I absolutely love this market!! My husband and I try and go every weekend we are there, and the people at the market actually know us now which is pretty cool. One of the weekends each month they do food products only, and the other Saturday it's kind of an open fair thing where anyone can go so you'll get people who make all sorts of things. We're particularly partial to the local meats from Windy Hill because they are always delicious. This lady from Waggin' Tail treats comes there a lot too and she makes the best dog treats ever. Also there's a company that brings fresh pasta called Lucido's Produce & Herbs which is phenomenal. They even have frozen ravioli in all kinds of flavors which are omgtodiefor. The vendors either take cash or check. You can get cash from inside the gas station, the cashier will do it for you for a $2 charge (like an ATM). It's in the parking lot of the Green Spot Market & Fuels, which also has probably the best taco place in Dallas (Good 2 Go Taco). Awesome! Overall, I absolutely love this part of my community and I'm going to miss it terribly when I move next year. Super cute local market in Lakewood! I think the term "farmers market" is a misnomer since there was only an itty bitty selection of produce and fresh foods. What they do offer is lots of local products like baked goods, soaps, salsas and unique crafts. I love supporting small, local businesses so this market is right up my alley. I copped some yummy French macaroons and a spicy marinade that I can't wait to try with some fish for dinner. It's small and the location changes every other week so be sure to check their website before you head out. I would definitely recommend visiting if you are in the area but I would not make a special trip or anything. read more

So much fun and lots of great local product. My favorite find is Cita's Salsa, Garden Green flavor. I am using it on everything and I will never purchase salad dressing again! Just be aware that it has no preservatives and must be used quickly. There were several local farms and ranches peddling their goods. Blue Yarn Farms had eggs from their "Delirously Happy Chickens," Green Spot breakfast tacos were spot on. Fresh bread and pastries from The Village Baking Co. It was small enough to stop at while running Saturday morning errands, but big enough to make the stop worthwhile. I am a fan! read more

This place is not as big (as in number of vendors ) that I thought it would be, but it is quality. Unlike other farmer's markets, the food vendors actually seem like they care about sustainability and the prices reflect it. things aren't keep, but you have a good idea of their source. The market itself encompasses a large area of the parking lot so we had to park in the neighboring street. Most of the market is also crafts, not food, so personally,I would like to see more food vendors. You can get through the whole thing in about 30 minutes or so and get out as it does tend to get crowded on nice days. read more

This market is a fun way to begin your weekend, unfortunately it is only on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. It is held in the parking lot of a strip mall and parking is relatively easy, although sometimes you have to ride the lot a few times before a space opens up. Diversity and fun is the name of the game. Don't just whiz through... stop and talk to the vendors and farmers as well as others attending the market. What are you looking for? Fresh veggies? Got it! I didn't know they made apple bourbon honey jelly--and they sure freaking do. I need that. I also need the lemon vanilla pear jelly. I need honey sticks in various flavors. I need organic hand cream. I need cute hand made baby blankets....perhaps I use the word "need" a little much, but you get the idea. They have stuff you didn't really know you needed until you get there and taste, smell, and look at it all. And you seriously do need the hot dog and Dublin root beer. That's like a given. read more

I learned of the White Rock Local Market in the Yelp events section. I'm always looking for opportunities to Yelp about and support small local businesses so it was worth the drive from Plano. As others have mentioned the market and selection are much smaller compared to DFM however the experience of meeting the actual producers and farmers is such a treat. My grandmother would have been beaming at the bountiful bushels of mustards and collards and spinach and kale. I was disappointed that there weren't more fresh fruits and veggies but I'm hopeful that as the spring/summer progresses there will be more vendors and selection. I purchased a dozen farm fresh eggs and "boy oh boy" I'm so glad that I did. I've never (to my knowledge) had a farm fresh egg and there is definitely a difference in taste, brightness and size of the yolk. I don't know if I'll ever intentionally buy a grocery store egg again. Needless to say I cooked omelets all weekend long. I also purchased freshly made salsa from Cita's Salsa and I drizzled it over my omelets and ate it as a snack with chips. The ladies of Cita's Salsa were so fun and friendly. My last stop and purchase was to buy a fresh almond croissant. The vendor sales fresh bread loafs, croissants, jams and other baked goods. My croissant was so fresh and flaky and oh my gosh just good and tasty. There were also vendors selling bicycles, hanging plants, wooden patio furniture, jewelry etc. I really appreciate what the people of White Rock Local Market are doing and I'm looking forward to returning in a couple of weeks to purchase more of everything. This market has gotten better since last year. I noticed many more vendors and I like that they moved them to the side of the building where there's shade instead of out in the middle of the parking lot. On my most recent trip I scored a fully dressed rabbit for stew, heirloom garlic, peaches, tomatoes, pork belly, & onions. After we shopped, we then headed inside the Green Spot for Taco's & Kombucha. Will keep returning. read more

Cita's Salsa (Cita - the self-proclaimed Culinary Artisan and Queen of Kick) delivers....the "Red Rage" is delicious!! Also, grabbed The Soap Girl's grapefruit and sea salt soap!! I love supporting local business who are responsible producers and farmers. We have only been the Vickery Meadow location thusfar, but this is such a great market! There is everything from locally-grown produce, grass-fed local meats, raw cheeses, pies, and coffee roasters to textiles, candles, bath products, and so much more. The people we met today were passionate about what they do and it showed. Everything we tried was terrific and unique, and we can't wait to come back! read more

Bring a cooler with some kind of ice in it to keep things cold while you are shopping

One of my fave farmers market in the area. Small selection of vendors but its all local. So of course all of it is seasonal. They switch off between Green Spot and the parking lot adjacent to a church in Lakewood each weekend. I do like the market at the church more as there are more non-food vendors and some of the stuff is awesome. I found a great artist and a lady who makes and sell the japanese moss balls (kokedamas - I bought one for my mom on mother's day and now I want one and I can't find her!) Also, there's a guy that sells earthworm castings that I use for gardening. Good stuff there, and I love to buy from the Asian and Indian ladies that grow the leafy greens in East Dallas ;) they work hard to sell you their produce. Its a delightful market and I love going to either one. read more

We make our rounds every 2nd & 4th Saturday, we purchase fresh seasonal veggies & eggs from the market & take pleasure in walking to see what other great finds are available. I'm not certain about all the vendors & their growing methods we look, listen and stroll on by. We make our way to the farmers we feel most comfortable buying from like Rae Lili farm. It's a one stop shop most times, we purchase our seasonal veggies and eggs from them, they also offer duck eggs. Great news now they offer tamales!!!! Finally someone who offers Authentic handmade tamales at this market. I purchased 2 dozens, spinach & corn and the other fiery pork DELICIOSO !!!!!!! Stop by & chat with them more than likely you'll get an invite to their farm to check things out for yourself. I tried some of the recipes they suggested with their heirloom beets & it turned out great. I also love the bread from Empire bakery and I don't leave without my mushrooms. We saw some new vendors this week like paul quinn college, and after our conversation we found they have volunteers who do all the work so we moved on to folks who are hard at it sun up to sundown & put there sweat into what they offer. read more
