We sent both of our children to Oak Park Montessori and have had a wonderful experience. They nurture a safe and caring environment for the students to learn everything from counting and writing skills to folding laundry and watering plants. The school also instills life qualities like politeness, kindness, and patience that I don't always see in peers their age. Ms. Mary and the other teachers teach and discipline with kindness and instill a curiosity and love of learning that extends well beyond the school day. And FWIW, when I enrolled my son in elementary school, they said that they love it when kids come from OPM. My daughter has been attending Oak Park Montessori for several years, and we've been very happy with her experience. She has grown so much both academically and socially, and she's learned a wide variety of things. The school provides free meals every day, which is such a help for families. They also host wonderful events throughout the year, including Mother's Day and Father's Day celebrations, a Christmas party that bring every family together. We love seeing her come home with all kinds of writing and artwork from class, as well as plants and vegetables she's helped grow in their garden. It's clear the teachers put a lot of care and thought into creating a nurturing, engaging environment for the children. This school has been such a blessing to my two year old son. It's traditional Montessori accompanied with a lot of outside play time for toddlers, and the biggest outdoor play area for kids that I've seen from all of the schools in the area. The teachers are fantastic and the director Ms Mary is great! They send alot of updates in the app like when your child eats and naps and photos of them learning in the day and playing. Just wanted to update my review that it's been over 3 years since my son attended this school for a little over a month. We live in the neighborhood & when we drive by he STILL makes comments about how he didn't like the school & that he had a very "scary" teacher. This is unprompted & I never spoke about this experience with him. While it's nice to see so many families having wonderful experiences I feel it's important to share this experience so others can do their due diligence before enrolling. It clearly left a very negative impression on my kid & I'm grateful I followed my instinct & pulled him out quick. Also worth noting is that since posting my original review my yelp inbox blew up with messages from other families who had similar experiences but haven't left a review. Oh and the "apology" from the business owner is not genuine & only for show on this platform because even when I pulled my kid out no one asked me what happened, all they cared about is that I paid out the month since I didn't give a 30-day notice. read more

My son (4) has thrived since starting here. It is not a conventional "Play Based" school. Many people seem to think preschool is just fun and play, Montessori is NOT that way, which is why most Montessori kids get to TK more academically advanced. At a young age, their minds are sponges, so we wanted to take advantage. My son is very active but extremely intelligent. "Play-based" schools would have him climbing a fence and escaping because he is not academically challenged. His teachers and Ms. Mary have been phenomenal. My son started not potty trained, he was potty trained within a week! He knows all upper and lower case letters. He writes three-letter words. He even reads "sight word" books to his sister. We have been with Oak Park Montessori since May '21 starting my older daughter at 2.5 years in their pre school and my little one recently at their infant care. We have had a great experience, Ms Mary and her teachers create a safe loving environment where my kids love going to. They encourage a lot of independence and their focus on Montessori activities that help build motor skills. On multiple occasions people have pointed out how independent my almost 2 year old is , I attribute this to the routine and structure from school. At their pre school classes my daughter learnt a lot and always spoke about a varied array of topics. And was challenged to bring out her best. At the beginning of this year they transitioned to the bright wheel app and this has been great for us since it helps me know what my child did and ate each day and also allows me to message the teachers and staff directly. Our family has been with Oak Park Montessori (OPM) since 2021 when our children were 2 and 4 years old, and both have now graduated from TK at OPM. Over the past three years, we have witnessed significant growth in our children's academic capabilities and social maturity. We find that our children are ALWAYS advanced in comparison to other children we encounter on playdates and in sports activities. Some of the highlights we found are the various holiday activities that allow parents to come on campus and participate in learning and celebrate with their child. We love that they learned the Pledge of Allegiance, the Star Spangled Banner, all the continents and oceans well before they were 5 years old, while also learning Spanish and getting exposure to multiple languages. We love that OPM provides our children with the freedom to advance at their own pace while being challenged to try more. We truly appreciate that our children are in a safe environment where we know every child is genuinely cared for and nurtured--not just watched over and taught. Most importantly, we are thankful for the character development our children have undergone during their time at OPM. Ms. Mary and the OPM staff are most intentional in instilling attributes of kindness, mindfulness, self-control, and discipline. Our children are not only performing at a higher grade level academically, they have gained a sense of independence and are well rounded socially as world citizens. Through the years we appreciated that the concerns we brought to Ms. Mary were addressed and improved. We were also happy to have the BRIGHTWHEEL App option added as a resource for communication and payment. My daughter started at Oak Park Montessori when she was 3 years old. A true pandemic baby, she had never been in mommy and me groups and had only been home with parents and a nanny. At first it was a tough transition, but she quickly became comfortable with the teachers and the routine at Oak Park Montessori and she has thrived there for the last 2 years. Ms. Mary is the head teacher and is hands on in each classroom, teaching and guiding the Montessori learning. She cares so much for the students and puts a lot of effort into creating a nurturing and educational environment where the children can play and learn. She also puts an emphasis on teaching students to be disciplined, polite, and well-mannered. We have enjoyed the school's increased efforts to provide daily pictures and updates about the children's activities so that we can have discussions with our daughter about what types of activities she's doing each day. This year, the school has also started communicating with parents through the Brightwheel app, which we have found easy to use. The staff, especially Ms. Mary, have done an outstanding job teaching and nurturing our daughter and we look forward to sending our other children to Oak Park Montessori too. read more

We have sent 2 of our children here, one is now in first grade and the other will be at Oak Park Montessori until she transitions to Kindergarten next year. We have been extremely pleased with the progress of both children over their time at this school. When our oldest child moved to kindergarten, she was far ahead of the curve when it came to all areas of reading, writing and math, which appears to be continuing into first grade. Our youngest also shows the same signs of developing these skills, but more importantly, she is excited to practice her work and improve. Knowing the quality of learning they are getting takes a lot of the worry about their transition to kindergarten and onward. The teachers are great, and our kids love/d going there. My two-year old son has been attending Oak Park Montessori since he was 10-month old. From the start, he was always very happy and had an easy time adjusting to the new environment. My older son also attended the school for 2 years before going to Transitional Kindergarten. Both my sons have been very happy and made good friends while attending the school. The teachers and staff are very friendly and take good care of the children. We get regular updates from the school director Ms. Mary and she always keeps us informed of how the children are doing. My oldest son (4.5) has learned a lot and is very advanced academically for his age. They also organize fun activities for the kids such as petting zoo, easter egg hunt or magician shows which always make the kids very happy. We loved Oak Park Montessori. Our daughter was enrolled there from 3 months until 20 months when we moved out of the area. Their app communication lets you know what your child is eating throughout the day as well as potty activity. They complete daily activities such as arts and crafts and help teach the children at a young age skills like cleaning up after themselves, washing their hands, etc. Staff is friendly. read more

our child found this school to be "distressing", despite having zero issues at previous 2 preschools and zero issues at another preschool right after. The school seems so focused on academic advancement, that they aren't as nurturing when it comes to a child's emotional well being, physical needs, and having fun. My child experienced bathroom regression there, which went away immediately upon changing schools. Consistently poor communication with unreliable details, with many last-minute cancellations and days off which are rarely communicated more than a few days in advance. Staff are disengaged, and actively avoid interaction with us as parents. Child comes home with a soaked diaper or diaper rash almost all days (they don't change her as frequently as they claim). Definitely seems staff are doing absolute bare minimum to get paid. I don't have worries of direct abuse, as my kid doesn't cry at being dropped off. Possible that terrible experience is exclusive to 'infant class'. Any other Montessori is significantly better, and not necessarily any more expensive. read more

When we started to look for childcare, we basically wanted a safe place where my children felt comfortable. Now that we have attended Oak Park Montessori for about a year, it has exceeded my expectations and we are very happy with the decision to attend this school. During this time, I have seen them flourish under the supervision of Ms. Mary and the OPM team. Their vocabulary has expanded, and their self-help skills have improved tremendously. Every day they are excited to go to school to see their friends and teachers. As a working parent with three toddlers, dropping them off at school knowing that they want to be there is such a nice feeling and the fact that OPM provides snacks and meals is a HUGE help. My daughter went to Oak Park Montessori for two years and i have seen tremendous growth in her academically and socially. It was tough during covid times as parents were not allowed inside the classrooms and slower feedback process. But over time, things were better and my daughter made good progress. Teachers and staff are cordial and listen to any requests made and act on it. I absolutely love this new Montessori preschool. My son started there 1/2 day in Mar when he was a little over two. The teacher sent me pictures of him every hour during the 1st few days to help ease my anxiety, they are so considerate! Many thanks to Miss Sapida, Miss Tammy and Miss Mary for the smooth transition. He quickly adapted to this new friendly place, we changed him to full day the 2nd month. All the teachers are so patient, caring, loving and fun with little kids. I also like the director Miss Mary she has the authentic montessori philosophy and make sure that's implemented at this school. My son has learned so much the past 8 months and the teachers also helped with his potty train! They teach Spanish, German and French at school! Since it's still a relatively newly opened school, the teacher to kids ratio is so good, each class has about 7-8 kids, and room 1 has 2 teachers there. Highly recommend this school! read more
