One I've done several funerals in. I reached out to the owner himself, someone I thought knew me and actually cared. His response? He passed me to a sales rep, who simply emailed me a pricing sheet. Wow. But when I contacted Lucas Funeral Home, the response could not have been more different. The receptionist, recognizing the pain I was in, reached out to the owner, Jim Lucas Sr. Still recovering from surgery, he came in person to meet with me and my son. He hugged us, he wept with us, and he -- along with Doug Jones and Melissa Robinson -- cared for my son, daughter-in-law, and precious granddaughter with dignity and compassion. That's the difference: being treated like a number versus being treated like a soul. So thank you, Jim Lucas Sr., Karen Smith, Bobby Lucas, Doug Jones, and Melissa Robinson -- for showing the love of Christ in the hardest moment of my life. I won't forget you. As we entered, our temps were taken, which made people feel comfortable about gathering. Often, given family dynamics, events like this can sometimes cause contention. In spite of this, The staff at Lucas, managed a very well coordinated event, and do so in a beautiful facility.

The pricing seemed pretty reasonable to us and they never pressured us to look into the really expensive stuff. The room for the actual service was not very large, they have chairs instead of pews, we did have to order some chairs to sit more people and they put a sash around them to make them look nice. They look at their job from the families point-of-view instead of just a business perspective. Over all, they did a really good job and I can't think of any complaints.

If that is not the rudest, most hateful thing you can tell a person who just lost their mom. This is supposed to be a colleague of mine. I would never ever say anything so hurtful to anyone in my life. I met Christie K. Moore at a professional training. When my mother passed on 03/31/23 I contacted her to help with the arrangements. I met with Myeshia and paid $12,0018 for the arrangements, travel to Tulsa, and the burial plot. When we go to the graveside gazebo, my mom was already there waiting on us. After the celebration, they put my mom in a white van that had trash inside. They drove her to her final resting place and pull her out of the back of a white van with trash on the inside of it. Every funeral I have attended had a hearse, but my mom was pulled out of a white van with trash. At no time was I told the service car would be a van. I spoke with the man who came from Texas and said, why wasn't my mom in a hearse, why you pulled her out of a van? This is terrible. He said, "I am sorry, if you wanted a hearse, I could have gotten you one." Why wouldn't I want a hearse, it's a funeral. They were not packing meat across state lines. I then sent Christie a message about my embarrassment and heartbreak the same day of the funeral. She responds we can talk, so on today, we talked. I told her how I felt and that I couldn't sleep because it was so disrespectful for my mom to be in the back of a dirty van. I also stated Tulsa was my mom's hometown and I was so embarrassed. I told her, I can only bury my mom once, we can't redo this and I feel very embarrassed because this is a funeral and we did not expect nor were we told that she would be in a van. She again said I am sorry, we believe in excellence, etc. At no time, did she offer any refund or anything, just an apology. When I asked what would you want to happen if you were in my place. She told me. MY MOM IS ALIVE, SO I DON'T KNOW HOW I WOULD FEEL. If that is not the rudest, most hateful thing you can tell a person who just lost their mom. Wade took care of my dad after he passed in February of 2016. As requested, my dad was to be buried a few hours away in central Texas. They loaded him up in their SUV and we started the long trek to the burial site. I had horrible anxiety at the time about driving long-distance on the highway so they accommodated me by taking the beautiful scenic route through the backroads which was such a comfort to me. And funny story: my mom (my dad's ex wife) got pulled over 5 minutes into the drive for expired registration. My dad was a prankster so I know he would've gotten a laugh out of this. The Wade SUV pulled over and went to speak with the police officer and asked him to let her go because this was a funeral procession for a loved one. They did let her go with a warning but it was so kind-natured of them to intervene for the family in mourning. They seemed very protective of us. Would highly recommend them.

But he "forgot" to get any of the papers - even though I stressed to him Many times how important that was. I was coming in from out of town so I really needed to be sure to get the copies. When I arrived to Dallas, I sent an email to Kevin which was ignored so I drove over to Wade Funeral where Kevin was no where to be found and no one knew anything. So I sent another email that got ignored. Finally when I'm called again, I was told no copies Of the obituary were available because he forgot. Isn't this his job? Now I wish I would have placed the obituary myself and ordered the number of papers I needed directly from the paper and I advise you so that. Because now I don't have what my Family asked of me. And Kevin and Wade's Funeral Home don't care and will not make it right.

To begin with, Billie looked like she was asleep in her final resting place....especially important considering how sick she had been. The casket was beautiful, the visitation was nice and respectful and the graveside service was perfect overall...again, especially considering it was done at 1:00 pm on a hot day. Everything was handled professionally. I know the family and all her friends appreciated this wonderful send-off to such a sweet lady. Condolences to all her family and friends!

Due to extraneous circumstances around my father's passing, the family member that was in state, was out of the country when he passed and there were delays in the family being notified that were out of state. The hospice he was at called this particular place to pick up my father. I wish I would have been able to intervene sooner. The level of professionalism just wasn't at any level I would call professional. The representative that we dealt with belonged on a used car lot, and not a reputable one. I really don't want to hear about stripper funerals when I am picking out urns and planning a service. He kept telling us the wrong amount for what was due after the initial costs of the cremation, etc. A check was written the day of the service for a remaining balance and then almost a month later, we were informed that we owed them the amount we were repeatedly told was already taken care of. I had asked my in town relative when I was in TX what the deal was, so I could handle it out of my father's accounts if needed, they didn't have the answers, so I relied on a proper accounting from the funeral home. Basically, it had to come out of pocket when a month ago it could have been taken care of in a different way that we no longer had access to. It was all paid, it was just basic misinformation, miscommunication, lameness on their part throughout the whole process. They found a reverend even though I had request that they did not, who just happened to be the reverend of the used car sales man funeral guy. My father's pastor was out of the country and I figured, better to have none then someone who did not know or care about him. The Stand in reverend they found used the wrong name of my father's mother even after I had asked him to read what I had written about my father seeing as he didn't even know him. That is always great during a memorial service, especially when you are paying this person, oh I mean "tipping" them and they basically refuse to read what you prepared then say the wrong name. After receiving the Death Certificate, I realize why he used the wrong name of my father's mother, because it was also wrong on the death certificate. It is not the name listed on my father's birth certificate. Another fail. He also told us the obituary had already been run, we did not even get a copy or link to it. But, it now ends up, they never ran the obit even after charging us for it. So, they are going to run it this Friday, a month after the funeral. Another epic fail on their part. I called the funeral director, Lee, to talk to him about this, to express my overall dissatisfaction. He came out of the gate funky; like he was put out that I would even try to have a conversation with him about anything I was unhappy with. I was cut off, over talked, disrespected and hung up on. I have a feeling that a lot of more mature "gentlemen" in Texas are old school and do not know how to discuss business with a woman respectfully. I was told that it was his "right" to continue to interrupt me. Great. I was told that what I was telling him was 100% wrong and when I asked if his accounting was 100% right, he said "absolutely". I really hadn't even been able to say a full two sentences at this point. Then, he started lighting in to me about the length of time that they had to hold my father and issues he evidently had about my sister being out of the country and not having access to reliable communication methods. He actually told me she could have sent a TELEGRAM. OK. Right. Because that is such a preferred method of communication. I am sure they charged us for the time my father was there, generously, and also it was almost impossible for me to get a timely call back when I did get in the mix and start dealing with them. The location is also in a industrial-ish, not so nice area with nothing around it but hospitals. Not nice at all. The overall appearance of the funeral home is tacky. Plastic columns and plants. I would not recommend them, at all. It was a clown show at best.

She didn't just fulfill her duties; she went above and beyond, staying in contact with us after hours, making sure every step of the process was handled gently, respectfully, and with deep understanding. When we learned that our mother would need to be transported from Houston; a four-hour drive away. Martin Thompson & Son didn't hesitate. They made the trip themselves, a gesture that spoke volumes about their dedication. Not only did they care for her transport, they worked seamlessly with the private cemetery where our family plot is located, ensuring every detail was handled with precision and grace. Perhaps the most touching act was Payton's careful, loving work in preparing our mother for a private family viewing. Because of the condition she was in, we didn't know if it would be possible to see her again in a way that felt peaceful. But Payton made it possible. She restored her in such a gentle, dignified way that we were able to say goodbye in peace, seeing our mother as we remembered her: serene, whole, and beautiful. I truly cannot say enough about the extraordinary care we received. Martin Thompson & Son didn't just provide a funeral service; they gave us compassion, attention to every detail, and a space where we felt supported and seen. They treat families with a level of personal connection and respect that is rare and deeply needed in times of loss. 0/5 Stars -- The most hurtful and disgusting experience ever…read moreI am writing this to express my deepest disappointment and utter heartbreak regarding the care and presentation of my sister,Tina during her recent services at Skyvue Funeral Home. What should have been a respectful and comforting final farewell was instead an incredibly painful and distressing experience for our entire family. First, the presentation of my sister was completely unacceptable. Her makeup was poorly done and looked terrible, failing to reflect her true appearance at all. To make matters worse, the clothing her husband provided for her was noticeably dirty. The entire presentation looked like a complete rush job with absolutely no sense of care. Seeing her handled with such a lack of basic dignity was devastating to witness. Furthermore, the conduct of the staff during the service was deeply disrespectful. Our family was actually asked to move from the seating area where we were already gathered just to accommodate another family. Forcing a grieving family to relocate during a service is completely inappropriate, thoughtless, and entirely lacking in empathy. They completely failed my sister and our family.
