My husband and I have bought shrubs, annuals and perennials here for 30 years.Today was the worst experience we have ever had there or at any reputable greenhouse. On Thursday, we bought 3 sweet basil plants and one oregano plant. On Friday, I took the oregano out of the small pot to find all brown roots. According to what I learned in 2019 in the NC Extension Master Gardeners Volunteer program taught by the Cabarrus County Extension Horticulture Agent, brown roots on a potted plant indicate an unhealthy plant with the beginning of root rot. White roots indicate the plant is healthy. (Look this up and you will find this to be fact.) The basil plants we bought had white roots. I had failed to check the roots of these plants before buying them mainly because I was at Braffords. Today, Saturday, around 12:30 my husband and I drove back to Braffords to exchange or return the oregano. There was only one other family there shopping. Sonja was at the counter. When my husband explained that the oregano had brown roots and pulled the plant out to show her, she immediately pushed the plant back across the counter laughing and saying loudly there was nothing wrong with the plant. I tried to explain to her what the horticulture agent had told us about brown roots. She laughed and said she had never heard that and that Marty knew more than the horticulture agent. She was talking loudly and in a condescending manner with the other customers standing beside us. She then takes the walkie talkie and calls for Judy to come to the front. Judy replies. Sonja talks to the other customer about a fountain he is considering buying. When Judy didn't arrive, she calls for her again. I told Sonja we could walk out to the greenhouse to talk to Judy. She said Judy would come to us. Then, Sonja leaves the counter and goes to the greenhouse. After another minute or so of waiting at the counter, my husband and I walk into the greenhouse where we meet Sonja. She starts walking away while saying she checked the oregano and some had brown roots and some had white. I was trying to ask her which ones had white roots so we could pick one of those. She tells me she isn't arguing with me. At this point, Judy walks up. I explain about the brown roots. Judy said she had potted the oregano in February, the roots were old but that didn't affect the plant. She had potted the basil recently so the roots were white. Sonja and a young boy returned to the greenhouse to watch. Judy went through pulling a variety of different plants showing all of them having white roots. Her explanation was the plants with white roots were perennials and the oregano was an annual causing the roots to be brown. I questioned that oregano was an annual because ours have been perennials. She said their oregano was an annual. Judy did offer to exchange the oregano for another oregano plant. But, as she had already pointed out all of them would have brown roots because they had been in those little pots since February. So, no point in exchanging. I told Judy and Sonja that in my 30 years of buying plants at Braffords I had never been talked to as I was talked to today by Sonja. Sonja then claimed that we had "jumped on her". This was not true at all. She had became defensive and condescending as soon as we said there was a problem with the oregano. We went back to the front counter where our oregano sat. My husband picked it up. We were not offered a refund or a store credit for a root bound plant with all brown roots that had been in the small pot since February and clearly should not have been sold. Sonja did say as I walked away that she was sorry if she had offended me .She said this after I told her my review would have her name in it. She told us to have a nice day as we walked out the door. They just lost customers of 30 years over a plant that was less than $5.00. We will never return based on this experience.

This property used to be part of a back yard and Sean used to rake the leaves from two, large pin oaks. Now the land has been made into the perfect place to look/buy a tree. The owners put 4" pipe into the ground at regular intervals. The fresh trees are put into individual pipe stands and the pipe for each tree is filled with water, nightly. Their trees are fresh and well trimmed so they look great. We were there about five minutes before we found a great tree. And very competitive prices. We drove about twenty miles to get to Mooresville but it was worth it.

I visited soil supply after it was recommended. I was picking up compost and mulch 1x/week or so…read morefitting as much as I could in the trunk of my sedan, which isn't much...maybe 8 bags or so. I went online to determine the size of my garden area and Soil Supply gave me a price for the compost that included delivery. 10 days later, I had it delivered. This was a good time for me as I would be out of town. Delivery was early in the morning (before 8 a.m.) in my driveway, where I laid a tarp. It it still there, a week later as I am still preparing the garden area. When I am outside, t's pretty stinky but that is to be expected. The compost is good quality, except there are some lumps that I break up by hand. When you need a large bit of compost, gravel, mulch, (see photos) and such visit Soil Supply to have it delivered. Get a wheelbarrow if you don't have one to transport the dirt to the back of the house. When visiting, look for the office seen in my photo as there is another driveway that you don't want to enter. It is all the way down the dirt road. When you see the mounds, enter through the gates and the office is in front of you.

I had the awesome pleasure of attending Metrolina's Trial Garden event last week and I'm so glad I…read moredid. I've driven by many times and always wanted to see what it was like inside. For the event, we didn't get to tour the indoor greenhouse but I didn't mind that. I understand it's a busy place. But to be able to see the massive outdoor area and landscape was amazing! I mean it was acres on acres of beauty, flowers and greenery. There's a little lake or water reservoir in the back as well. This event was a really fun time. I got to peruse their flowers and even vote on which ones I liked best to hopefully be included in their 2026 season. This was such a great experience and I'm so grateful I got to see inside!!

But hear me out!! It's definitely worth it. Buckle up, this might be long. We visited on a Saturday morning for the Fall Festival & Candy Dump. We arrived around opening (10am). The parking lot is very large and convenient to the entrance. The check-in staff members were so welcoming and friendly. Check-in was quick and easy. The pumpkins were set up at the entrance. There are also a few cute places to take pictures near the entrance. From there, the sky is the limit. We started at the tricycle racetrack then moved to the playground, which has plenty of benches for adults to watch their little ones. Then we moved to the Sand Hill. My kiddos loved all the dump trucks and the sit-on diggers. My husband and I had a quick game of basketball before moving to one of the blow-up slides. While waiting for the wagon ride , we visited the animal pens. My boys loved petting the cow, horse and sheep and seeing the turkey and chickens. For a small cost, you can purchase feed for the animals. Thankfully, they have a hand washing station onsite. The wagon ride is included in the ticket price and was a nice length; not too long & not too short. We had just enough time to visit the corn barn and grab a snack from their concession house. In my opinion, everything was decently priced. Service was quick and the food/drinks were hot. The candy dump was better than we could have imagined. They were kind enough to provide bags for the kiddos. The farm's owner offered a few warm words of appreciation then they loaded up the diggers. Although there were a lot of kids there, they spread the candy out so it didn't feel overwhelming. My toddlers had a blast and the older kids were so kind and patient with them. We left after the candy dump (my kids were exhausted ). There was so much we still didn't get to. They have a corn maze, an excavator slide, more bounce houses, a train and more. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful. And did I mention, my kids were TIRED!! We'll definitely be back.

I was surprised at the variety of items offered. They didn't have the mulch due to the limited space, but they had pies, jars of sauces, jellies, etc., garden decor, jewelry, indoor and outdoor plants, and lots of items worth to stop and look for a gift. 4" potted plants were $7. The owner and her family were present and all very polite and very nice. I decided to buy my mother-in-law a cute hanging ornament with a bird and flowers on it ($10) and a sweet note. I also bought a cute metal lavendar butterfly plant stick (listed for $7) . Mother's day is around the corner, so stop in and support this small, local family business.
