We love the Mixer. I'd go as far as to say it's the best food we've had in the Clarksville/Hopkinsville/Nashville area. Great variety. Fantastic consistency! You can tell the staff and chefs strive for perfection. The owners are wonderful and strive to welcome each patron as family. Oh did I mention the food! Expertly handcrafted with small town prices! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The building is almost as beautiful as the food and they also have a bakery next door that supplies all the Mixer's baked goods.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So you are also getting fresh baked! If you haven't been you are truly missing out!

In February of 2020, I visited this fairly new establishment and said, "this review is just my first," stating plans to come back. Well, right after that, the world shut down and I started working in New York, so dear reader, I did not come back. Until today. Since that time, not only have I changed, but The Mixer has been torn down by a tornado and rebuilt. I had brunch here with a friend. New York has ruined me for all things. I keep that in mind when writing any review. I temper my expectations. The menu has typical brunch fair with a country spin--biscuits Benedict, steak frites, hot honey chicken and waffles, burgers, French toast foster (served on Texas toast), carnitas tacos. My friend and I both had the steak frites on the medium/medium rare side. Could have used a little seasoning, but overall the sauces were good. The fries could have been a little crisper, but they had what I think must have been a parmesan truffle herb seasoning. We were both pleased with the dish. We also had the cajun sausage and pepper egg rolls, which missed the mark for me. They weren't bad, but they just weren't seasoned or crispy. They have a brunch drink menu (blood Marys and mimosas), but you can order from the regular cocktail menu too. I really enjoyed the King's Gambit, made with Bombay Sapphire gin, pear honey syrup, passion fruit syrup, lemon, lime, smoked chili bitters, and ginger ale. Refreshing with a gentle bite. I also had the Monica, made with rum, Gifford peach de Rivne, passionfruit syrup, orgeat, and lemon. Also tasty. My friend's Elaine was also very good. She had a Club 28, which was a little too sweet for us (strawberry syrup and Triple Sec). I'm used to having to make reservations wherever I go in New York. I made a reservation here using Open Table, but it wasn't crowded at all. It wasn't loud or overwhelming, so very easy to have a conversation without yelling. No loud music playing overhead. I would still make a reservation to be safe, because that's the type of person I am, but it was a great vibe. Our server, Caitlin, was funny and down to earth and personable. She made sure we were taken care of and gave us recommendations. She was a fun girl and I'm glad she took care of us today. The bartender and support staff were also super nice and checked in on us from time to time. Dinner service has a nice crispy skin salmon I would be interested in trying, or maybe their tuscan pasta. Was everything perfect here? No. But was the vibe right? Yes. One of the better choices here in this little town. Also in a nice little downtown area next to cute shops. Plenty of parking. I wouldn't hesitate to visit and bring friends again.

Nothing but good...bartender was an artist...friendly, very informative and despite being busy...made sure everyone felt included...food was ridiculous, extremely upscale bar food...with a more gourmet side that I will visit in the future!!!

We happened to be in Hopkinsville and needed to find a place to eat. So happy we stopped by the mixer! The braised pork shank with pepperjack grits was amazing. The meat was seasoned nicely and was falling off the bone. The grits were amazing especially in the pan gravy. It would be a perfect dinner or late lunch but a bit heavy for brunch. The chicken and waffles was phenomenal. The chicken was a thigh making it exceptionally moist. It was crisp and seasoned well. The waffle was fluffy and not too sweet. The whipped maple syrup was a nice touch. They had a nice cocktail and coffee menu including espresso martinis, cappuccinos, etc. We will be back!! Service was good.

Everything about this place is 5 stars! We were here from out of town and tried this based on a recommendation from someone we met earlier in the day. Drinks-I ordered a Sierra Madre and a Monica and my husband had two Old Fashioneds, He really enjoyed his and I loved mine, the drinks were not rushed and you can tell they were made with care-not just thrown together. Food-they do a seasonal menu and there were so many great options to choose from. I got the Creole fish tacos and they were so delicious! My husband ordered the bone in pork chop and it was amazing-he couldn't stop raving about how delicious it was. I tried a bite and had to agree-so darn good! Service-friendly and timely, we were never waiting for anything too long. The owners were so great to talk with and gave great recommendations of other places in the area to try. Next time we come back this way-this will be the first place we go!

    Charcuterie board. Delicious!!

Service was great and the manager (I assume) actually came out and asked me how I liked the charcuterie board. Really, it's the absolutely best CB I've ever had!! It was arranged beautifully, too. The pepperoni was arranged in a flower and the salami was arranged geometrically. Cool. The main dish was a roast BBQ chicken dish with rice and asparagus. Veggies were wonderful. I was able to eat from the non-spear end and it was super tender! While the asparagus was blackened, it didn't taste burnt at all. White chicken meat is usually dry, but not so with this dish! The BBQ sauce is perfect. As steak was not on the menu, I chose the next best thing. Not sorry, either!! I found out the chef's name is Benito Juarez from Utah and was classically trained by a French chef. Dang! On a Saturday, I'm surprised this place wasn't packed to the rafters with people jonesing for this guy's food. I HIGHLY recommend. I don't usually give 5 stars, but this place... yeah!!

    Wild mushroom risotto with steak

So, I've not dined in every restaurant in Hopkinsville KY and haven't spent a ton of time in the city for many years, but if there's a better restaurant than The Mixer in the town I would be shocked. We were going to be in town for a night and wanted to treat a family member to a good dinner and this was recommended in every search I tried. I'm glad it was! This was an excellent dining experience. First off--the reservation process (online) is simple. Secondly, the little touches make all the difference. It's a great layout and ambience/atmosphere, the service was friendly and efficient, everything (including the restrooms) was immaculately clean, the silverware was heavy and high quality, the napkins were top of the line--seriously, not things I typically make note of but it was obvious and elevated the whole experience. Being the holiday season there was Christmas music on rotation--but instrumental, modern, and low key which added to its favor as well. Now--most importantly--the food was excellent. For an appetizer we tried the fried chicken potstickers and they were very good. For an entree, I had the wild mushroom risotto and added steak to it, medium rare. The risotto was top of the line and would have sufficed as a meal but the steak was a nice tough and cooked to order perfectly. Other dishes ordered at our table included the thick bone-in porkchop with fried zucchini and roasted potatoes w/ chimichurri, as well as the Mixer burger with blackened mac'n'cheese. Everyone at my table thoroughly enjoyed their choices and I got to sample a little of each as well--the fried zuchinni were the best of that side I've ever had with breading that made them appear like the best tenders you've ever ordered. The blackened mac'n'cheese with multiple cheeses and a smoky, crunchy baked topping was out of this world. We had room for dessert and opted for the cheesecake and the triple chocolate cake. Both were fantastic. There's an excellent cocktail menu as well, though we didn't utilize it this time around. I'll definitely be back. Located downtown, there's a free lot right beside of it.

I love that it's in an old historic building. Has a great atmosphere and absolutely delicious food. We had the ahi tuna poke bowl and loved it. We also had the fried green tomato bruchetta, yum yum. We will definitely be putting this restaurant on our weekend rotation.

    Hamburger with egg and avocado

Amazing! Husband had a special burger that included an egg and avocado...he is in heaven. I had the goat cheese beet salad with sirloin...don't judge me for my beet selection. I love picked bears and theirs are delicious. This is probably my 5th time eating here and they never disappoint. The carrot cake has walnuts you can find and taste wonderful. The people in the kitchen are knocking it out of the park. The Mixer could easily compete in Nashville for top restaurants. Don't let Hopkinsville fool you...this is worth many visits. By the way we drove 30 miles to get here and Nashville is 40 minutes away.

We've been to Harper House a couple of times, many moons ago when it was located in…read moreHopkinsville...but never made it up to Cadiz when they relocated until last November. I didn't take any photos during that trip for this review and since everything about Harper House said, "Come on back and get some more." we decided to get back up there for another round. Reservations were for 7pm and we got there a tad early, but were seated promptly and probably right at 7pm...I wasn't checking my watch. We started off with a basket of their fried pickles (last time we started with the Group Grazing Board, but we had more in our party). They came out from the kitchen quickly and there's a really good portion for the price. They weren't as crispy as they could be, but they were really tasty. They came with a house made ranch dipping sauce that was just what we expected...ranch sauce. They did bring out some of their house cornbread as well with strawberry butter. I'm not a fan of cornbread all in all unless it comes in muffin form with cheese and jalapenos to eat with some pinto beans...but this was good. Had a hint of sweetness to it as well, which went well with the strawberry butter. My wife ordered the 7oz center cut filet mignon but she subsituted the mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts for Harper House Mac-n-Cheese and Crispy Red Potatoes. Initially, the filet came out slightly underdone, but they quickly made it right. She really liked it, said that it was exactly what a filet should be...and the peppercorn demi glaze made it that much better. I ordered the ribeye and kept the sides as is (baked potato & thin cut crispy onion strings). This was a super flavorful cut with an insanely rich, bold flavor and just the right amount of fat marbled throughout the cut. If you live right there in Cadiz and haven't been to Harper House, head over there to grab a bite. If you live down I24, you owe it to yourself to make the 30 minute drive and give it a shot. It's well worth the trip.

The Pond doesn't disappoint. It is exactly what one would expect when seeking a dive bar atmosphere. A little ratty, a little rowdy and a whole lot of fun. The coup de grace was they had Guinness on tap, which was completely unexpected. We traveled to Franklin looking for an alternative to Broadway in Nashville on our first night in town. It is worth the trip. Franklin is a very old town with great old architecture and buildings over 200 years old that still look stunning. The Pond was the real reason for my drive down although it was our last stop on our tour of Franklin. The staff was friendly, the Hamburger and fries was delicious, and the beer was cold. They have many options to choose from on tap. They have Darts inside and a couch you'd find down in your friends basement that he found on a tree bank trash day, but that simply adds to the dive bar charm. We stayed for one drink and the burger as we were exhausted from a red eye flight the night before. If you're looking for a dive bar that stays open late and apparently gets packed as the night goes on, this is the spot for you. Most places close early in Franklin, so this is apparently the after hours spot that everyone ends up going to when all other options are closed. The Pond reminded me of a few dive bar spots in Vegas, and I have to recommend you pay them a visit, if for no other reason, just to say you've been there.
