I called Sunshine Physical Therapy this morning to schedule a new patient appointment. The woman…read morethat answered the phone was speaking with me in a whisper. I asked her to please speak louder as I could not hear her. She replied that she feels she is speaking loud enough. I informed her again that I could not hear her and to place someone else on the phone that speaks at a normal volume level. She stated she was the only one there then became very rude and belligerent and hung up on me after I told her if she was one of my employees I would immediately fire her for her unprofessionalism and lack of empathy. It is a shame that I was not able to make an appointment with a facility that was highly recommended to me just because of the first impression I received from a receptionist who obviously did not want to be at work today. I was really counting on receiving my therapy there. Also, the Facility will be losing the monetary revenue that my insurance would have paid.

The facility was very clean and well maintained. When I had an issue with the AC the maintenance team promptly addressed it. The food was very good, I enjoyed it mostly. I felt well attended to, although on a few occasions it did take a bit of time for the staff to come to my room. My only real complaint, is that I was there to regain my strength after an illness. Unfortunately, being confined to a wheelchair 90% of the time, weakened me and caused edema in my legs. I was only allowed to use the walker during PT. I lost strength and agility not being allowed to use it. This should be addressed. All in all, I would recommend Palm Garden to those needing rehab.

IRHC have been the home care providers for three people in my life - my next door neighbor, a close…read morefriend, and (I saved the best for last) my MOTHER!! My neighbor's was seamless. She had fallen and broken her arm and leg. Once out of the hospital the nurse and home care professional were waiting at her house to take over 24 hour care, including her dog. My close friend's care was the physical therapy she required after breaking her leg. She is 71 years old. IRHC is for any age! And my mother's care? Well, all I can say is it was great and is still going on. My mother (92 years old) fell and broke her elbow. she required home assistance with all basic needs, and physical and occupational therapy. Indian River Home Care does it all. And it's done with professionalism, highest standard of care, and with family peace of mind.

Felt they were efficient, knew what I needed and gave me a good start on my road to recovery. Fortunately I had great insurance at the time and my visits were covered. Fast forward to now (Feb. 2016) and I needed some more PT per my ortho surgeon to help strengthen my right hip to help with some pain management. There is now a new registered PT there, very nice and knowledgeable, but I'm having a problem with my insurance. My insurance company tells me one thing about my coverage and the office is getting a different answer from Florida Blue, which ends up having me pay an $85.00 copay for each visit which I could afford but do not feel is necessarily correct per my Florida Blue contact. Don't see any resolution here so may have to change to another PT, but they are so busy I don't think they really care one way or another...

Now as a Merchant mariner, for over 45 years, I've done this procedure, successfuly, ever since the USCG instituted it. Also, I was an registered EMT and am still a certificated Medical Officer, aboard ships. So I actually perform these type of exams. myself. aboard ships. Thus I was appalled, as I watched them, firstly screw up the DOT papers I gave them, and then proceed to fumble the Chain-of-Custody procedure. Well, sure enough, the Medical Officer called me and advised that there were "irregularitys", in the received samples, meaning the test was rejected. So now I am under suspicion, for their incompetency. If that was not enough, when I submitted the Physical exam papers, again, I was informed by the USCG, that there were "irregularitys" there, too. So now I can't get a USCG Medical Certificate, which is required to sail--I'm out of work, because of their "irregularities". Also, they charged me almost double what I would have payed, had I just gone to Concentra. Well, so much for going back to work!
