This is actually a review for the Apple Valley location. My Mother died on the 17th of last month. It has left me alone on this Earth. No Family or Friends is to speak of... Just a stack of bills. I have contacted them on three occasions asking for a death certificate so that I may settle my Mother's debts. I sent three more attempts today (LESS CORDIALLY) TELLING THEM IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS that I need to have the death certificates in hand in order to get the processes started. No reply as of yet. This seems like a shitty service whether you're lying in or paying for a coffin.

And the passive aggressive, condescending way in which they treated my sister-in-law, the grieving widow of my brother, in response to these issues was abhorrent. I wouldn't recommend their services for the death of a house fly, let alone a human being.

They strip the graves of any personal memories including flowers at inconsistent times every month including even the day after our son's 21st birthday and 1st anniversary, taking fresh flowers and a memorial plague. They throw everything in a dirty box and we have had many dead, fresh flowers and broken expensive keepsakes. In addition, the head groundskeeper Jeff if downright hostile and cruel when you dare ask him why this is necessary. I have witnessed the tears and pain of many other parents who have children and young adults buried there when they see any small personal memorial ripped away and many times ruined by this cemetery with no compassion. Don't bother to try and get to the bottom of it as we have found the apple valley staff points at the cemetery council, and the council states it is actually the city of apple valley with these ridiculous practices. One council member shared he has also have been a victim of this treatment of his loved one's grave site from apple valley. Find another beautiful cemetery that actually has compassion and spare yourselves the unnecessary heartache.

When our mother went into hospice care, our family was thrown into a process that we were entirely…read moreunfamiliar and unprepared for. It was a very scary and confusing time! Luckily, Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home had been suggested to us before our mother's death. When she died, Ballard-Sunder was there late at night to pick up her body. They guided us each step of the way. It was a great relief. We had about four meetings at different stages of the funeral process. Each meeting was full of helpful information and open and direct answers to every one of our questions. If Ballard-Sunder didn't know an answer they found the answer for us. Every part of the funeral process was organized with our participation and each stage it was very apparent to our family that Ballard-Sunder was going above and beyond. Every personal item was secured and cared for. Each detail down to the fingernail polish was accounted for. If there were potential complications such as weather or catering mishaps, they were prepared for it. Even the music to the videos was cued and timed to certain pictures and it wasn't just thrown together. Every deadline that was given was met to a T. Every promise made was a promise kept. Ballard-Sunder really cares about their work and it shows. It was such a relief for our family that everything was guided and at the same time personalized for who our mother was. We were really impressed with Ballard-Sunders cultural sensitivity. (Our congregation was half white and half Filipino-American.) Everybody felt welcome and everyone felt safe and comfortable enough to mourn in their own ways and Ballard-Sunder recognized the differences and commonalities in people that created an atmosphere for celebration and grief. We invited their staff to eat with us and we were so happy that they did. Our mom's funeral was beautiful and we know she would have been very happy with it. He brought my sister and I into a room. He sat at a raised desk and we sat 4 feet away in chairs against the wall. When Sam wanted to show me a book or paperwork, he did not get up or come to my side but stretched across the desk to share things with me. It was the most impersonal meeting, on the worst day of my life, that I have ever been involved in. When I told Sam that I did not care for the impersonal room he said we could reschedule. Reschedule? Really? The last thing I wanted to do was have to go back. You need a conference room setting where your team members can give your customers a better experience. That room was horrible. And to top it off when he went to show us your urns, I looked down at this shoes that were probably beyond polishing. Very unprofessional. Get it together. Your first task is to NOT bring people into that room in Eden Prairie. Worst customer experience on the worst day of my life. Period
