I love SoftMoc for a number of reasons. I like that it has women's size 11 shoes. If I can't find…read moreshoes in my size at my local store, I can either have the store find the right size at another location and ship the shoes to the store, or I can order them online, and choose whether I want to pick them up at my local store or have them delivered anywhere in Canada. I saw this store at St. Vital Mall. I don't ever remember dropping by any SoftMoc store in Winnipeg, so i had to drop by to check it out. As convenient as it is to buy shoes online, going into a store and physically looking at shoes is a completely different experience. Take Doc Martens sandals, for instance. I owned a pair a couple of decades ago. They were leather and heavy. I looked at those at the store. On the contrary, the sandals were lightweight and had vegan options. Seeing and holding one of the sandals persuaded me to get a pair once I returned home. This store had a good selection of Adidas sneakers. SoftMoc also carries its own line of shoes. I dig their sandals. They are comfortable and many have a backstrap that I like. Without a backstrap, wearing sandals are like projectiles on my feet. You've been warn if I am walking towards you and I lose a slide. This store has the best selection of Crocs. I saw everything from shimmery ones to platforms ones. I saw a display of Grogu Jibbitz that allow you to decorate your Crocs. There were samples. I was trying to find some to buy when a friendly male staffer asked if I needed any help. Perfect timing! I asked if he had any Star Wars Jibbitz. He said that I could find them in the display on the right. He went one step further and found the exact set in his stock behind the counter. Nice! Jibbitz aren't cheap, as five of these Star Wars ones was $25. However, it i worth getting two Grogu Jibbitz in the set. He asked for my phone number associated with my SoftMocs rewards account. I rattled it off and he found me in the system. The rewards system is great. I had enough points last year to get a pair of Uggs sandals for free when I redeemed my points. I paid for my Jibbitz with a credit card. The transaction was smooth. He asked if I needed a bag. I was fine with the one that I had with me and placed the Jibbitz in it. I thanked him and left with my purchase. My Crocs do look cute with Grogu on them. It's fun decorating Crocs. I had a great experience at this store. Planning an African safari in Kenya? Gear up at U.N. Luggage first…read more Here's the detail that nearly sank me. The weight limit on domestic flights inside Africa is 15 kg per person. Not per bag. Per person. I worked that out two weeks before we flew, standing in my bedroom looking at a hard shell suitcase that was already over the limit empty. So I drove down to U.N. Luggage at 175 McDermot here in Winnipeg and threw the whole problem at them. Jon and his crew were terrific. They laid out the realistic options instead of steering me at the priciest thing on the wall, and I landed on the Osprey Sojourn Shuttle with wheels. Worth knowing my situation: I'm close to 300lbs with size 15 feet, so "fits all my clothes and all my shoes" and "comes in under 15 kg" normally fight each other. Not this time. That bag went to Kenya completely full and still made weight. BOOM. The extras ended up mattering as much as the bag did. I picked up carry on approved bottles so I could bring my own shampoo, conditioner and toothpaste, and then there were the Eagle Creek compression cubes, which I'd put near the top of anything I've ever bought for travelling. I have ADHD, and packing has always been my least favourite job on earth, because three days in my bag is a disaster. With the cubes, every shirt rolls into one, you squash it flat, and you can put your hand on anything in seconds. Big guy note for anyone like me: I assumed I'd need the Large and I didn't. Small and Medium with the mesh fronts did the entire job, roughly three to five items per cube. Out on the walking safari through Tsavo West and Tsavo East, three more things earned their place every single day. The Osprey 3L water bladder. A travel towel e sack. And a daypack that folds away insideitself. One last thing. We stuck Canadian flag pins on everything so nobody mistook us for Americans. :-D I'm genuinely delighted with all of it. I initially bought my fossil watch at The Bay . After 2 wears I noticed the leather on the strap…read morewas starting to stain . I contacted Fossil warranty department to have a replacement strap sent to me , they sent me the wrong colour. I called Fossil Canada and spoke with a supervisor he informed me that the correct strap was out of stock . He prompted me to call back in a few weeks to check back if the strap is back in stock . When I tried to call him back I was informed he no longer worked there?!??? After this, service went downhill fast!!! The routine would start by me explaining to some CSR the situation they would tell me they the were out of stock on the strap and to call back in another few weeks . The strap finally came back into stock and this time the CSR told me I must pay for it . I explained over and over again that the wrong colour was sent to me and all I wanted was simple exchange for the right colour , but she was incredibly rude and told me I had to pay for it . Something in me snapped as I was soooo fed up with CSR's from the fossil Canada website. I called the polo park location and explained to the manager the situation. HE WAS AMAZING!!!! He took care of situation and was able to order the correct strap and exchanged the wrong one !!! Done - problem solved !! It is because of his outstanding service that I will continue to purchase Fossil items . I will no longer purchase from the website but instead go to polo park location . I highly recommend going to this location!
