At my first visit, I explained my symptoms, but I was told that nothing appeared to be wrong. I trusted that assessment. A few months later, the pain became unbearable, so I returned. During that visit, the X-rays clearly showed that I had a missing filling on the very tooth that had been causing me pain. Instead of carefully reviewing the X-rays or listening to my concerns, the dentist immediately dismissed my pain by saying it was probably because I have braces. The problem with that explanation is that the X-ray clearly showed the missing filling. I had to point it out myself. As a patient, I shouldn't have to convince my dentist to look at what's right in front of them. I came in because I was in excruciating pain, and instead of feeling heard or cared for, I felt dismissed and rushed. What bothered me even more was the attitude I received after I questioned the explanation. Rather than taking a moment to reevaluate the X-rays or acknowledge my concerns, the interaction became defensive. Patients should never feel like they're being difficult simply for advocating for themselves. Dentistry is about more than fixing teeth--it's about listening to patients, taking their concerns seriously, and providing compassionate care. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. Because of the lack of attentiveness, professionalism, and compassion I experienced, I have decided to take my business elsewhere. I sincerely hope this office takes patient concerns more seriously in the future so others don't leave feeling as unheard as I did.

We were very hopeful. Unfortunately, the experience was pretty much a nightmare. I was not allowed to stay with my child during the procedure, even after they repeatedly asked for me. When nitrous was administered, they began crying hard and having trouble breathing. They clearly stated they did not want to continue and wanted to leave. Despite that, multiple staff physically restrained them and told them things like: * "This is going to happen either way." * "You're too old to be acting this way." When I was finally brought back, I found my child still being held down, crying. A staff member whispered to them that if they didn't stop crying, I would be asked to leave again. My child fled the room in tears once they were able to get up. The dentist then told me that they would no longer treat my child, and said that no one in the area would. This was not an emergency procedure. Consent was withdrawn and ignored. I have never seen a healthcare setting handle anxiety this way, especially one claiming to specialize in it. This experience left my child feeling traumatized and afraid to seek dental care again. I hope sharing this helps other parents make informed decisions.

A few months ago, I cracked a tooth while dining at a restaurant late on a Friday. I called the doc's emergency number because I was flying out of town on Sunday. He told me to come in Saturday morning (they are closed on Saturday) and he would check me out. He did and made a temporary fix to my tooth which took the pain away. I went out of town, had no problems and he immediately got me back in to finish the job when I got back in town. BTW: When I went in for my Saturday visit and I asked if I needed to pay him, he said, "Let's get you fixed and we can worry about that later. I think your insurance will cover it. Don't worry." Throughout the many years my family has been treated like members of a 'greater family'. Dr Phan provides caring advice and her diagnosis has always been spot on. MVD has clean and nice rooms (since the expansion) Their equipmenty is well maintained, and have taken advantage of technology updates. They've always worked with my different health plans.
