Neal was a referral from a financial advisor. After a divorce and moving back to WA, I met with him…read moreover the phone to which he advised my tax situation was "not very complicated and something we do all the time" to which I asked on average what do you think pricing for these services typically look like, "not more than a few hundred dollars at most but your situation isn't that complex". After verbal agreement and contract Feb 7th, I took some time to gather documents together and told him it would take me time on the phone to gather all my documents together, I asked him how long he would need to complete the return to which he responded "no more than a couple weeks" I provided the requested documents March 23rd 2024. April 1st I reached out, due to no response, April 8th I reached out again due to no response. That same day he responded saying he did not see they got uploaded and to resend though I sent a screenshot showing the documents were uploaded. I assumed given the response, he'd file an extension and asked such he responded same day advising he would at no extra cost. At that point, I followed up April 30th, with no response, and again on May 14th after copying my financial advisor, which he responded same day. After a series of back and Forths, and meeting with Chad, I asked for a copy of the filed extension because he was poor in communicating anything about my files on May 31st. July 10th, he advised there were some missing items, I provided the remaining items on July 22nd. I followed up after no response on September 6th, 16th, 23rd and on Sep 24th I received a response about missing copies of forms. I provided a response on Sep 26th. I then received an Invoice in November in the amount of $1,085, no copy of my filed return, no explanation of the return, where and what deductions were made, any details at all, nothing. After I asked for an itemized receipt of time I received a response of "The fee is reasonable given the complexity of your return. We won't be discounting it or providing any additional information." Even in my last response on Nov 22nd to him, there was never a response, just continued requests for payment. This is extremely unprofessional. As a first time I've ever used a CPA to file taxes only because I was going through a divorce and needed extra guidance I was taken advantage of, lied to, manipulated, and flat out disrespected by someone claiming to be a tax professional. Considering the return was already filed, there was never an indication the fees were lucrative...and I was put in an impossible situation and there was 0 regard for person and poor conduct I filed formal complaints with the State and AICPA. Fees for services rendered have not been paid. And we'll continue to be in this stand off for quite some time, I'm sure. If I can't get answers, money won't be paid.

This firm was referred to me by someone I admire. And if you know your stuff, they may be for you…read more But as a start-up with little understanding of how accounting really works (in effect, you are working on your taxes year round), I found the firm to be uninformative and worse, unresponsive. That's too bad, because they do know their stuff - they just had a hard time helping me get ahead of the curve (a service I would've gladly paid for by the way). As a result, my taxes were never bulletproof, and I ended up overpaying for things like city and state taxes. Plus I fell into a Quickbooks quagmire.... which could have been prevented with a little guidance. Look, at the end of the day, I am solely responsible for my own numbers. No excuse there. But I was looking for a partner, someone who could help me on my business journey (again, a service I would have gladly paid for), and this firm was not the answer. The search continues....

I received wonderful, caring, accurate, financial help from James Fritz CPA…read more My last tax return was done at Waterfront CPA Group after being treated very rudely by a crotchety, old scheduler for H & R Block. Despite being an H&R customer for more than a decade, I was treated like a giant pain when I asked for the specific tax preparer who'd done my taxes the year before. But now I am grateful to that rude old goat because I contacted Waterfront to do them instead. I was able to get an almost immediate appointment with a professional who was friendly and helpful. The taxes were done in less than an hour, by a CPA (rather than simply a "tax preparer.") He accessed every legal deduction and gave me solid advice for next year. I can't believe I've been going to H and R Block for years, getting just adequate service, sometimes grudgingly. James Fritz, in the Silverdale office quickly did my taxes, saved me money, and then charged HALF of what H&R Block has been charging me! My taxes were the same difficulty, the same number of schedules and forms, as every previous year. But now, they were done by a CPA for half the cost! In the future, I will be certain to go to Waterfront CPA group for all of my tax and financial needs.

I utilized waterfront CPA for my taxes because I had complex taxes for 2021. I provided to them…read moreall the required documents to complete my taxes including the W2 that they left off my taxes. (to my fault I should have reviewed their work but that's why I hired them so I didn't have to) well turns out they completely left off a W2 and I owed more in taxes. the IRS hit me with a roughly 1,000 dollar penalty which they "paid" by doing my taxes this year free and refunding my 2021 tax fee. but because of their error I was responsible for a 470 dollar interest fee that they would not cover. so be prepared to review all of their work. if an error happens regardless If it was their fault, you will be responsible for the interest owed because of their error in addition to the tax you owe. I told them I would not have incurred the interest because I would have paid my full tax bill had it been prepared correctly, but they said that was policy. So unless they correct this policy I would look elsewhere for a more reputable company that takes responsibility for errors of their service. Respectfully I typically do not write reviews but because their error cost me an additional cost of almost 500 dollars and the IRS headache I was not a satisfied customer.
