The food was lovely but I cannot in good conscience recommend this place after the nightmarish experience I had earlier today. I made my booking through TheFork and it included a £50 off loyalty voucher. Upon entering the restaurant I informed the staff so that I could verify they saw the note on my reservation. They had no idea what I was talking about so I contacted TheFork support who had to call the restaurant. I assumed it would be sorted at this stage.
I proceeded to order from the lunch express menu (which was only brought to me upon request, mind you). I ordered the two course with wine (£35) and the server asked if I wanted the wine brought out with the second course, which I thought was an odd question. I also ordered the bread basket, which they charged £8.50 for.
Midway through my first course, the manager comes out and informs me that since my total bill is only £50.02, that I would need to order more. Seems odd, but okay. I told her I would have a side of frites (£7). Now, she seemingly never conveyed this to anyone. I assumed she would tell the server, but apparently she wanted me to mention it to him. Odd.
Towards the end of my meal, someone comes out to ask me for the code to apply to my bill. I have no idea what they're talking about and neither does TheFork. I'm left sitting there for another 25 ish minutes while TheFork support tries to intervene. Nowhere in this time did anyone think to offer a complementary glass of wine or dessert. The manager ended up comping the remainder of the bill (the frites I didn't want to begin with) and was apologetic, but it was just a horrific experience.
If a restaurant is going to use a booking software, they need to make sure everyone is trained up on it.
The food was great though! Highly enjoyed the sea bass. read more
