They use the same Grill from 1938, and I had no complaints that the burgers were very flavorful. We sat in a window booth to accommodate 4 adults and a child. The afternoon sun was incredibly intense, so without blinds we were basically blinded by the sun and I think I got a sunburn, while waiting for our meal. We all got classic Burgers. I'd say overall the quality of the cheeseburger was very high, and I'm not typically a cheeseburger fan. I really enjoyed the grilled onions, and it came with lettuce tomato and pickle which I enjoy. Very straightforward, No Frills and this is also reflected in really great prices. A nice size cheeseburger for $3.60 is pretty much unheard of anymore. The curly cues were just okay, more ends and bits than actual full fries. if I return, I think I tried the onion rings. I also like that they serve breakfast all day. read more

Ahhhh White Grill. My Grandparents Lewis and Marie until recently lived in Nevada and my father grew up here in this small town. Ever since I can remember we always had to eat here. The hamburgers are good and greasy with yummy grilled onions and curly fries on the side. They have a few tables but we always sat at the counter. My dad hung out here as a teen on Friday night and to this day you can go by there on a Friday night and the teens still hang out there. My grandmother passed away and until a month ago my grandfather still lived in town. He moved to KC a few years ago and passed away in June 2007. It makes me very sad. Bye White Grill. read more

Definitely, the brightest spot on that side of town. A cute little diner with big eats. Had the double cheeseburger, cooked on the flat grill. Great flavor but what knocked me out was the grilled onions it comes with! Also, lettuce and tomato...not grilled. The "Suzy Q's" were good and lots of them. We found this adorable little diner by accident while on a road trip. It's located in the center of Nevada. Nevada, Missouri, that is, and apparently it has been there since it opened in 1938! Although we arrived around 2pm, it was still full of customers, and we were lucky to find two seats at the counter. We ordered cheeseburgers, and I ordered fries, while my dining partner ordered tater tots. It was busy so we had to wait a bit, but it was worth it. The burger was crunchy from the onions I ordered being seared onto the patty - the result was a flavorful bit of perfectly seasoned beef, soft bun, melty cheese and just the right amount of ketchup and mustard. The fries were the crinkly type, although they also have something called "Suzie Qs" which is basically a MASS of skinny cut fries piled on the plate. I may have to go back just to try them. All in all, it was one of the better burgers I've had, and the total for our lunches with drinks was well under $20. We could not have gotten burgers and fries at McDonald's for that, nor would they have been comparable. The White Grill is definitely worth a stop. If you do go, make sure you're hungry so you can try one of their shakes after enjoying a burger and fries! read more

I lived in or around Nevada, MO for the greater part of my life, and somehow never ate White Grill until the day I moved away. That said, people in Nevada breathe for White Grill. They are shocked if you've been in town more than several hours and haven't eaten there yet. Most people swear by "the mess," which is a mixture of delicious breakfast foods on one plate. I hear the suzies are great, but most Nevada residents will agree that they are almost too greasy. Not sure, because I never tried them. Being away from Nevada now does make me curious about the actual taste of their food items, but the history is enough to be proud. I ate at White Grill numerous times on the way to and from KC in the '80s. A greasy spoon with great burgers then. I recently was in the area again and went back. OMG. Disgusting. Grease build-up literally 3" thick hanging off the walls like stalactites, fry station, etc. Food all over the floor, the trash can next to the grill was overflowing and filthy all over, bare electric outlets, NO ONE wearing masks or gloves. Raw hands picking up food and counting rings/fries to put on plates. Wiping hands on t-shirt and jeans and then continuing to touch food. Burgers - crappy. Burnt black onions, no room to grill buns, no tomato, lettuce, onion as ordered. Cold soggy rings left in the basket for ages before being served. Fries were dark brown with OLD grease. Coke tasted soapy. I don't think that place has been cleaned since I was there 30 yrs ago. HORRIBLE and people act like it is what it used to be. Nope. Never again. read more

White Grill seems to have a "care less" attitude. They have been doing it this way since 1938 so they care less about making any changes to improve their product or service.
