I can honestly say that Lauren Spence is an exceptional funeral director. From the very beginning…read moreshe explained every single detail clearly and thoroughly, including costs, taxes, shipping, preparation, urns, and certificates. There was never any backtracking or surprise fees. Lauren is not only professional and precise, she is also a genuinely good and honest person. She showed compassion, empathy, patience, and understanding through the entire process. She was relatable, appropriately funny when it was needed, and even shared some of her own personal struggles, which made her feel genuine and human rather than just someone doing a "job." She made the most difficult time of my life easy and as stress free as possible when it came to, what I thought would be the most stressful part "funeral arrangements". I truly felt that my mother's body was being treated with grace, respect, love and care. Her commitment and service to me and my family left such a deep impression that I have already decided I would want to be brought here myself from Las Vegas when my time comes. Lauren even went beyond her normal hours, reaching out on her days off just to make sure everything was handled perfectly. She is amazing at what she does and she left an everlasting impression that could never be replicated. I am so grateful that God/fate brought me to her knowing that this part of my life would be handled by a true professional with the most exceptional service I've ever had. Greenwood is very fortunate to have someone like her. From the bottom of my heart, Thank you Lauren! -Jake R. & family

My experience Saturday, August 1, 2026 burying my aunt, Mary Jean…read more When we arrived at the gravesite, the workers came up to help get her placed on the lowering device. (The head of the casket was bout 4-5 inches lower than the foot end. NOT level at all) I understand that the section I own in on a hill, but it could have been level. When we were placing her on the lowering device, one of the workers (older gentleman, glasses, gray hair I though he had something on the back of his head like a ponytail, but not for sure) stated "Feet to the street" and I was like what are you talking about, She should be "Head face East" I have never heard of anything like that, and that is should be "Head face East". He raised his voice at me and exclaimed that he has worked in that cemetery over 20 something years and that was the way it was and was gonna be. I was like not today it wont, again I had never heard of that. He walked off mumbling under his voice and drove off on his cart. Another younger guy showed up on a cart and I asked to speak to who ever was in charge. He called Kurt and I explained to him that I was the funeral director, the next of kin and the lot owner and that her facing west was not an option. Kurt stated that there would be no issue with doing that. When we buried her husband in 2013, I was the funeral director on that burial and nothing was said at that time, I was there for the lowering of the casket and we had the casket open for viewing and was lowered without turning the casket around. I have been very emotional over this death, as she was my Aunt (and last of my fathers family) that I have been caring for, for the last 8 years. She was more like a parent to me and to be talked to that way, especially after paying $2,695.00 to have the grave opened for her to be buried there. I own 9 spaces there, and hope that the next burial I have there is nothing like it was on Saturday. After a week sending my concerns to the funeral home, they have not responded. I guess, they do not care the way their employees talk to families.

Sometimes it needs to be said... "Carry each other's…read moreburdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." -- Galatians 6:2 When our granddaughter recently passed, I reached out to a funeral home close to our church -- one I had referred several families to over the years (Forest Ridge). One I had done several funerals in (both their old and new location). I reached out to the owner himself (David, whom i've worked with on many occasions), someone I thought knew me and cared. His response? He passed me to a sales rep, who simply emailed me a pricing sheet. Wow. But when I contacted Lucas Funeral Home, the response could not have been more different. The receptionist, recognizing the pain I was in, reached out to the owner, Jim Lucas Sr. Still recovering from surgery, he came in person to meet with me and my son. He hugged us, he wept with us, and he -- along with Doug Jones and Melissa Robinson -- cared for my son, daughter-in-law, and precious granddaughter with dignity and compassion. That's the difference: being treated like a number versus being treated like a soul. So thank you, Jim Lucas Sr., Karen Smith, Bobby Lucas, Doug Jones, and Melissa Robinson -- for showing the love of Christ in the hardest moment of my life. I won't forget you. In the midst of that pain, we were guided with grace, compassion, and extraordinary care by Martin Thompson & Son Funeral Home & Crematory in Fort Worth. What they did for our family went far beyond a service; they gave us comfort, dignity, and peace during an unimaginably hard time. Payton, in particular, was a godsend. From the moment she stepped in to help, she treated us with warmth and empathy that felt like an embrace. She didn't just fulfill her duties; she went above and beyond, staying in contact with us after hours, making sure every step of the process was handled gently, respectfully, and with deep understanding. When we learned that our mother would need to be transported from Houston; a four-hour drive away. Martin Thompson & Son didn't hesitate. They made the trip themselves, a gesture that spoke volumes about their dedication. Not only did they care for her transport, they worked seamlessly with the private cemetery where our family plot is located, ensuring every detail was handled with precision and grace. Perhaps the most touching act was Payton's careful, loving work in preparing our mother for a private family viewing. Because of the condition she was in, we didn't know if it would be possible to see her again in a way that felt peaceful. But Payton made it possible. She restored her in such a gentle, dignified way that we were able to say goodbye in peace, seeing our mother as we remembered her: serene, whole, and beautiful. I truly cannot say enough about the extraordinary care we received. Martin Thompson & Son didn't just provide a funeral service; they gave us compassion, attention to every detail, and a space where we felt supported and seen. They treat families with a level of personal connection and respect that is rare and deeply needed in times of loss. If you are facing the unimaginable and need a team that will walk with you not just professionally but humanely; this is the place. From the bottom of our hearts: thank you, Payton, and everyone at Martin Thompson & Son. You helped us carry the weight of our grief, and we will be forever grateful!!
