated, like a bakery. However, I like how you can see the rows of donuts and where they're made. DONUTS: They've got rows of glazed, jelly, long johns, sprinkled rings, chocolate, and even donut holes. When you bite into the donut it tastes like heaven. They're so fluffy and melt nicely in your mouth. I don't know how those ladies work there maintain a slim figure. STAFF: We were waited on the ladies that were extremely friendly. PRICE: For a milk, orange juice, 2 glazed donuts and a long john, it was under $6! What a deal! OTHER NOTES: They have a drive thru..incredibly convenient. These donuts are fantastic, the staff are sweet, and it's right by the train and the Pennyrile Historical Museum. If you have guilt about donuts just walk over to the farmer's market down the way on Saturday and get some veggies to create some balance. Whistlestop has several varieties, and you have to get their blueberry donut. Stopped in for a snack to offer to my students, out of the blue, since I was in the area over an hour early, and I had already been slowed down by traffic and their "lot" actually had an open spot (that's unusual). Their location is not very conducive to parking legally, JFYI. I realize (and respect) that this place is a local favorite, but that doesn't actually mean it's worth a trip from anyplace else to try (hint: it's not). Hi, I hope this post gets to the owner. When Whistlestop Donuts Shop was located on Main Street, Hopkinsville, the donuts had no artificial favoring in them, at least I could not taste it. Since, the business moved to E. 9th Street, the favoring is artificial, it leaves an a bad after taste in my mouth. I know today, most stores sale processed foods that have artificial favoring in their products, being a small business (in my opinion) you need to sale more quality produces to continue to have repeat costumers and to stay in business. Will you consider using Pure Vanilla Extract or what ever the flavoring you use to be natural and no partial hydronated oil? I plan to stop at your shop to leave a suggestion comment related to this subject. I ate more of your donuts, when you had that small shop on Main St. The donuts are cooked well at your 9th St. location, in most cases, a few times the cooking oil was not hot enough, so it soaked into the donuts. My husband and I would like the sugar content to be reduced. Have you consider having a lower sugar donut product for dieters, diabetics, and for people who just do not eat allot of sugar? Overall the present product is no better than any grocery store product; this is the reason you need to be better, you are a specialty shop. I grew-up with two chefs, mom & dad, my mother was a bakery chef, at a small bakery like yours, she baked pies and cobblers. People can from out-of-town to eat her pies and cobblers; the owner hated when my mom quit, because of her skills in baking, kept repeat customers. He was not able to hire another person who baked like she did...and a few years later he closed his shop. My dad taught me "a chef uses the best ingredients for his products to produce quality foods and a cook just put "stuff" together to feed the hunger". read more

These are the best donuts we have ever had! We drive from Springfield, TN on Saturday mornings to buy the long johns with chocolate icing (maple is yummy, too!) stuffed with something that's light, sweet & fluffy white. They are so worth the drive! If you love donuts, this place has a great variety. The selections are super fresh! The place is clean. The staff are very sweet. We drove up there once only to find our long johns all gone. Never fear! We told them what we wanted, we waited 5 minutes and we had our donuts in hand! I have been to the Hopkinsville location, and the one in Trenton Road, multiple times. While the donuts are decent ( Krispy Kreme is better) and it is close to my house I quit going because the ladies who work there act like you as a customer are an annoyance. No greeting, no smile, just frowns and attitude. Go to Krispy Kreme or Best Donut, they don't make you feel bad for being there and their donuts are better! read more
