From the moment I walked in the school when touring it I felt comfortable right away. My daughter loves going to school every day and doesn't wanna leave when I pick her up. My sons began Roots and Wings preschool the fall of 2009, and it was one of the best parenting decisions we made. The staff is caring, communicative, and they love the children. My children are excited to go to school in the morning, and they come home excited about the letters and numbers they can read and write, shapes, and all types of areas of science and art. My oldest son is heading to Kindergarten, and he is ready. My son has been attending Roots and Wings since October 2014; he is 3.5. He absolutely loves the school and so do we! They have so many activities planned during the week to engage him, like trying a new healthy food every week. They take wonderful care of him and I never worry about him when he is there. When we first decided to put him there, my only concern had been that it was so much smaller than what I was used to at my daughter's preschool (we had moved cities). I ended up loving Roots and Wings more, and now wish that my daughter had gotten the opportunity to go here. (So does she! She loves stopping to play and talk to teacher Kerry when we pick up her brother!) The school ended up being the perfect size and perfect place. We have been sending our children to Roots and Wings since January 2012 and it is the BEST! We moved to Thousand Oaks in 2011 and I spent 7 months researching and touring preschools throughout the area before we found Roots and Wings. We have a 4 year old and 3 year old twins and all three of our children love going to school here. It is such a blessing to watch them grow and blossom into such wonderful little people while being supported in a loving, nurturing environment. The teachers here are dedicated to the development of the whole child. Roots and Wings encourages children to learn through creative play, reading and art while learning vital social skills. As a mom you look for so many things in a preschool....but I am also an Early Childhood Educator with over 20 years of experience. With that in mind I was looking for so much more. My son has been attending Roots & Wings since he was one year old and I have nothing but great things to say about this school. The staff is excellent, caring, and they take unsurpassed care of the children. My boys love it here. The outside area is full of activities including tricycles, a huge playset, blocks, book area, an edible garden, and more. Everyday my boys come home with art projects and stories of fun activities. I love that they email me pictures of them doing some of the activities. The teachers are awesome here. When I drop them off I know they are going to get the best care possible when they are away from home. My oldest is able to go to public Transitional Kindergarten (free!), but we decided to keep him at Roots and Wings. We want him to get the best foundation and start before starting Kindergarten. read more

I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter. She loves going to school. I wasn't sure how she was going to take the transition, but everyone there is wonderful she didn't have a tuft time at all. My daughter is getting ready to leave Roots and Wings for Kindergarten after attending this school for 3 years now. I looked at many pre-schools before choosing Roots and Wings and I am sad to see her moving on. Every one of the teachers are AMAZING! The teachers always have fun and creative projects the kids work on. They build things with wood, are encouraged to love healthy foods with their on site vegetable garden the children love, painting, drawing, lots of outside time, water play, teddy bear picnics, different dress up days... the list goes on and on!! The teachers are very involved and patient. They teach conflict resolution and get the children ready for Kindergarten by teaching them letters, numbers, math, and lots of cool science.
