There is nothing good about this dive. Well shots aren't cheap. Lots of military and feds here mixing with locals. The waiters aren't great and will walk with your change unless you remind. This is the Ramada house bar. When we walked in the sour smell of incompletely cleaned puke was hard to ignore so we sat outside. Strictly macro brews on tap plus Shiner. We asked about cider, they offered IPAs, but maybe that was a language barrier. Typically low prices for the area so you won't spend much. read more

Contrary to W.T., I had a great experience at the White Horse Lounge. My server was attentive and friendly. I never had to wait long for another beer as she seemed to always be around without being obtrusive--the hallmark of a great server in my opinion. I went in on Wednesday night which is karaoke night and had a blast. There seemed to be a good mix of locals and travelers. I was staying over at the La Quinta so I just walked the short distance. One gripe I had was that the speakers to the karaoke were way too loud. I had to shout at my friend sitting across the table. I don't know why DJs always feel the need to test the limits of their speaker capabilities in such a small, confined places, but what can you do. I guess it's better than the music being too soft. Beers on tap seemed limited to the standard: Miller light, prolly a bud product, dos equis, and shiner. I think they may have had blue moon but I'm not sure. That seems to be the standard for beers on tap here in Del Rio, so I can't fault them for that. I thought the prices for drafts were very reasonable. I think it was around 3.75 per draft beer which was served in a glass a little bit larger than a pint. I didn't order any shots or liquor so I cannot comment on that. It's a small space so I think it might get crowded on some nights but last Wednesday was perfect. It had a friendly crowd to boot, so it was a really enjoyable evening. They have a small outside area for smokers/people who want to sit outside. All in all, it wasn't a bad little bar for Del Rio. I'd go back. OH! One negative was that by the time I found a song I wanted to sing (read: imbibed enough alcohol), the DJ was shutting down. I think he is there from 8:30pm to 12am-ish. read more

The servers were somewhat attentive if they notice you, they huddled around the point of sale machine. Drinks were mixed well and prices reasonable. Seating was scarce, I actually felt like I was in one of those tiny hole in the wall bars in Korea that attempted to make the place appealing to Americans. Live music was a good touch, but I shouldn't be shouting at the person less than three feet from me. Although the place has been renovated and significantly improved, WHL has so much more potential. Place is horrible. Sat down, noticed 3-4 female employees by POS machine, provided no menu to me, no welcome, didn't take my order after sitting for 5-10 minutes. Walked up to bar, ordered from busy bartender, give him my $2 tip for a $4 drink and continued to order from him and tip him. The only thing I saw the female employees do was chat up possible locals that come into a cheesy hotel bar (who even does that?). You know if you actually work all the tables you will find travelers actually tip good especially when they receive $50+ a day in per diem to eat and go out. Definitely could use some wait staff training. How is it that the busboys were more friendly and attentive than that wait staff? It seemed as every waitress had a scowl on their face, and when they served you, it's as if I should have been blessed to be in their presence. The only thing that saved the night was the live music. Good friendly band that made it worth dealing with the crabby patties serving drinks. If it wasn't for the band the place would've received 1 star. read more
