I'll admit, when I first ordered, I did think that they were a little expensive. However, it turns out that was because I was expecting the food to be of a lower standard. What they brought out to us was worth every penny. This is a fantastic little place, a hidden gem. Worth driving over an hour to go to, seriously.

It was a lucky dip that ended in a wonderful meal and a very nice experience thanks to the pub owners. We rocked up around 4pm and were told by a staff member in the parking lot, who kindly offered to take our photo, that they were probably out of roast being it was so late in the day but he would speak to the chef. 20 mins later we had a couple of beverages at a nice table in the lounge overlooking the water and a delicious beef roast dinner with root vegetables, cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire puddings and gravy. We cleaned our plates and followed lunch up with a sweet and tasty slice of homemade carrot cake. It was absolutely fantastic. The staff were ever so friendly and really looked after us. It's a traditional English pub with plenty of seating and a good assortment of locally-sourced food options. When I asked about my gluten allergy, they did everything possible to make sure my meal didn't contain gluten. They even had gluten-free bread! All the food was delightful, and the staff were amazing. Even the owner of the pub waited on us and chatted with us for a bit. Historically, this pub has been around for hundreds of years. Recently, the pub faced closure, but the community was able to raise the money to keep the pub from closing. Thousands of pounds raised in 48 hours! Impressive. Now the pub is owned by the village, and is open to the public. If you're in the area, definitely drop by for some delightful food, drink and friendly service.
