I thought they would judge when I just came as I was because that was my experience with churches They leave the prayer barn unlocked, when I run I just wander exploring my area more and this time I stumbled into there. After looking around for a while I fell to my knees and for the first time in Lord knows how long prayed. There's something different about this church and you can feel and see it. From the people who go there to the people who help. I never feel judged even when I'm wearing sweatpants or haven't had a haircut in a minute. Covenant doesn't just exist in the city, it's FOR the city. Whether through mission work, social justice efforts, or just good old-fashioned neighborliness, this church shows up where it matters. The pastoral team? Incredible. Thomas is an amazing speaker and motivator. He's just a hoot and will make you both laugh and cry from the pulpit. Jill brings deep warmth and clarity. She is honestly the reason I joined the church. She helped me through a tough patch 11 or so years ago and I just adore her. Ben's passion and humor is contagious. And then there's Allen Hilton, who leads our "Courageous Conversations"--deep dives into the hard stuff that most churches avoid. I lovingly call him our resident pot-stirrer (and I mean that with the highest respect). He challenges us to think, listen, and grow. Covenant is a place where questions are welcomed, differences are embraced, and faith is lived out with joy and intention. Our youth program is phenomenal...the kind of place where kids are known, valued, and genuinely excited to show up. We have three Sunday services, and the church is alive all week long with vibrant small groups for every age and stage. Seriously, if you're breathing, there's a group for you. What's especially beautiful is how diverse we are in age and background. Many of our members didn't grow up Presbyterian, but felt deeply called to be part of what's happening here, both in Austin and globally. Our missions and outreach director, Whitney seriously ROCKS. She's always coming up with amazing ways we can better serve. This isn't about checking boxes. It's about belonging, growing, and serving together. Covenant is a church that meets people where they are and walks with them toward something greater. The first few times I went to traditional services there, I confess that's what I thought. I liked the teaching, and people seemed friendly enough, though, so I stuck around long enough to really check it out. Here are some things that surprised me: 1) A contemporary service, ten45, meets in the modern building straight ahead, at guess what time? This service is worshipful and uplifting, with a relaxed and sincere vibe, modern style worship (rock band, video shorts, lyrics on screens, worship leader), and a fun kids' mini-lesson before the sermon. The senior pastor preaches the same sermon there as the traditional services, hopping around between them. He has a great sense of humor, while not straying from intelligent teaching. People tend to dress more casually at this service. It's my favorite. 2) The youth groups have a lot of kids and do a lot of stuff. If you have kids, they will probably like it. There's even an indoor gym. 3) The church is really involved in missions, in Austin and internationally. I don't just mean that they donate money. The members actually go places like downtown Austin to work with homeless kids, and churches and communities in Cuba and Africa. Church members have actually sponsored an entire community in Senegal through World Vision. 4) There are a lot of classes and groups that are open to anyone who wants to come, and people are nicer and more open than they seem at first, while wearing their Sunday best. 5) This church is huge. The Hill Country campus is beautiful. I was greeted at the door with a handshake, a fist bump, and genuine eye contact. The worship space had the feel of a concert venue, and the music was excellent. I truly felt the power of worship in that moment. The message that morning also presented the gospel in a clear, thoughtful, and beautiful way. I'm grateful for the opportunity to worship with you. As a pastor currently on sabbatical, I've been visiting churches and paying close attention to how newcomers are received. Although the official greeters welcomed me, no one from the congregation introduced themselves or began a conversation. After the service, I even spent time near the "New Here" table, but still left feeling unnoticed. A church can offer excellent music, a strong message, and a beautiful campus, but a simple greeting can be just as powerful. "Hi, I'm Bob. I'm glad you're here" can make someone feel seen. That kind of personal hospitality is one reason Oceanside First Presbyterian Church became our church home. Thank you, Life Church Austin, for a meaningful worship experience. It is impossible to find other childcare arrangements in that timeframe. More importantly, the beloved staff will be left jobless at Christmas. This is out of line with the values and ethics I know the church stands for. Please let church leadership know this is not okay.

I started attending Red Rocks Austin about seven months ago. It wasn't prompted by anything…read morespecific, but I knew I wanted to renew my faith. I was raised Catholic but hadn't gone to church much during my youth. My first service was absolutely incredible--I remember feeling like this was exactly where I wanted to be. The three pastors, Doug, Ethan, and Ryan, are amazing. They deliver powerful messages about the Lord and what it's like being imperfect people pursuing a perfect God. It may sound silly, but as a child, I had a 'kinda, sorta, maybe' faith and often thought of God as more of a comic book superhero than a real presence in my life. Now, my faith is maturing, and the recent Kingdom Building series has been my favorite so far. Growing up, money often evaded my family, and it left me with a deep resentment toward finances and the feeling of never having enough. Finding a church that helped me recognize the hold money had on my life has been incredibly freeing. If you're looking for a church, I urge you to try just one service--you might feel the same way I did!

I will be in austin next week so I might try to locate the church's new location in anderson mill. These are RADICAL christians. They are inspired and talented thanks to God.
