After having to owe obnoxious amounts to the IRS and State, year after year after year, we went to another tax preparer this year. The new tax preparer not only only got us a refund, but he went back as far as he could (three years) and re-did what this Clayton H & R office did and found so many errors, he managed to get us almost $14,000 back from the IRS! Makes us sick to think of all the $$$$ we could of saved had we quit this office a long time ago. We learned an extremely expensive lesson. I shutter to think, had we been audited, and this H & R Block office would of been there for us; that would of been extremely embarrassing. Prices change if you have different forms that needs to be completed, like IRAs and Stocks. From what I can figure out is that, Wanda was not truthful on what she needed to get completed. Therefore, the prices had to change. Also, they give estimates NOT quotes! And any smart person knows an estimate has potential for change where as quotes do not.

His office went silent for months. I had to nag to get my taxes finished and had to continually reach out to find out when they were done. We finally received our completed taxes just ahead of the extended deadline in 2020. We filled out all the paperwork as we were instructed and mailed it and checks to the IRS. A few months ago (Oct 2021), we started getting letters from the IRS informing us that we owe them MORE money for the same years in question for 5329 (IRA) issues. I contacted Chris's office immediately. His assistant requested some IRS paperwork from me which I provided that very day. Chris himself called me back about a week later. I explained the situation, and he said he was willing to look into it to see if he'd made a mistake. He then said that he needed to send me some paperwork so he could call the IRS on my behalf. It's been 2 months since those emails and phone calls, and I've heard nothing from either of them. I paid a non-trivial sum of money to have my taxes done by Chris. If a mistake was made, I expect it to be taken seriously - especially given the quantities of money involved here! I'll not be using this CPA again.
