My daughter joined WCA as soon as she turned 2.5 years old. It's in our old neighborhood and we always wanted to send her to WCA as soon as she become of age because we saw how nicely the kids were playing in the outdoor play area and how the teachers kept a close eye on them. After I did the tour wd Ms. Amanda, we were all in. My daughter loves Ms. Rajani, Ms. Amanda, Ms. Elma and she still talks about them even though she's attending TK now at a public school. My daughter not only learnt her letters and numbers but also how to be kind and respectful, how to help around the house as well as a little Spanish and Mandarin. We have built life long friendships with other parents(and teachers) and I can't wait to send my twin girls as soon as they are old enough to join the school. read more

We are so happy with this school for our kids. Our son was treated so well that we did not hesitate to send his younger sister there. If you are looking for a preschool where the teachers care and they all feel like family, this place is it! The location is excellent and they have a wonderful outdoor play area so our children get exposed to the outdoors and are not sitting inside all day. It's also easy to get to since it is near the 23 freeway and sunset hills. It's easy to get back on the freeway to/from work. My son has been going to WCA since he was 3 yo, for 2.5 years, and we absolutely love it. We are so incredibly happy we found them When we moved to TO. The educators are fantastic at what they do and I can tell they really care about the kids. I personally love all the teachers too! My son loves going to school and all the teaches which is my main thing at this age. But he's Also learned an Incredible amount while there and continues to thrive in their kindergarten program. In addition to the obvious socialising with other kids and honing his manners, etc, he's learning math, science art, geography, social studies. My three kids all attended Whole Child Academy and I couldn't recommend it more! Before moving to Thousand Oaks, I toured 9 preschools to find the right place. Whole Child Academy was the one I fell in love with. My kids had gone to a play-based preschool in LA before this, and while we were happy there, the Montessori-style of child-led learning that Whole Child Academy has was such a better fit for curious minds. The indoor space is a good sized space with a great vibe. I kinda love is that it is a big single room, which allows the kids 2.5 yrs old to 6 yrs old to be a community. So many preschools overly separate the kids by ages, and it feels like a miss. It's an opportunity for the little ones to learn maturity and the big kids to set an an example and guide their younger classmates. Their outdoor space is awesome-- Spacious with lots of great play equipment, shade, and a garden. And I haven't even talked about the teachers yet. They are the bees knees! Kind, smart, patient, and we love and appreciate Ms. Amanda's sense of humor. The kids learn Spanish, Chinese, and they're always doing cool activities. The holiday show is freakin' adorable. This gem of a spot has been a godsend for us to know our kids are not only thriving, but they love their school. read more

Loved the individual attention to each child's needs and interests. The teachers are so compassionate and understanding. They treated our child as if he were their own. Our child learned so much more than we could have imagined. I still remember the day he came home and told us all the presidents' names, all the names of the United States, and the names of the state capitals! He also learned about animals, reptiles, fish; plants, minerals. He learned math, reading, spelling. For a 4 year-old, this was quite an amazing education. We have sent both our kids to WCA after transferring the first from a traditional preschool and falling in love with the Montessori philosophy. The school is well kept and cleanliness is emphasized with the children, lending to less frequent illnesses. Each Montessori teacher and Director complement each other well, being able to cater to the varying needs of each child. Our very shy and timid kids transformed in their time there, growing in confidence, discovering their strengths and interests, and developing a passion for learning and being challenged. Our family couldn't be happier with the almost two years we had at WCA. We had our son Luke at another school in Westlake Village for a few months but something was always off about that school. I just didn't get a real sense of compassion from the director or teachers. One day I drove by WCA and decided to just drop in and find out more. I had heard the name but didn't know much about the school at the time since it had only been around for a year or so I believe. I walked in and knew I had struck gold. I literally was able to sense a different attention to detail and care within the first few minutes from the whole staff. Rajini, Amanda, and Natalie were very respectful to each child's specific personalities and backgrounds. They realize something really important, each child had a different path that had lead them to this school. Fast forward to the present day and the development of our son's skills is astounding on every level- socially, emotionally, and intellectually. My son has been attending this school for 6 months now. In that short amount of time, I have noticed a tremendous improvement in several areas! His speech has improved, his vocabulary has expanded, and his knowledge of basic fundamentals amazes me EVERYDAY. He comes home each day with very positive things to tell me about his day, which means the world to me and speaks volumes about how he loves his school. The teachers at this school treat my son as if he is their own. They are consistent with the same discipline and love that he receives at home, per my request. They keep me updated about how he is doing also. They respect each parents' parenting style and implement it in that child's day while at school. There is a feeling of warmth and community between the teachers and the families. I am also very impressed with the curriculum. They are learning everything from Spanish and Chinese to personal hygiene. The Montessori approach is awesome and I would not trade it for any other learning environment. I called them looking for a school for my mild autistic son. The person I talked to told me she would have to meet with the staff to see if my son could be accepted, and if so, they would give themselves a period of 30 days. At the end of this period, in her words, they could say "sorry, it didn't work". Still, because I've heard so many good things about the Montessori method, I asked if I could bring my son for a tour, and they said no, that I needed to come by myself first. I was negatively surprised by this treatment, which to me is not only bad customer service, but a disfavor to what the Montessori method stands for. read more

Both of my children have attended whole child Acadamy. We have had nothing but the very best experience!! The teachers are loving, nurturing and extremely experienced on the montessory method. Both my children have excelled academically and socially! The environment is structured enough to guide them into being independent workers,great students, good friends and yet creative enough to just be kids! Great school, both of our children have gone there. It is the Montessori approach, they have learned the alphabet, numbers, reading and writing starting at age 3, much earlier than other schools we tried out. Great teacher to student ratio (about 6:1 including teachers aid), they use cots at nap time, heat up the kids meals, a lot of warm home touches that seem to be missing from most schools these days. We have two children there, and it has been wonderful (we moved them from another school, and this one is so much better). I almost cannot believe how advanced both our children have been developing since starting. Any issues at the school or with our kids have been brought to our attention immediately. It is a smaller school, so the teachers and parents really get to know each other well (the school even has the families and kids get together sometimes on weekends for hikes and other fun activities). The teachers and entire organization of this school are a blessing. The owner and director are also the main teachers. Unlike some other schools, there are not a lot of extra people involved in the school that are not directly involved in teaching the kids. The teachers know each child, treat each child respectfully and as an individual, and they are strict about teaching respect for other people. The environment is very loving. i have know this school from it's beginning days. Both of my grand children attend and have had wonderful growth in their education, self esteem, confidence. They are in a positive environment that promotes discipline, independence, courtesy and patriotism (very important to us). My now 4yr old son has been to three well-known daycares/preschools in the county since he was 8 months old. I have to say, I sincerely did not truly realize how chaotic/unorganized/impersonal it was at other places until he started at WCA. When deciding between daycares, here were my "cons" for WCA: Mixed ages, one big classroom, lack of lunch option. However, my husband and I got a good feeling-- the playground is huge, the teachers seemed so engaged, the price was competitive. We decided the pros outweighed the cons and WOW! What a great decision that was! Packing lunch is really not that big of a deal (lol) and the mixed age classroom has turned out to be such an amazing experience for my son. The kids at WCA are so friendly, so compassionate. WCA fosters an environment in which the older kids can demonstrate leadership and mentoring skills that are astonishing, frankly. The younger kids look up to and learn from their peers, in a good way. I am amazed at the things my son learns everyday. Administration and the teachers have impeccable communication! Some things I take for granted now: monthly newsletters, daily curriculum on a calendar, parent-teacher conferences/meetings, seasonal performances, promotion of healthy habits, reinforcement of manners. The academic piece is also amazing. He learns about geography, songs in Chinese, he has Spanish lessons on Wednesdays, he showed me a Yoga pose just this week! I can go on and on... If you are considering WCA as a place for your child, I can assure you, you will not regret choosing WCA. We love this place. More importantly, my son loves this place. Our daughter is "graduating" to kindergarten this year, and we are all going to miss this school so much. As soon as our daughter was potty-trained, we signed her up for WCA. After being at some other daycare's, the idea of the younger and older kids mixed altogether in one class concerned us. However once we took a tour and saw just how serene and friendly the atmosphere was, we got it - when we took our daughter on the tour, other kids were actually coming up to say "hi" and introduce themselves. After being here for two years, we've seen other benefits of the older kids with the younger kids, including siblings getting to be together and older kids helping/teaching the younger kids. The creators and teachers of this school have done a great job creating a community with the kids and families. We've had opportunities to picnic and hike together. We've also found ourselves excited for opportunities to volunteer and be a bigger part of our daughter's schooling. And last but not least, it is a school. Their focus on education kept our daughter engaged and excited. She's going to kindergarten with the ability to read three-letter words, write and count past 100. WCA is passionate about Montessori and encourages independence with all the kids. Our daughter actually had trouble at other daycare's because of her desire to be more independent, so WCA has been a perfect fit for us.
