When I picked up the car and began driving it home, it immediately started running roughly and the check engine light began blinking -- indicating an active misfire. This serious issue did not exist when I originally brought the car in. I returned the vehicle the next business day. Rather than re-checking their work or considering that these symptoms appeared immediately after the fuel pump repair, the shop diagnosed a completely different issue (spark plugs) and charged me an additional $900. What was most frustrating was being told that these were "two separate problems," that the timing was "just a coincidence," and that it was reasonable to pay full price for both repairs -- even though the second issue only appeared after the first repair and was not caught during the initial diagnosis. While it was acknowledged that it was highly unlikely the spark plugs happened to fail on the exact same day as the fuel pump replacement, the shop refused to consider the possibility that something was missed or that something occurred during the repair. After posting a review, the owner publicly stated that he hoped to discuss the matter further and work toward a resolution. I followed up with a direct email, but more than two weeks passed without any response. Given the lack of follow-through, I have filed a formal complaint with the New York State DMV so that a neutral third party can review the situation and find a resolution. I am sharing this experience so future customers are aware -- not only of the repair outcome, but also of what happened afterward. I expected the shop to stand behind its work when new problems appeared immediately following a major repair. That did not happen here, and I cannot recommend this shop.

Went to them to get the state inspection, oil change, and have my car engine light fixed and exhaust shield replaced. First problem. They said, we cannot take your car right now, come back in a week. I get promotional mailings from them regularly, and not a single one said - by appointment only. Their website does not say, by appointment only, either. The owner Timm Baldauf, however, told me that you usually need to call for an appointment a week ahead. Second problem. OK, I came back in a week. Left the car with them. They charged me for the repairs I did not authorize: rotating tires, replacing cabin filter and engine air filter - for the total of $150. They also charged me $174 for the just "diagnosis" of engine light, which takes all of 5 minutes. The owner Timm Baldauf claimed it takes him 1.5 hours to "diagnose" engine light. Third problem. They still did not repair the exhaust shield. In the beginning, they could not find the place where it fell off. Then they found the place, but could not repair it the same day. They told me they will give me a quote next day, but never called. A day later, when I called them to ask about the overcharging, they still did not know the price of the exhaust shield. The owner Timm Baldauf claimed, "he is waiting for the quote from Toyota"; I think he was lying because nowadays you can get the price online in minutes. After my request conversation, Timm Baldauf agreed to refund $100 in unauthorized repairs but refused to refund $174 for the "diagnosis" of the engine light claiming this to be the correct charge because it takes him 1.5 hour at $115 to diagnose the engine light.

I called the next day and Kirby, the mastermind, asked me all sorts of questions about it. He did a thorough inspection and got back to me with all of the apparent problems, possible problems, and the costs the very next day. And even though I ended up junking the car, they never charged me for the inspection. Once you go to Advanced Auto Repair, you can't go back. They're a breath of fresh air in service most people don't trust. Kudos! Five stars.

This past May 2023, Mark and his team helped get rid of the rust developing underneath both driver and passenger side running boards on my 2014 GMC Sierra. Mark was very thorough in explaining what needed to be done and the coast. Mark and his team cut out the rust from both sides of the vehicle and welding a new piece to replace it and paint it to look like new again.
