I feel like Monty Roberts is an arrogant, condescending and rude man. We were basically TOLD what we wanted, he talks nonstop and talks over you. We were requesting a different casket from the one he wanted us to purchase and were taken to a "warehouse" offsite to look at caskets because he has none on display at the funeral home. When we got to the warehouse, he brought no one to help him show the caskets to us. He told us he couldn't help us much because he had a bad back. All the caskets were crammed into a corner standing on their ends. My sister and I had to literally move the caskets out by ourselves to look at them. He had no keys available to open many of them so we could see inside once we pulled them out. Nearly every single casket we looked at had dents, chips, gouges or scrapes on them and he told us he would try to repair them by buffing and spraying lacquer on them. He then tried to offer one for free if we would just settle on it. He constantly told us we would be paying much more for the same thing if we had used another funeral home that we had originally picked. He slandered this other funeral home relentlessly to us. My mother's funeral was prepaid and the money in trust at a bank. After telling me that was no problem, that he would just file with the trust for payment, he reneged on that and wanted me to Write him a check up front and if I chose to have him file for the money, he was going to charge me an extra $1015 for doing it. After it appeared to him that I was going to move my mother to another funeral home, he backtracked on that deal. After being there trying making arrangements for several hours, we picked a casket because by that time we were totally worn out. He had my mother's body and had already gotten her embalmed and was very strict about the time we would be allowed to see her once she was prepared for viewing. He would only allow us a half hour prior to the viewing to check her out. We left there feeling totally frustrated and feeling like we had let our mother down. The next morning Monty called me and told me the money wasn't in the trust as I told him, (it was) and that I would need to come write him a check for the total amount of her service. I told him I would pay him for the embalming and transportation of her body to his funeral home but I would be sending someone to pick her up as I didn't want him to do the funeral. I contacted the receiving funeral home, signed paperwork to authorize transfer of her body and they went to get her. When they arrived, Monty refused to release her body and told them he didn't have time. This is what the man picking my mother up told the funeral director where my mom was to be moved to. The funeral director called the police to come out and force him to release my mother's body to the new funeral home. After she was picked up, he kept texting me and basically calling me a liar and berating me for moving her. I would not recommend him or his services to anyone, much less their mother or loved one. He seems to attempt to TELL YOU WHAT YOU WANT and gets aggravated when you try to deviate from that. I don't feel he should even be in the business of handling such delicate and emotional situations. There is much more that I could write but will not as I am beyond angry. I will say if you want a decent funeral home and care, this is NOT the one you want to go to. He claims to be less expensive than any other funeral home because he is a "Christian " and doesn't believe in gouging people. I don't feel that offering cheap, messed up products during a time of great sorrow is appropriate nor do I feel I should have to go to a warehouse and rummage though damaged caskets for my mother is appropriate either. Lesson learned. You get what you pay for!!

Everyone was, without exception, so professional, yet had so much compassion in their dealings with us. I would never have guessed how many funerals were actually being handled at the same time. An outstanding presence at Biggers , beginnning to end, is the outstanding gentleman, Jason Rand. From our first contact, he treated us with not only respect and patience, but he began to feel like more of a friend than a funeral director. Someone who has used them had nothing but great things to say about their fairness and professionalism, even though she didn't have the financial resources to pay. I had the privilege of witnessing Mr. Monty Richards interact with a grieving mother and he was very warm and kind (in both words and actions) as if he sensed her pain. I imagine someone that's been in this business for as long as he has and that's been exposed to death on a daily basis would be numb to grief but it's evident that Mr. Roberts hasn't lost his sense of empathy for others. His actions alone would make me want to use and recommend this funeral home.

Other than the historical marker that points out the story of the "spaceship" that crashed nearby…read morein 1897, there isn't much going on. The pilot was buried here and it is unfortunate, but the original headstone has been stolen. Who steals a headstone? The cemetery is not far from the highway and it is otherwise unremarkable. It dates back to the 1860's. Some 800 other locals are laid to rest here, and that includes veterans of the Civil War, World Wars I and II, and the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. There are sidewalks between the graves, so it is much easier to navigate. We stopped here because Atlas Obscura recommended it as an unusual stop on our road trip. Apparently in 1897 a "mystery airship" crash-landed in Aurora, and a "petite Martian" was pulled from the wreckage. Locals buried the remains here at the Aurora Cemetery. The headstone has since been stolen, but there is more a marker where visitors leave memorabilia and tribute to the place where the mystery pilot was buried.
