Ordered steak sandwich which was very disappointing. Even though it's not an expensive dish it could have been so much better. The chimchurri sauce adds nothing significant to the sandwich. It needed some fried onions and to be served at a much higher temperature. The foccaccia is not very rustic and could have been toasted lightly for a significant improvement. The steak was more ir less cold and was reminiscent of a roast beef sandwich. My score for that dish 3/10. Service good our French host was superb. Server was polite and efficient. 9/10 read more

After a full day of shopping with family, I really wanted a break and called "Happy Hour" for myself. My mom was interested, so we told everyone else to meet at the White Horse. It was a warm August day, but the White Horse was very comfortably air conditioned, which was refreshing. We sat and looked at the menus and decided to try a couple gin drinks. They not only have a huge selection of gin, they also have a wide variety of Fever Tree tonics. For our first round, I chose for my mom - the Monkey 47 - Schwarzwald Dry Gin with the Fever Tree Spiced Orange Ginger Ale. For myself, I picked a heavy herbal gin with an F.T. Elderflower tonic. On my second drink, I ordered the Audemus Pink Pepper Gin with the F.T. Aromatic Tonic. By the time my family came by, we ordered two plates of the mini meat pies as an appetizer, a few cokes, beers and had an in-between lunch and dinner meal that was satisfying. read more

I've been to the White Horse Hammersmith and Fulham location as well as the Soho location and I thoroughly recommend this place. They have a broad food menu, the restaurant is beautiful, and the service has been quick every time. Aga is an exceptional waitress! read more

3.5 PROS - Amazing Fish and Chips (especially the fish)! The batter is perfect and there is a nice crunch after every bite. Also, great burger - very juicy and they do not skimp. The outdoor seating in the backyard patio is perfect (if you don't mind the smokers) for an after work unwinding session with your friends. CONS - Service is a bit slow but they are very friendly. The night time crowd it attracts is kinda douchey (it is very busy at the bar at nightfall). CONCLUSION - So many other great pubs, I probably won't be back personally unless someone suggests it. read more

This place seems to be popular and was very busy. Went with some co-workers for drinks and dinner. We had a few beers in the standing area out front and then went inside to have dinner. The dinner area was upstairs, away from the noise of the pub which was nice. The food was average. I ordered the Ale-Glazed Shropshire Chicken and it was good. My first choice, the baked salmon - as well as two different first choices of two others in our group - were not available. So three of their main dishes were unavailable to order. Wandering Carnaby Street we needed a pint but all the 'main road' pubs were jam packed. Down a side street we noticed The White Horse and decided to investigate. It was full but there seemed to be a steady stream of people in and out and it didn't take too long for a table to be free. Service at the bar was quick and very friendly, a good point for tourism. I noticed that there was an upstairs restaurant and next visit we will give it a try. Nice old English type pub and well worth a visit. read more

This pub has something of the Wetherspoons about it with an added, unexplainable charm. It is quite difficult to differentiate between a pub being good and a pub being bad but nevertheless the venue of many a good time. I think the latter might be the case with the White Horse because there really is nothing special about it and there are several superior spots in the surrounding area. It's vast and packed at the weekends so unless you have a table it's quite possible to spend the evening getting jostled about and covered in beer as you wrestle in an unglamorous fashion with an over-sized handbag and the purchases f the day. When I come here I tend to spend most of my time outside, being one of the lesser spotted smoker species still inhabiting an urban environment. It's as good a pub as any to stand outside of and location wise, being here at the weekend slightly raises the chances of meeting someone interesting and/or attractive. read more

The White Horse is regularly frequently on after work drinks on a Friday and the drinks are very reasonable and the ale according to friend is very nice indeed. They also serve hot food, though I've never tried, I've smelled and it smells amazing. They've got outdoor heaters which I bask in when standing outside with fellow colleagues, who are smokers, and upstairs they have a smaller more chilled out dining room that you can hire. My company holds a pub quiz night there every now and again and it's a good space to rent. The main section is dimly lit and quite cozy though I'm always more outside than inside, and everyone else tends to be too. Drinks are very reasonable and it's just a nice place for a relaxed drink. read more

For some reason one of my friends always has a get together at the White Horse. It's you typical London pub...nothing really special. We sit upstairs and apparently that area is a dining room that you can hire at least that is what one of the other reviews stated...hmmm...maybe that is why we came here. Okay, so after a very long day of walking around and shopping, 2 friends and I were just looking for a place with excellent pub grub and alcohol, that actually had seats available. We popped upstairs to the dining area, to find plenty of empty tables, and now I know why. First off, our server was great. and our drinks were fine. But the food, not so much.... I ordered a three course meal. My starter of fried brie wasn't done all the way and still had cold, solid bits in the middle. My steak & ale pie came out looking like it would be great, but once I got beyond the flaky pie top, there were 3 small chunks of fatty meat, in little to no sauce. That is not a pie. A pie has fillings in the middle, not empty space. Last, I had a rhubarb and raspberry crumble, which was, mediocre. We enjoyed the rest of our time there, the ambiance upstairs was nice and our drinks were good. Server again, she was lovely. However, my two dinner partners were also disappointed in their meals, though less so than I. Probably won't be back unless I get caught near Carnaby Street again and want to get out of the rain and have a pint. read more

Been here a few times and have always enjoyed myself. There's an upstairs room that makes it qualify as a gastropub, and several levels of seating downstairs. They're always willing to reserve space, even for as many as ~30 people, so we've gone here after work on a few occasions to celebrate random things. They usually have several ales on cask, including the normal London Pride and Doom Bar, but also four or five others that you'll probably have never heard of. They also have a good selection of bottled beers and ciders, as well as some special mixed drinks they'll make that are delicious. The beef burger is high quality and extremely flavorful (hard to find at a pub in central London!) for under £10. It usually fills up pretty quickly in the evening, and on a nice day people will spill out into the street. I'm going with four stars here because this place has pretty good drink selections and I've always enjoyed the food (despite what others have said about it). If you're in the area it's a good spot to go for a pint or grab some food. read more

This was an established favourite of ours when I first came to London; our original office was a couple of streets away - and now we are back in the neighbourhood, we are returning to old favourites! Since we are almost always here on a Friday, my main experience of the White Horse is of it being packed. That being said, the main bar is split in two, both of which have a decent amount of standing room meaning you can queue for the bar and not be totally squashed in during the more busy times. On quieter days (midweek evenings) there's usually sitting room in either half, and also in the back areas which are down a few stairs. The beer selection is as expected for the area; the usual lagers and ales on tap, numerous bottles (including my favourite, Innes & Gunn) of beer and cider, and all the spirits you need. One big positive I can give the White Horse over the other busy bars in the area is that it is well staffed. I never seem to be waiting long even on the most crammed evenings; many places you feel there are far too few people serving far too many. Also the staff seem very friendly and chatty! But my main reason for liking the White Horse is the location; round the corner from Carnaby Street, the cobbled road and pretty buildings make standing outside on a dry, warm day a real pleasure. It's often a good bet too, when it is busy inside, as there is quite a generous outside standing area given the size of the place. read more

Terrible food. Ordered fish and chips with mushy peas figuring that there is not a whole lot that can go wrong. It did. Fish was soggy as were the fries. Portions were quite small and the mushy peas came in a tiny little dixie cup.And it was pricey too. Seemed like a tourist rip off joint since most of the other diners were visitors as well. The quintessential Soho pub - at least as far as I am concerned. When my father was an editor and later director at various film companies located in Soho, my parents used to joke that his mobile, stangely, had no signal whatsoever in the White Horse. No truth in this of course, but it does tell us that this is the kind of pub to attract all kinds of media types - and keep them there. Having said that, The White Horse is far from swanky and not even slightly pretentious. It's a proper pub in the heart of luvvie land - perhaps why it's usually packed to the rafters, inside and out. Good quick service from the central square bar and what looked like plenty of draught beers (ales? all the same to me). Mine was a great G&T. Perfect post-work drinking dive. read more

One of those bars that I only visit when I'm meeting people after work in Soho. Unexceptional food and a relatively basic choice of beer, spirits and wine. We ate at the Pub in a busy rainy August afternoon. The first floor was full so the manger recommended the second floor. We were a party of 7 aduts, teens and 1 child. We all found something to our liking on their menu. We had our own waitress and she was fantastic! She was on top of everything. Our food was hot, fresh and it came quicky. A solid Nicholson's pub in the heart of London. I came here during the IPA fest and tried a few real ales. Selection is par for Nicholson's. Ambiance is lovely. A few levels of seating plus an outdoor area. Bartenders were pleasant. There is a nice food menu but I didn't have anything. A good spot to stop into. read more

I first went to the White Horse because It was just down the block from my office, but I ended up returning whenever I was in London. Why? You ask... It's not trendy, it's not fancy, it's probably not "cool", but that's not what I want in a bar. I'm happy with a friendly, relatively clean place that isn't so crazy overpacked - but that has good drinks, fair prices, nice staff, and decent food... And the White Horse checks all the boxes. I had many a beer or cider downstairs in the bar, and several meals in the small dining room upstairs, and have no complaints. Were they among the best meals I had in London? No, but if that's what you're after, you're not eating in ANY pub. The staff was always pleasant and attentive, and even though I was only there for maybe 30 minutes to have a quick snack and a pint on my first trip - 3 months later the same woman recognized me, remembered where I was from, and welcomed me back.
