This is a fantastic public campground ($25/nt) and beach ($5/day). The water at the lake is clean, warm (in the summer), and the beach is well cared for. There are watercraft available for rental ($20/hr). The campground is professionally managed with DNCR staff ready to help. Firewood is sold on site (no outside firewood permitted) at $7/bundle. The patrons for the most part are kind and respectful (sadly, not all). Reserve online and come and enjoy this gem! read more

This camp ground is going downhill. The trail around lake is not maintained and overgrown. The bathroom is completely out of service and has Porto potties. Half the showers don't work. The water is brown from the taps. All they do is worry about rules. Beach closes early. I've been going to this campground for 45 years and they are destroying this place. Be warned!! My family has been coming here for 60 years with no problems until last night. The ranger came and said we were breaking the rules and had too many cars. We offered to move the cars in the morning and he said fine. 8am the next morning Jeremy the ranger shows up with the police and says we have to leave or we will be arrested for trespassing. This is absolutely insane and heartbreaking. My grandmother was crying. I don't understand how they can treat people like this for no reason. Read the other reviews and see that this is clearly a pattern and not a good place to stay anymore. We are heartbroken and not to mention out of hundreds of dollars we will never get back. read more

We loved it here! Absolutely gorgeous beach. We did not camp but spend several days here. You can pay to leave and re-enter the beach area. The beach has a picnic area and trees so you don't have to be in the sun the entire day. The water is shallow so it's great for small kids. They do allow you to bring or buy floats. Snack stand was a typical camping store with Keurig Coffee and teenagers. They also had a great playground in the beach area so it's excellent for families! read more

Really nice park to come for the day. I have only been here for the day use area, not camping so there are things I can't review or did not have access to. I do suggest purchasing the parking pass online as the lot can fill up quick and it can get crowded. The park sits on the beach lakeside to a beautiful glacial lake that is very clear blue and almost reminiscent of tropical waters. The mountain scenery is gorgeous. There are a lot of trees around which help provide some shade and a breeze. They offer boat rentals, a walking path around the lake, fishing area, picnic tables are there but limited playground for those with kids. The day use area has no restrooms as far as I saw only portable toilets. Overall it's a really nice accessible place! There are no long walks, it's a short distance from the lot to the beach so it's much more accessible for people with disabilities or health limitations. read more

The woman at the front for check in is a sweetie but that's is the only thing good! It is insane! The guy in the parking lot is one of the rudest old men I have ever seen. As a camper who paid to stay here we can't park at the beach because they save spots for people that pay $5 for the day. Great sites with enough bathrooms and water stations. The beach area is nice too, and so is the walk around the lake. We stayed for 2 nights during covid and our only complaint would be about people not masking as the signs say, but you can't blame the park for that. This is the absolute least understanding and worst place to camp. Overpriced crowded. We came not knowing pets weren't allowed and when we were told we explained our situation, and they said it wasn't a problem if we got them Off the premises so we did. The next day two different people (Dana and Paul) came back and we had the dogs in the back of the truck and were just putting the kids in the trailer to eat and sleep while planning on driving the truck off their campus. Just exactly what the ranger the previous night told us was fine to do. The security this night followed us and kicked us out. It was 8pm. Our kids were crying. Also, there is a pandemic and there was no place else to go. This was not what was communicated to us by the last staff they said it wouldn't be an issue. The man on this night thought he had told us to leave this morning. In no way did we understand that was what he was trying to communicate this morning. He was not at all flexible to the situation no matter how much we explained begged or pleaded and called the police and kicked us out with A five year old and three year old who had nothing to eat. He only replied to Our situation with 'not My problem'. Which is true, it's not his problem that two small kids then spent half a night in their car seats because there was no place else to stay. There's nothing good to be said about people like that. Absolutely non understanding staff. They will never have my money again, and I will be sure to let everyone I know never to stay. Never again. Good riddance. Spend your money in twin mountain. There are lakes galore where no egos are there monitoring you and there are camp rangers that actually have the creativity and flexibility to make everyone's experience good. We won't get our $150 back because this man feels he is 100% ok with what he did. Zero understanding for what was previously communicated to us. Both Dana and Paul and A real class act I hope they reach out to rectify the misunderstanding and at least apologize for not being clear in the first place. If they do I can delete this review. In the meantime as long as this is still there they have not bothered and do not feel the need to upkeep good customer service with their bussiness. read more

OK so it's clean and beautiful and serene and just perfect... until the massholes arrive... and it was bound to happen. The border creeps up year after year. I think Massachusetts ends a little above Manchester nowadays anyways. As a border hopper myself, I can understand the need to get away, but I just think its impossible nowadays. anyway- that's beside the point. I love it here. I brought a 6 month old and it was still perfect, minus the extraordinarily smelly bathrooms next to the store. I only went beaching for the day and loved it. We got there EARLY and thats the way to go. By 10 am, there were annoying camps of kids and the dude-guy massfolks that actually had the audacity to splash a wave of water into my infant son's face. Thats when we left. If you erase the people its a 5 star place. With the people its a 3, so lets meet in the middle since I love the place. read more

Negatives: 1. The lady at check-in overcharged me by $60 because she didn't acknowledge that a campsite reservation covers 2 people for each night. I should've only been charged for extra people/nights beyond that. A bit of time was wasted figuring this out and getting a refund processed. 2. There's ONE shower facility for 80 campsites. It's coin-operated (something like 3 minutes per 25¢) and while hot, the water pressure sucks! Positives: Everything else! Ample space at the campsites, clean bathrooms, beautiful beach. Tip: Try to time your departure at an off-peak hour. Traffic on Route 16 can be a nightmare. read more

White Lake State Park is a gorgeous, clean, and friendly place to spend the weekend camping. The staff are helpful and willing to answer any questions we had. Also, the bathrooms are clean and never too far away. Each campsite has its own fire pit and picnic table, and they are generally very private. There is a large field to play games and a camp store to buy essentials if you are in a pinch. White Lake itself is crystal clear and absolutely a gem. One thing, however, is that White Lake State Park is more of a family-friendly park. There are kids everywhere, and as such, it was hard to get shitfaced without feeling like a big loser. read more

I have been coming to WLSP since I was born. It is such a gem. The campsites are very nice. They come with a picnic table and a fire ring. The bathrooms for the most part are very clean. But, the true reason that WLSP is such a keeper is due to the lake. The swimming area is large and there is a large beach. It does get crowded on the weekends in the summer, but that is due to its beautiful nature. There are a lot of different people that come here. That being said, I think the "masshole" comment was a bit ignorant and uncalled for. There are loud and quiet people that are from all over, but everyone is very friendly! read more

I should first start off by saying that I did not go to enjoy the beach or swim in the lake. I camped out here as a cheaper alternative to staying in an overpriced area motel during the weekend of my son's camp parent visitation day. Apparently many camps in the area schedule parents visitation days / weekends at the same time creating a run on available motel rooms and inflated room rates. I got off to a bad start on the first day after arriving because the check-in office put me in to the wrong campsite. I did not discover the awful error until three hours after I had unpacked and set up my tent. The problem was that there was another reservation for someone with my last name that weekend. The front office folks did not notice that fact when they checked me in. When the rightful campsite occupants arrived they had me accompany them back to the check-in office / ranger station to sort out the problem. So I ended up having to take down my tent and move. The rightful campsite occupants were nice about it and were going to let me stay the night and move my stuff in the morning; however, I declined their offer. Another problem I encountered were the showers. You have to feed quarters into a metal box (similar to a do-it-yourself carwash) to get water for a shower. Plus certain bathroom amenities / shower facilities are locked up during certain hours of the day or night. A couple of times I had to walk to or drive to a second shower / bathroom facility after finding the first one locked up. I wish the front office provided a schedule letting campers know which bathrooms / shower facilities are open in given time slots during the day or night. Every campground is numerically marked with a wooden sign and every site has a picnic table. Lots of families with kids stay here. The park does not get very noisy at night with partiers / teenagers getting drunk / rowdy. Park Rangers tend to stay on top of things. There were signs warning that black bears were active and to keep your food locked up. This campground, along with most other motels / campgrounds in the area, require a three night stay / commitment even though you only plan on staying one or two nights. Other than the aforementioned glaring issues I enjoyed my stay at this campground. i would likely stay here again next year. Perhaps really deserves 2.5 stars but I will dispense with three. read more

I've been camping there since 1983. Beautiful lake, park, beach all in all a great place. Good trials around the lake perfect for families. Again we have been camping there for a very long time. I would say 5 stars but last few years campground management has been awful. If you want to camp here with friends and just have fun just go else where. They will trough you out of the park for lightly speaking around a fire after 10 pm. I'm not kidding they will harass you and then call the state troopers. I've even heard a complaint from another camper that they told them to stop taking pictures after 10pm because the flash was to bright. I'm not joking. Just be careful here guys. This campground is for families. The campsites are great and the lake is wonderful. Long sandy beach with a playground and changing rooms. They let you have floats and will even blow them up for $1! I would give the place a 5 but for the staff whom I give 2 stars. The staff isn't the most worldly crew. I have stayed here the past 3 summers with friends. The first summer the reservation desk lady could not get over the fact that I did not have a husband camping as my 8 year old daughter stood next to me. Whether my husband passed away or I am divorced or my husband hates the wilderness, it's none of her business. I don't need to explain why it's only myself and my daughter camping for her to "make sense" of our situation. This year, I was harassed for making a low roar that could be heard all the way down the road. I was in fact sitting by a fire on my own while three 10 year olds sleep in the tent behind me. The roar, which we had been peacefully tolerating, was directly across the road from me. To anyone with eyes it would have been obvious that the site was only being used as a party spot. No tents or cars. Just bikes, toys, chairs and coolers. Our neighbors ran when the security vehicle arrived. Leaving the rangers to threatening me without even letting me speak a word or even following my finger as it pointed across the road. The rangers left very pleased about threatening a mom with 3 sleeping kids. If I was a man, I think the rangers would have given me the respect to explain that they had the wrong campsite. The staff give that vibe which is very disappointing. read more

I will echo a few of the other reviews that the children that come to this campground are wild and obnoxious. Their parents allow them to shriek and run into others campsites. If the children were irradiated (or told to stop screaming like they were being axe murdered) this campground would easily have five stars. The sites are very close together so your neighbors have a great influence on your stay. If your children are feral this is the perfect place for your family. If you are working adults who came to the woods to relax and sleep past 6AM, get a hotel. read more

Been going here for over 5 years now always for the first week of August. This is a family camping paradise love waking up every morning to the loons having breakfast at the site packing a lunch and spending the day at the beach. Does get busy on weekends but once the parking lot is full they stop letting people in. Water is crystal clear when kayaking you can see the bottom anywhere in the lake. Clean bathroom showers store for the kids with plenty of candy toys and drinks. Place is just beautiful and perfect inside and out only cons are some of the lifeguards think they control and have authority to tell you what you can and can't do on the entire lake once you leave the roped off area your on your own and they can't say a single thing to you sometimes you have to remind them of that read more

The whole place is clean and family friendly. It is our favorite place to swim. My husband has been going there since he was a child. We have camped there twice and will go back year after year. A great place for tent camping and it is so affordable you will have extra money to do more things in the area. There aren't a lot of amenities because it is a small state park. Being a 'masshole' myself, I have been coming to white lake since before I could walk. My parents loved bringing us here for a week of fun and camping. The people here are usually great, but as you would expect in this world, you meet all kinds of kinds from EVERYWHERE. But I have yet to have a terrible experience here. I now bring my kids here every year for a week, and we all love it just the same. I will continue to 'hop the boarder', because just like everyone else, we have the right to do so. read more

I would recommend a few reserved tables for the campers because they all get taken up by the public. I really want to give this park 1 or 2 stars for camping, but it's such a beautiful spot that I'll stretch my review to 3 stars. But I'm not sure that's deserved. Here's my take: So, this was our first time camping, ever. We took our three young kids and they had a blast during the day. The lake was beautiful to swim in, and the playground down by the lake was also excellent. And thus concludes my pros. Cons - the quality of folk at this place, at the risk of sounding elitist, was subpar. People were rude, loud and strange, both at the lakefront and at the campsites. I don't want to generally insult everyone who has ever camped at this park, so that is only aimed at the rude and loud ones. You know who you are. Quiet hours supposedly start at 10pm, but we were kept up until 1 or 2am by a rather loud group of people who were quite a few sites away from us, but because these sites are so tight, it didn't matter. Anyone who was on this side of the campground was affected. Also, the trek to the bathroom - our site was on the main bathroom route and people were so loud tromping there late at night. Drunk, or just inconsiderate, I'm not sure which. Another neighbor pulled up with a huge camper and proceeded to run a generator for hours on end, drowning out the sounds of nature. What the heck is the point of camping if you're going to take a generator with you? I just don't understand. Anyway, White Lake came highly recommended to us but I was less than impressed. I would say if you're a family with young kids who need their sleep, don't go here. We only stayed for one night and could never have functioned on multiple nights of being kept awake that late. As you know, young kids are up with the sun (at 5am, our case), so late nights/early mornings are a bad combo. I would love to spend a week camping, but this could never EVER be the place for that, for our style. We are quiet, private people and did not feel like we fit in all that well here. Rangers and staff were polite. Incredibly busy though and had to park a distance. The beach and the lake were comfortable, the restrooms were not perfect but clean. Rules and regulations do need to be posted in a conspicuous area- this would assist the lifeguards so they would not need to approach numerous patrons about what they were doing right/wrong during their stay. read more

The most beautiful beach with a great view of the White Mountains. We did not use the campground, just went for a beach day. Great for kids as there's sand to play in and the water gets deeper gradually. Good bathroom facilities and even a little store for sunscreen, snacks and floats. Cool playground for little kids. This is a great place for families with kids. The views are gorges. The lake is crystal clear and the entrance in the water is super easy with a long shallow area of less than 3 feet in depth. We camped there in early August and there were virtually no mosquitos. The campground has water access points, bathrooms, showers, and a store. It is also quite close to a supermarket and a few convenience stores on Rt 16. One downside is that the campsites are not very large; the one which we used would accommodate one big tent or two smaller tents and one car parked with not so much empty room left. Also, the campsites are located a little bit closer to each other than I would prefer; but on the other hand, this could a plus for people camping in large groups (such as several families who like to stay close to each other) if they occupy adjacent campsites. read more

We have been camping for the past 6 years with my brother and sister in law at various campsites in the northeast. This campground is beautiful, the lake is beautiful, the views are beautiful, but that is really where it stops. In our 6 years of camping we have always been able to have 4 adults on site without penalty. White Lake charges you the base fee for each night in this case it was about ($83) for all 4 of us for three nights. Then upon arrival they charged us another $60 ($10 a night for each extra adult as only 2 adults were allowed per site without the extra fee). In addition to that, you would think with the extra $60 you would get a free shower at the least, nope those cost you about 25 cents, but for that 25 cents you get about a minute of water before it shuts off. On top of that there are no paper towels or air dryers in the bathroom (some have them). The bathroom closest to our site did not. read more
