Wonderful and informative lots of local history here also rare species of birds and butterflies and the cheerful helpful staff when they're there are happy to answer questions. There's also wheelchair accessible restroom with ramp. This is a nice place to visit. Lots of schools. Bring kids here for field trips to be respectful and mindful. Please know Bluetooth radios or talking on your speakerphone. as there are people birdwatching. meditating, etc. Bunkers that used to have nuclear weapons you can walk right up and walk on top of them amazing place amazing history. read more

A great way to spend a day/afternoon at the tide pools. We have been coming here for several years and always have a fun time exploring the pools and all the views and wildlife in the area. A wonderful place to sit and relax too, with some benches along the way. Parking was $3 today to drive down the hill to the pools. There was plenty of parking when we arrived. The good: My 20 month old has been to this park a few times now. I like that the park doesn't have tanbark nor sand. My toddler loves both of those things but it gets awfully messy. The playground here is just the cushion floor. It is fenced off so your kid cannot run too far and the parking lot is free and easy to access. Parking is $6 if you go lower toward the preserve. There's also a public restroom next to it, a walking path that overlooks the ocean, and lots of cool desert plants. It's a great playground for toddlers. The benches are close by so you can sit and monitor them. There's a pretty water fountain upon arriving at the parking lot. The bad: The playground is on the smaller side. The interesting: There are plaques along the walking path by the fence that overlooks the ocean telling you a bit of a history about the area and name of the park. read more

Great escape from the touristy areas way down south in San Pedro. Lots of beautiful black rock formations and photo opportunities. You'll most likely will find a lot of wild life such as hermit crabs wandering through the cracks and crevices. They have a upper park area if you want to be more higher up instead. Restrooms are located here as well. Overall, can't beat the view here and rocky vibes! read more

There are brass plaques placed throughout the bluff describing the area's rich history. The paved road below leads to the actual beach and more parking below. The large patio to the right is what is left of the Royal Palms Recreation Center. To the left of the road, White Point offers some of the most diverse tide pools in the area. read more

A wonderful area full of several tide pools. You can find tons of small sea snails, black mussels, small crabs, various sea birds, and the occasional octopus or sea urchin. Parking is pretty limited but you can drive down and park for a fee. Definitely worth a visit to see if you're in the area read more

Nice playground! Amazing view. Seems to be a popular spot, but we waited just a short while to play on the playground alone for a few minutes. I came here expecting to be able to walk down to the beach, and I was wrong! Too steep, too far. Much better to drive down and pay to park. read more

I made a brief stop here last Friday. This is a great place to make a quick stop to view the ocean, wade in ocean water, explore tide pools, and see some cool geological beach features. I think it's cool that on my last visit here this past week I saw some people snorkeling. read more

I do like the tide pools/beach here, but parking is expensive. It's not like they have much to maintain here, please correct me if I'm wrong... but all I see is a public bathroom and tiny park at the top which I wish they would have put by down by the beach, but I understand they don't want the salty sea breeze on the metal... I would think $1.75 parking meters per hour like other beaches would be sufficient... I see this keeps the crowds down but if you don't want to park up at top and lug all your stuff down it's $10 flat rate.. yeah even for a few minutes so people go down and stay in the car instead of paying the fee. I don't stay all day so it's not worth paying if you are just there a couple hours... I watch the sunset and leave. You can park for free at the tide pools - Ocean Trails at Donald Trump Golf Course. You do have to hike down to the water, but free parking is nice for such a well maintained park/beautiful trails. They get their money from the golfers so we don't have to pay for enjoying the beach... it's a much more beautiful trail/scenery than White Point. The crowds here at White Point are sometimes sketchy too compared to Ocean Trails. I smell weed every time I'm there, granted it is legal to carry, smoking on the beach is not no matter what you are smoking... my kids don't need that in their face especially during Covid so please go smoke in your car or leave it at home. Check the low tide times and please do not let your kids be too close to the waves on the rocks, you know they can get crushed on the rocks and swept out to sea by these waves... I see parents not even watching their little ones. We will only come here if our friends who live right near are going. I think Ocean trails is much better. read more

I know this is a popular spot for locals, and boy is it a gem! San Pedro is absolutely gorgeous here. This place is great for people of all ages. Come picnic outside, walk with a friend, or explore the tide pools down below. It's so amazing to see the tide pools go in and out during the day. From and few feet deep near the shore, to completely bone dry in the afternoon! It's so interesting and fascinating. There are lots of little sea critters to spot. And leave the fisherman alone on that far rock, they just wanna chill. read more

It is a nice peaceful park with endless waves and rocks. There is a small park with a playground at the top. The beach park is down the hill and there is a lot of parking available. There is electronic pay stations nearby to pay for the parking spot. There is one section with sand where you can walk towards the beach. There is a strong smell of seaweed and lots of rocks. The park is nice, and it makes it a good quick spot for pictures or to catch a few waves. read more

You will never realize the rich history of this area until you stop & have a closer look & read the several plaques scattered throughout this beautifully-landscaped park. And I learned from the previous reviews as well. It's all in my 20 photos. There's a baseball field atop the bluff overlooking the cliffs & the sea......what a view. There's a kids' play area and a picnic area. It's a good whale-watching vantage point in season, apparently. But the best part for me, aside from spectacular views, was reading the info on the plaques. Who knew that one (unlikely) legend claims that White Point got its name as a result of a sailor named White jumping ship & swimming ashore at this point. Ala Johnny Depp and the Pirates of San Pedro, haha.... And I didn't know there had been silver mining on Catalina Island (visible offshore) in the mid-1800s. Nor did I know that the island had been owned by the Wrigley Company about a hundred years ago. This park is just before Point Fermin, "under" the Korean Friendship Bell. There was easy street parking even on a crowded Sunday. You can walk down the hill to the tide pools of Royal Palms County Beach to avoid the daily 7-buck parking fee in the beach lot. You are still in Los Angeles here, at the southernmost tip just before Long Beach, but it feels far away from the traffic and the city. What a great day trip: see this park, the Friendship Bell, Point Fermin historic lighthouse, the tide pools, and the various museums in the area. The more I know parks in general, the more there is to appreciate. It's some of the best entertainment around, and it's free. read more

This is why I love San Pedro: So many beautiful parks and beaches. If you go to one and it's crowded, no problem. Drive 5 min and you'll get to the next one. You don't like this ones view? It's OK, 5 more min and there is another great one around the corner. Seriously!..... My pup is totally spoiled. She chooses a different park for her afternoon walks every day. We are blessed to be living in this great town. This park is beautiful too. We did couple of breakfasts here and loved it. If you love animals like we do, you will enjoy the company of all the cats. And if you want a breath taking view, go around the sunset and take your camera. Watching the huge fiery sun disappear in the blue ocean will give you your sanity back after a long busy day. :-) read more

I love San Pedro area! I'm a big fan of adventuring near the ocean. This spot has cliffs, rocks, tide pools filled with sea life, and many other things. So the address will take you to white point park. You can park for free on the street, you can pay for meter parking near the park, or you can pay $10 to go down towards the beach. We just parked for free and walked down to the ocean. The tide pools have crabs, fishes, sea urchins, hermit crabs, and other sea life. Great for kids too! I saw people fishing or families bringing a canopy and setting up. I even saw someone bring their kayak. If you go further in there are some areas you might want to dip into! I went into a spot where the waves were broken before they came in. Maybe bring some water shoes cause the rocks may hurt. I wish I brought a snorkel too! Things I did bring: towels, a mat, sunscreen, hat, extra clothes, go pro, sandwhich, hiking shoes, and sunglasses. Would love to visit again(: Enjoy! (: read more

It's a beautiful beach. We loved the tide pool area, our kids had the most amazing time at the tide pool observing and catching crabs and letting them go. It's a good idea to wear water shoes. I would give 5 stars for the beach and the tide pool.. Unfortunately, this place is not a hidden gem if you go on a weekend or a holiday. It's overly crowded with people drinking alcohol and having bbq literally right on the beach. Naturally, lots of littering and trash everywhere including broken glass bottles, glass cups, and flying styrofoam plates..sooo many broken glasses between the rocks in the tide pool and on the beach, so be vigilant if you have small children. I picked up fake squid bait, glass shards, fishing lines, dorito bags, plastic utensils among other things. Overall we had a great time, and it was beautiful but maybe go ready to pick up bit of trash..and don't forget to teach the kids to be respectful to creatures living in the tide pool.. read more

On the end of the 110South Freeway you land on the city of San Pedro to find this great beach with plenty of rocks to walk on and scenery to enjoy. Also visible is the Catalina island not to far away... Inexpensive parking and a play ground apparatuses for the little ones. I'll definitely come back in couple months and bring the family. read more

PROS : overlooks the cliffs and the sea (who wouldn't love that?!) sweeping views of the coast, and Catalina Island our favorite playground because it's GATED (no worry about your little one taking off into the parking lot or off the cliffs!) great for toddlers clean and well maintained area metered parking (but you only have to pay on weekends and holidays!) ample street parking, too plaques around the grounds provide history of the area (worth a read!) baseball field next to park nice picnic areas public restrooms quiet, safe neighborhood CONS : stray feral cats (they're cute though & there are people who feed them) OVERALL : We come here often and we have fun every time. read more

Parking Lot is free on weekdays, and metered on Weekends & Holidays, but there is plenty of free street parking, no need to park inside the lot and pay the meter ... White Point Nature Reserve is right across the street with one of it's many trailheads directly across for the playground area ... I do really like this rock beach. I grew up here and now i have taken my kids here. There is an issue that is making me not want to go back anymore, however. There are always weed smokers next to all the babies and kids playing in the tide pools. I smoke too, so i get it, its a nice place to smoke. I cant really take my kids here anymore due to potsmokers not respecting children and families. read more

If you have kids and are looking for a playground with all the amenities, than look elsewhere. However, if you have a small toddler who won't really care about the number of slides and how high they're are, than this is the park for you. As an added bonus, you get picture perfect views of the Pacific, nice ocean breeze, an easy walking trail, and easy accessibility to the restrooms (however, there were portable toilets set-up since the restrooms were under renovation). Like I mentioned previously, the playground isn't great at all. There are two basic slides that will bore any 5+ year old quickly. Plus, there is no sand for kids to play with (which can also be a good thing for some parents). The playground and swings are situated on top of rubber, which reminds me of elementary school playgrounds. However, the neat thing about the playground is that it's enclosed by a fence, which is a bit more reassuring for parents in case their little ones decide to wander off and explore on their own. read more

"Kitty Beach" is probably my favorite place here in San Pedro. The sunsets are amazing and the smell of the sea is intoxicating. My husband and I aren't "pay-$8-for-parking" kind of people, so we park at the top and walk down. Sometimes I do see people down there that I don't believe pay for parking, so I don't know how easy it is to get away with, but we're honest people. Yes, there are many many cats that live in the rocks. Some people might find it gross, but to me they are fun to count and all unique to look at. If you walk to westward you'll find a landscaped bonfire area, although I'm not too sure how one would go about setting up a fire because there seems to be gates on some of the areas. There are many benches and places to walk and explore. I have seen some people surf & boogie board, but I think it would be too rocky for my taste. Ooh, and look out for dolphins!! read more

Fantastic views here. To park on the bottom you have to pay $10 however, you can park on the street for free and walk down to the bottom in maybe 5-10 minutes. Less if you take a really steep shortcut. The top is like small kid's park overlooking the ocean, then a cliff with a beach at the bottom (walk or drive down a long driveway to get around the cliff). Not sure if its a true beach though, there's not really sand but like a rocky ground. The water is super blue and clear here. read more

As a photographer, I found the small park to be better than the Royal Palms State Beach (which is more rocks than sand) right below. Though if that's the kind of beach you like, then who am I to judge. It's a small park, with various forms of trees and plants. There's restrooms here. A few benches overlooking ocean. There's a $7 entrance fee to the beach below, or you can park up top where this park is at. I made the mistake of not putting enough change in the parking meters, and as a result, got a ticket. *sigh* I hear you can park on the street. It's a good compliment with the beach, but probably not worth the trip alone. read more

We like coming here just before sunset. Lots of awesome photo opportunities. The tide pools are a neat spot to see some critters and maybe touch or pick 'em up. =] We also refer to this spot as "kitty cat bay" because of all the cats living in the rocks on the beach. Only a couple of minutes drive from my new job. It's a hidden treasure. On clear days you can see the Catalina Islands from here. There's a park for the kids overlooking the beautiful ocean. You can park at the park just pay for the meter and if you go down to the beach you have to pay an inexpensive fee of $10. I prefer to park on the streets, which is free and just walk down or take a steep shortcut from the hill. My kids and I love it here. There's a rocky place at the beach that has a lot of small fish, tiny crabs and other wild life. Great for small events with family or friends. Will definitely be back here again. read more

This was my first time going to the tide pools, it's a beautiful place. It's a great place to take photos, kids to experience the tide pools, spend time with family, etc. The facilities are clean, and parking was easy. But... The only complaint I have are the abundant amount of Low Life Cholos hanging out and drinking in the parking lot and on the other side of the tidepools, around the corner from the big rock. Where are the cops when you need them? It's too bad that such a nice beach is dirtied up by losers! Hence the 3 stars. read more

I've been coming here for years and it's my get away sanctuary without having to drive far. Beautiful panoramic views of the ocean and Catalina Island in the distance. Walk South to the tide pools and see barnacles, muscles, sand crabs, urchins, and sea anemones during low tide. Walk North and there's a paved area with benches, picnic tables, and fire pits. Look out to sea and you'll find slabs of broken concrete that were the foundations of a bath house and resort that once stood there and before that, Japanese fisherman had set up a fishery with a pier. On a decent Northwest swell, a left will pop up that local surfers will ride. It's a very historical place that I love coming to and never get tired of. read more

Amazing plus to come and watch the sunset. When it is low tide you can walk out to this little island rock that is nice to take pictures and such on but when it is high tide the waves crash against this same rock to make a spectacular sash that is just wonderful to see read more
