Looking for something decorative or delightfully tacky, this may be your place. In October 2019, it marked 24 years in Cornelius for us and this place has been there for most of the time. We've not bought anything from them in the near past but have bought a statue of a Labrador for my wife. At the time, they did not have anything in Chocolate but my eldest son who was living with us at the time, painted it Chocolate. The Chocolate Lab currently sit on top of a manhole cover on the lake side of our Condo and looks great. Next to the Lab is another statue of an Angel which also came from White House. I visited in search of fallen pots, which they did not have. I browsed around anyway and ended up purchasing 3 items: a large and small pot + a small puppy statue. This place seems to have an endless collection of pots and I enjoyed just walking thru. Many items are pretty pricey, but there are also quite a few nice budget friendly items. There was a also a clearance section containing a pretty good size and selection of merchandise, which is where I found my pots. Although everything is outdoors, it is well organized by style/size. The salesperson greeted me as soon as he saw me and told me that some of the items were on clearance due to minor damage while others had simply been older items that they wanted to clear out. I met the owner as well as a salesperson and both were very nice. They wrapped the larger pot in burlap and placed everything into my car for me. This store also sells outdoor furniture and fountains. I was confused about parking initially when I pulled in, but called and was told to park on the horseshoe driveway (basically wherever). I grew up down the road from this business... I've driven by hundreds of times, but just went in for the first time last weekend. And I'm so glad I did! Shopping here was SUCH a different experience from visiting the big box stores like Home Depot or Garden Ridge Pottery. Here's why I liked it so much - 1. PERSONAL TOUCH - When I got out of the car, I was immediately greeted by 3 friend staff members. I described what I was looking for (a 14-18" planter w/ a drain hole in the bottom, and a large bowl to plant kale in) and one of the guys explained the layout of the different planters and showed me where to start looking. As I was trying to decide, Chris (who owns the business w/ his wife, Mary) came over and asked if he could be of any help. Chris pet my dogs, asked me about my work, told me about his wife's experience as a dog groomer and answered a LOT of questions about plants. 2. EXCELLENT SERVICE - Even though I could have carried the planters myself, Chris carried them both over to my car and put them in the back for me. 3. NO PRESSURE - I browsed for a long time and was being indecisive, but never felt any pressure to decide or buy (I left w/ 2 items and can't wait to go back for more!) 4. UNIQUE PRODUCTS - The selection is HUGE... much more unique and stylish than things I've seen elsewhere. In an area that has been over-developed w/ apartments, fast food restaurants and convenience stores, it is so nice to see a piece of land still occupied by friendly, quirky people who have lived in the area for decades! read more
